Ava. Jk but not really. I don't want them to keep trying to push pre-adolecent characters just because they can. They've missed two out of three times they have. It's time to stop.
Please make the maps more tangible for loot I cannot remember the amount of times red rain in the slaughterstar 3000 dropped my rowans call into the void or gate killing master gee causes my loot to fall through the floor
One thing I want for borderland 4 as a console player have a respawn system like Elden ring or dark souls where I can go to a save station and just respawn bosses and bandits instead of me having to save and quit every time.
honestly it just keeping 3s metho of respawning at checkpoints would be enough for me, my ps5 can prob save and quit in 30s, it was definitely longer than that on previous gen but its not coming to them
That would be awesome. Save/quit farming needs to go. They've proven it is possible with how digi-peak and takedowns reset if you die, and then you have the infinite Freddy farm in BL3.
@@Joltzdude139 or if they want to keep save quit farming, they NEED to add quitting with party so you don't have to reinvite your friends thousands of times.
Currently playing through BL3 again and it's made my number one thing I don't want: Mission objectives where you have to talk to NPCs that were ALREADY TALKING. We can go and do the objective when we're ready, we don't need to talk to them specifically unless it'll trigger something big.
AGREED! I was playing yesterday and I was taking back the base with Lorelei. After we took it back, I had to talk to Lorelei, then contact Rhys, then talk to Lorelei after the call, and THEN talk to her a third time just for her to give me a Cyclone. That sequence could've just played out after we took the base instead of needing to talk to one person 3 times, it's a bit ridiculous.
Please dont kill off prior vault hunters to make the villain look good, or at least if you do make it more like how Roland's death was treated and not Maya's. When the Calypsos popped in and instakilled Maya it didnt make me think the Calypsos were strong, it made me feel like the writers hated Maya and wanted her out of the way to prop up Ava.
Handsome jack instakilled Roland too. Why are you acting the calypsos are the only villians to nothing personal a main character? And of all Roland’s death was his own fault. You’re telling me a seasoned vault hunter and leader of an entire resistance is going to one of the most heavily guarded places on pandora and not once does he think “huh maybe I should stop by one of the many medic machines and pick myself up a shield” ? Give me a break
@@nathanhendrickson790He was literally an ex crimson lance engineer and we’re supposed to believe he went into a dangerous mission with no shield? @@nathanhendrickson790 it's not just the death scene specifically, it's how characters react to said scene. Rolands death felt like it had more weight. If you never seen it, look up the cut content that has the conversation between Lilith and Eva. It's not a lot, but it would've elevated Eva as a character and she needed all the help the writers could give, the fanbase almost universally despises her.
About the intro part. In pre sequel, I think it was handled pretty well. You are still greeted by a claptrap but you go straight to the action and no bs.
@@OhCrapI_Henot true, the actual intro on pandora is ok. You fight a mini boss in the first few minutes. Then in like 15 min you link with Ellie, go get Vaughn, then you go to the cov center and fight your first boss…..outside of the AI being so damn stupid ( they stand still as you shoot them in the face) it’s one of the more enjoyable parts of the game. You also meet tannis.
Can we do like a ritual trade Ava for Maya? Like her character in 3 was awful the dlc was bearable but idk what can be done to salvage such a mess besides redoing past events
From a balancing perspective, the biggest thing I don't want is out of control exponential scaling. End game gear doing 6,000,000,000,000 damage adds nothing to gameplay and makes damage numbers meaningless screen pollution. Tone back the scaling. Despite all of its faults, Pre-Sequel absolutely nailed game balance because it dialed it way back from BL2. Character abilities that scaled with level were powerful, but didn't trivialize the game like they do in BL3. Guns had reasonable and more importantly *readable* stat cards and visual feedback. Players shouldn't be forced to have a perfectly optimized build and abuse glitches to make certain weapon classes work. The same guns in BL2 that often feel bad because of the poor balance caused by exponential scaling feel awesome in Pre-Sequel due solely to dialing down the scaling factors.
You are 100% right. Sadly, they will remake BL 2 in essence. 15 OP levels, with another 10 standard difficulties and a billion base damage guns. It is going to be a puke worthy adnauseum of trash grinding only no life's want.
