I can never get enough of watching these Zenyatta videos - she is such an unbelievably special animal.

I am the best lover of Secretariat, but this beautiful creature has given me the best hope in life, we need to really appreciate all she has done for us. I am amazed by this creature, she is a miracle. May she continue to reign. Go Z!
Good looking horses...so fast and graceful...saying, "look at me, aren't I handsome?" They are hams aren't they? They know how to pose and they LOVE to run!

.. I am glad you mentioned Seabiscuit. If you look at his charts (racing history), he carried huge weight 129, 130, and 131 lbs. when his rivals carried a feather at 104, 108 or 110 lbs. And more often than not, he still beat them. He had a ton of talent and a ton of heart, that horse.

Zenyatta will now get a chance to win more races in a row and the most money of any thoroughbred ever. Great decision by the Mosses and great for racing. Zenyatta will really bring the crowds to the track wherever she races.

She did, and Zenyatta spotted him 15 lengths for fun, then roared by him like a runaway train with her ears pricked. Poor Summer Bird. He'd be the star performer in a normal year...
Best TB ever? No. ONE of the best we've seen in a long, long time. Sure.
How can people forget about horses like Secretariat, Seattle Slew, Cigar, Kelso, Forego, Citation, Man 'O War, etc.? Zen is great but these horses should not be forgotten. I think it's safe to say Zen is ONE of the greatest of our generation, but it would be a sin to forget about horses who won the TC, set world records that still stand, etc.

I acknowlege her talent and consistency. However, Secretariat won the Triple Crown all in record times (no one has ever come within two seconds of 2:24) he won on turf, dirt, slop, numerous tracks. He had the most flawless physique ever, and he could win from last or from the front. His overall consistency, brilliance, and achievements on the track cannot be compared to Zenyatta's. That's my point, but again, in this day and age, Zen is one of the best.
No, but like most Anabaa's she can run. How much of a "closing kick" do you think Macho Again would have at 8.5f if Rachael Alexandra had been allowed to canter the first 6f in 1:13.64 and AC was about a length off that pace.
RA is a very nice filly and deserves HOY as much as Z but for a deep closer to win at 8.5f behind a pace that slow is at least as remarkable as RA's game win in the Woodward after a really fast pace.
Where has it been proven?
The longer the track the better for Zen.
I think ruffian will always be the best but dont get me wrong i LOVE zenyatta!! I think shes so pretty fast and sweet but ruffian was AMAZING and she set records for every race she raced and she never really lost to foolish pleasure i mean there was no competition for him! Luv u ruffiian!

I personally believe Z would have run down and passed RA in the Woodward but that's something we'll never know for sure. Both distaffers are great racehorses and I'm looking forward to seeing RA as a 4yo. RA vs. Z could have been a great rivalry, especially with their radically different running styles but that had to happen this year, oh well. Life is Sweet and Careless Jewel can give RA a run for her money next year.
Both of Zennyata's foals have Secratariat in their bloodlines too.So Cozmic one and Z13 will probably be well known in the horse racing world just like their mother and great grand father and great great grand father.

What fraction R U talking about? The 22:49 last quarter that Zenyatta ran in the Hirsch? - LOL. Don't blame Z for her jockey's mistakes. Z would be a LOT faster on dirt as she proved in the Apple Blossom. I love RA too and if RA runs as a 4yo she will be even better. Nobody knows who would win until they look each other in the eye. Big Z loves having a target to run at, if the target goes fast, Z goes faster.
all true, again if ur point is speed, Sec wins hands down, only Spectacular Bid may have been faster, but greatness is a hard to define category, all these belong there.
In my opinion,they are pretty close together,no offense, because Secretariat lost some races but the fact that he did something impossible made him very well known.Zenyatta didn't even make the Kentucky Derby,(because of multiple minor injuries) but she only lost once out of all of the races she did.Only by a nose. (I think it's 13 out of 14 races she won) That's why she's so well known.But, i do think Secretariat still pulls ahead. :)

Great horse, but hard to skip over Eclipse, Man O'War Kincsem, Secretariat, War Admiral, Citation. Best mare is debatable.

@indkeith I respectfully disagree with that statement. How is a world record-smashing victory into the immortality of the Triple Crown boring? And please don't disrespect Sham. Although Secretariat came ahead of him in the Kentucky Derby, Sham broke the track record, too. Zenyatta has beaten nothing close to a Sham. And I honestly doubt Zenyatta could even cover a mile and a half. Much less create a new world record or win by 31 lengths. Big Red would dominate Zenyatta, sorry.

i think you forgot that one of the losses was a disqual on a race he actually finished first. but thats a technicality. MANO nothing but respect, he's on MT Olympus with SEC. It isnt about won-loss record that makes them great, its what they did. SEC unparalleled: 3 crown races, 3 records; 3 different ways of winning - all remarkable; 1 ran ea 1/4 faster than last - unprecedented and never duplicated; 2:24 and 31 untouchable numbers. 2 of the records still stand 39 yrs later. Secretariat.
Man O' War had a 100 length win. 28 foot stride. Secretariat ran on better tracks with gates, better nutrition and supplements.

Best female horse of all time = the undefeated KINCSEM. Look her up. 54 wins in 54 starts, against the best males in Europe.
Zenyatta versus Ruffian = close call. A great mare, and a great filly who died before her time.
Best male horse of all time? Man O'War or Secretariat. Again, close call. Secretariat had the greatest ability of any horse in my lifetime, could not be defeated if he brought his A-game, which he didn't always do. Man O'War = nearly perfect career. Flip a coin.

By the way, I had a horse that had both of these greats in her bloodlines... she was a wonderful athletic horse with a lot of attitude (may she RIP).

Zenyatta was a star but certainly not the best t-bred ever. There are just too many better ones ahead of her. Where to start ....
Shame she didn't win her last race though That would possibly qualify as the biggest "heartbreaker" in racing history when she just lost the Breeder's Cup.
The guy on Tidal Dance was not a very good rider. He didn't have a steady seat and had a bad case of swinging freely longer leg syndrome.

She too carried weight and had charisma to rival Big Red's. As for ur assertion that Sec would've beaten Man O' War, what planet are u on? Different eras are hard to compare. if you're talking speed, though, Sec was the fastest ever, bare in mind he did lose five, count 'em, five times. Man O' War and Queen Z? Once!

Zenyatta is not the best horse ever. look at her past performances over the years and most of the fillies and mares she beat where claimers and her 2009 Classic win was against dirt and turf horses on synthetic and her 2010 Classic win was against Blame, a horse we will all forget in a year or two.
I don't have time right now to watch the video, but the answer is No. Only someone relatively ignorant of TB racing history would consider this a serious question.
