Heifetz practiced difficult runs by playing fast in a group starting with the initial note, adding one at a time. Indirectly this came to me either from Immanuel Tsetlin or Galamian. I imagine the same method works for piano. The Chopin 24th prelude would be a candidate for this kind of practice