BL1 level scaling: 0.85 + 0.15*level BL2 level scaling: 1.13^level BLTPS level scaling: 1.1^level? BL3 level scaling: 1.09^level I think something like BL3/TPS scaling would make sense, as long as other things don't get scaled out of control to be usable in ridiculously high difficulty levels *cough cough* Mayhem levels *cough*
The inventory slot unlocking part is especially bad in tps. You only unlock your 3rd weapon slot after you killl the Meriff which is way too long to only have 2
I feel like bosses like bunker and warrior did “immune phase” right you can always hit them as long as you can see them even if it’s harder at times you still can but in bl3 they disappear and can go immune right in your face
@@Gunshell66 bunker and warrior literally won’t die until they get into the position to die. And they are stuck on 1 hp till then so what are you talking about?
@@biotech500gtr "Talk to Lilith" was just the replacement for "Turn In" at the end of a mission, that was never a problem. It would be nice to have the option to skip dialogue you've heard before, though. Like, on subsequent playthroughs, you can end dialogue strings and skip straight to the objective changing if you wanted.
I have to say, your list includes things that show how much you are an end-game focused player. Not all of us are only interested in what the end game is, but LIKE the leveling process and spending skill points (don't just follow some UA-camr's build). None of the Borderlands have too many levels to suit me.
Exactly he wants to complain about too many levels being op but later whine about things being too hard like mayhem mode. Dude is just another millennial that thinks Bl2 is gold
@@Stim4 I feel like his argument is that there is no build diversity when you have too many skill points. It's not a difficulty thing And the problem with mayhem mode isn't that it is too hard it is that mayhem modifiers are just annoying, and there are too many mayhem levels which breaks the weapon balancing (you can't use most of the weapons on mayhem 11)
it's been so funny watching joltz get a little bit more cynical towards the franchise ever since the release of borderlands 3, but it also reflects how the entire community has gotten that way too because gearbox has been fumbling hardcore for years now
No doubt but BL3 is pretty decent in it's current state. Sure, there are things I still don't like about BL3 (anointments, class mods, story pacing) but I think some people have become a little too narrow-minded. It's not as good as BL2 (though it does certain things better than it) but it's not even close to being bad.
@theobell2002 I agree with you completely. Bl4 will never be good if they have to keep looking back at bl2 for differences. Let a game be a game, it doesn't have to be like another one or it will get boring
y'all really need to learn to let go of bl2... that game is not the end all of the franchise. gameplay wise, bl3 is superior in nearly every way in its current state. better game feel, enemy design, variety, collectibles... bl2 is a great game and a neat package but i really dont think the solution to make a great bl4 is to return to it. that game is dated now.
I don't want cringey writing. Borderlands writing went from, "funny in a messed up kind of way" to "maybe if we say our jokes louder they'll be funnier".
Borderlands has never been funny to me. Sure it got a chuckle or two out of me but it didn’t really do anything to me laugh. Maybe it’s cause I played it later than everybody else and the comedy isnt amy schumer bad but it’s not exactly step brothers or don’t be a menace funny either. Honestly I think the jokes both 2 and 3 had are pretty mid at best
@@nathanhendrickson790I loved the humor in bl1. Like when meeting tk baha and he says stuff like “see you later” even though he’s blind. Not the funniest game in the world, but infinitely funnier than “SHOOT ME IN THE FACE!” or “Oh no my favorite frozen yogurt shop!” in my opinion.
@@AnnBoye not to me. If you ask me the games that nail comedy the best are ace attorney and hifi rush. Stuff like that is what I find funny not people screaming garbage in my face. Plus you’re talking to someone who’s gonna speed through a borderlands story anyway I’m not exactly slowing down to listen to what some dude wants to scream about.
After playing borderlands 2 and 3 for 2000+ hours for the love of Pandora please add these things #1: Dialogue Skipping, let us skip dialogue after the 1st playthrough and for every other character you make afterwards #2: The ability to reset individual sidequests for the ones that give you those niche quest rewards but you want to get the best rolls on the items. Instead of having to restart the whole story or exit to dashboard before the game auto saves. #3: Going off Joltz request for duplicate cosmetics, give us the ability to turn them in to receive cosmetics you haven't unlocked yet for a price. This would greatly help those who hunt for the coolest looking skins for their characters. #4: More things to spend money on, other than refilling ammo, finding a cool grenade or gun in a vending machine, or ammo upgrades, it's pretty much useless in the endgame. Mostly because anything that is "premium" uses Eridium instead.
At least on pc you can just read only farm quest items, shouldn't have to be so but even if you can reset quest people will still just read only farm to avoid doing the same quest over and over. If they also allow the redo of side quest, the quest would need to give 0 xp on repeats to prevent just farming it to skip grinds
Dialogue skipping could be nice, but even better would be a story, that has you play tge game while dialogues play. Waiting for NPCs to give you Exposition is just annoying. I'll gladly hear someone explain to me why we need to kill the bad guy for the 100th time, but please, let me kill Bandits while i'm listening to it
Honestly just better writing, especially regarding the antagonist(s). Jack has much more personality beyond the vaults/vault hunters, he was doing stuff that was not directly to screw us or open the vault. The calypsos on the other hand, only antagonized us and mocked us while waiting for us to open vaults, and that’s all they had. Another comparison, once Angel dies, Jack becomes more angry and aggressive in his dialogue. Tyreen forgets about Troy almost immediately after.
I believe this is called "world building", in writing. The characters are considered actual people who while they might have an overarching goal or seek to stop others in their goal, still have human moments, still have other people they talk to, buy and sell shit, focus on aesthetics, focus on ideas emotions, have fun and sad moments, and just quiet moments where they read, or jam out or just eat some stuff. The best villains are villains not in spite of their humanity, but because of it. It's why the mainstream media freaked out around the stand alone joker movie, but it was business as usual for suicide squad. You can't really be scared about this weird thing that you don't understand enough to be scared about, it's why you heard about people in history not giving a fuck about eating off of uranium glass, because they didn't know enough to be scared of it.
They could rework Annointments into trinkets, where they are transferable from weapon to weapon, kinda class mods for your weapons with classic rarities
good idea, we already have gun buddies in bl3, might as well make them separate drops (while allowing you to use whichever cosmetic you like, of course)
I like this. Allegiance relics should also be available way earlier. They should have stats that boost the allegiance and make those items more likely to drop. You could do the same with, for example, a shotgun relic boosting shotguns and making them more likely to drop.
exactly. you know how annoying it is on console to get the pimpernel you want? i don’t get why they didn’t just make perv-e have a chance to drop it after you turn in the mission
For the destiny crafting bit You have the ability to make new world vendors, seasonal/episodic and raid weapons after repeatdly farming for and unlocking red border weapons. After grinding for them. From there you usually got a trashy roll of the gun and you need to use it (or shove in some materials for it to level up) and then more stuff (usually the desirable perks, weapon barrels and magazines) are up for you to use. With enhanced perks being a minor note of contention due to them being moderately better. (usually just buff extensions or some extra handling which wouldnt be an issue for borderlands because boosting the handling of a submachine gun wouldnt do that much never anything all that broken but people whine to whine so whatever) So yeah that's what destiny's qeapon crafting is, a reward for after you've grinded or target farmed for so that the endgame (raids, dungeons higher level nightfalls) become more accessible and easier to complete for newcomers and veterans to the game. Not a horrible implementation, but it's nice to have because yeah, RNG is a nightmare sometimes and mindlessly grinding away does burn people out.
I think weapon crafting is needed only if they keep weapons with lot of parts, they could make a machine that dismantle a weapon and give you one part, then you can mount your weapon with the various parts. So instead of grinding for godrolls you grind the parts you want, farming would become less boring, more complex and without making the game less borderlands in a bas way.
@@emanuelemorganti7043 they probably are. To be honest an attachment system is desperately needed because it's never communicated all that well that the look of your weapon (as in the model) actually matters. Like I didn't know that until the borderlands three. The fact that it mattered one two and presumably one was lost in translation and sucks a lot.
Over time it's gotten a lot better too. On release it was just terrible, awful, no good, material grind city, and they were more or less necessary over the randomly dropped versions of said weapons. Nowadays, the material grind isn't insignificant but not annoying, since it just uses the same materials you already were using to upgrade other gear, and lots of QoL was added on top of that to make it less of a time investment to level a weapon. That's also on top of the fact that basically every single new weapon, and various old Adept weapons, can be enhanced with similar materials to allow you to get your randomly rolled weapon to have the enhanced perks and other features like Mementos. That makes it so crafted items no longer invalidate random drops, especially the harder to obtain ones like Raid and Trials Adepts, and even sometimes gives them room to be *better* than the crafted versions since crafted guns can't have multiple perk selections for differing situations or use Adept mods. On release, crafting was definitely more controversial, and opinions ranged between "there's no chase for the best rolls anymore" and "I don't have a ton of time to play the game, so getting to get the best stuff whilst playing once or twice a week is nice" but now it's just a solid system that's at best really beneficial and at worst avoidable entirely.
@@Mintybird oh yeah definitely I just find that this story doesn't matter for how crafting is now so I didn't include it. Still kinda miss the resonance elements though. Even if they were just there for show.
I agree with most of these but one stuck out that I can't really agree with. The high levels make me feel overpowered, and having a bunch of skill points I can mess around with makes it feel worthwhile to grind out the levels. The exp farms will always be in the game no matter what the level cap is so maybe having multiple exp farms instead would be another good way or simply getting more exp for completing missions instead
I just hated how many times they increased the levels in 3 it was annoying to grind out the gear just for them to not be max level a few months later lol
@@jPlanerv2 I don’t mind two big increases throughout the games life span. Making you have to be more critical with your points in the beginning then letting you make your characters stronger later on in the games life span but minuscule increases for the sake of just making people want to refarm their gear every few months just to bring up play time was stupid and tedious.
My idea for a "Forge" or rather a "Grinder" was to make something that keeps the core mechanics of the game, farming and rarity, but also brings importance to EVERY loot. So basically my idea is make a machine that we can sacrifice items to level up our gear, so you just need to farm the godroll ONCE, and then you can keep it with you making that item actually be important, and depending on the parts or maybe the manufacture, if it matches the item you have, you get more xp sacrificing it, but you can still sacrifice any of the same item category to level up the gear you want. ~Also the fix for cosmetics is just instead of adding them to loot tables, just make them be rewarded through challenges, BL2 did that with some of them and it was great.
true man we'd love that I actually stopped playing borderland just for that you farm a good roll then you have an xp farm and you won't use that gun again because the level is wrong I hope someone mention this to them
idk if thats gonna work, the game pretty much showers you with loot, youll be able to get one op gun in the game and have it stick with you up till max level easily which idk if its gonna be a good idea, maybe you can only sacrifice the same weapon to level it up or maybe the leveling is limited to 5-10 levels
@@ab2dii467 You already stick with the same op gun anyway... the only difference is that you need to refarm it everytime because is underlevel. ~And also I know the game "showers you with loot"(my ideal world would be borderlands 2 loot), but all you need to do is balance how much xp you need to level the item you want, it needs to be enough to not be too easy, but not too much to be chore...
@@Cuestrupaster no, that's just how you personally play the game. I use whatever the game gives me, instead of farming the same item over and over. You might as well just save edit at that point, you utterly remove the "loot" element from a looter shooter. BL3 is also VERY easy, meta farming the same piece of OP gear over and over is unnecessary.
Borderlands 3 unfortunately just feels like half the important points of the story got left on the cutting room floor. For example, Ava's conversation with Lilith in the aftermath of Maya's death. Or the fact there's less than 5 minutes between the reveal that typhon had kids, and then Tyreen just says oh hey dad. There's so much of Nekrotafeyo and the story between the Calpyso-Delions that just got ignored.
No low-gravity platforming with instant death falls. No standing around waiting for orbs to charge. No super repetitive boss phases that hardly change anything between the phases. No 30 minute takedowns. But please bring back takedowns, Maliwan was amazing.
@@spikescafe3940 bruh there was only one low gravity thing and you really have to try to fall to your death in that section. I’ll give you the crystal thing Do you want a takedown or not cause you said you don’t takedowns and then you turn right around and say you do want them
Was surprised to hear you talk about "too many levels" which my mind immediately goes to the skill tree. I understand it would obviously suck if you have ALL skill tree's but would like to continue to be able to have the double skill tree format. Wanted to hear more about that from you and if you're not for that.
It got to the point where you could reliably max out the double skill tree and go halfway down the third. I kind of agree with him, that while you do want to feel overpowered, if it's coop it's pretty silly if you don't really need dedicated positions, because you can swap people out regardless of whether they are healers, damage dealers, tanks or buffers. Yes, they should be able to do these things on their own, but if every character not only can do all of these things, but every character can do everything, all the time, there is no solid identity to these characters, because Identity comes just as much from the cons as the pros. If their is no drawback, no restrictions on a character, you've made a blob, not a character.
They should make it possible to combine weapon parts that you want on guns so that you can keep grinding for gun parts but you don’t have to grind for the gun in one go.
They could add a recap mode for story, where instead of listening to dialogue for the whole playthrough. They could give the objective immediately while having a couple of characters narrate the game, just like a more fast paced pre sequel tvhm/uvhm playthrough.
I don’t want op or mayhem levels of all I think true vault hunter mode and maybe 1 upgrade pack for like ten more levels is more than enough. If they must absolutely be added don’t make me run a gauntlet over and over for it. K6 actually had a good idea; completing the three slaughter maps will unlock an op level per map, completing all 6 proving grounds which will be off limits until op 3 is achieved (doesn’t have to be on but it does have to be unlocked) will unlock an op level per trial, and finally the takedown which again will be locked until op 9 is achieved (again doesn’t have to be on just unlocked) will unlock the final level op ten and that’s it no more levels after that. It’s a good way to prevent burnout cause your always doing something different and just earning the levels without having to have them on will allow player to unlock them all without having to refarm every level. And it will introduce them to the endgame areas they can go to farm the best gear in the game. If all that was a thing in bl2 I would have zero complaints about the endgame
Nah OP levels destroyed the fun that Borderlands had. There is nothing fun about mandatory grog nozzle & slag simulator where most weapons and some kills are so unbalanced the enemies regen all their health by the time you reloaded.
@@svn5994 Borderlands 3 and Wonderlands proved that they can balance it somewhat around not needing a healing weapon. OP / Mayhem levels can work but just dont overdo them. Maybe have like three levels and not more than that.
I wouldn't mind if the immune phases were kinda like dark souls where it has a relatively short cutscene to initiate the next part of the fight. It wouldn't disrupt flow, and you can just skip it if you've already seen it!
I actually really like the anointment system, but I do agree that they were a little OP for just a button press. I think TPS had a great "anointment" system. They were minor little bonuses that you could get through the grinder. Make anointments which only give a small 6-15% damage increase or something. You can reroll them with a small amount of Eridium or something, but not hundreds.
I felt that gear requirement thing when I was playing as Zane, because it essentially went like this: So you're going to want these specific items for each of your slots, for guns you're going to want these elements, for your class mod your going to ideally want these skills boosted, but for every items you're going to want it to have this anointment. Zane was like the single most gear dependent vault hunter if you wanted to make him stupid powerful, which was a shame because I liked him the most of the vault hunters in BL3
Joltz my dude, I think you've actually gone so far and become such a speed running expert of these games that half your takes have gone out of touch. It sounds like you don't like the RPG elements as much, but I play it Because it's an RPG.
i dont really mind more parts and combinations because they were never mandatory, you never needed specific parts on weapons for it to be viable. what i really dont want is any type of crafting or changing parts systems, borderlands is built on RNG and its more fun if it stays like that
Yeah, BL3's weapon system (and endgame) isn't as bad as BL2's. The only real thing you needed to farm for was the weapon element of your choice. Even then, stuff like barrel accessories are pretty common to get on guns. The Godrolls in BL3 are more or less trophies or a really good gun.
to both ab2 and matthew, it was gun dependent. some guns were better with any average roll, but some were really hampered by not getting specific parts. so theres a good argument to be made that, if parts are to be large changes in stats, that there shouldnt be a million parts. or that parts shouldnt be strong boosts, so that average rolls are closer to god rolls
@@0xGRIDRUNR throughout my time playing BL3 (at end game), I never felt like that was the case. Even stuff like the Kaos (an off meta Dahl assault rifle), was pretty good with any element. It's just the low tier guns (like the woodblocker) that needed perfect parts, even then you can get an anointment for the gun to give it the kick it needs
@@echo5827 I get where you're coming from on this, it is too much to remember. It's also a feature I would want on Lootlemon. Instead of showing you a picture of the godroll, show the user a list of the parts that makes it a godroll. I think something as simple as having named parts (or just looking at the inspect tab in BL3) would be better. Weapon part knowledge going from BL2 to BL3 is quite a difficulty curve, but not impossible
Something that other games do that could help with the problems of too many items parts and rerolling is that other games only allow you to change one aspect. Like if you get a gun that's really good but the wrong element the wrong grip. They also could allow you to pick from a few options when rerolling or select exactly what you want. If they change rerolling like this it vastly reduces the chance to get a perfect gun and it doesn't make farming useless.
[IDEA] They should ad a tracker/collection log (like they have in Old School Runescape) for individual bosses and challenges, so you can tick off drops from your bosses and 100% it like you do at the end of your Alleigance playthroughs.
I don't know why no one is talking about how detrimental the face puncher and other guns that did melee damage was to true melee builds in borderlands. It literally made true melee builds unviable. Instead of high risk high reward like melee builds are supposed to be, it was just always better to use a gun on a "melee" build. It just became another type of gun damage. And resulted in strong melee tools like the white elephant to be nerfed into the ground.
not only that, those items were beyond busted too. the fish slap is the best bossing build (yes, an _item_ is the best _build_ ) in the game for everyone but zane (assuming short fuse doesnt work, like on hemo)
I don't really think they should make guns do melee damg either but true melee builds are unviable cause they just dont do good against bosses and that has always been the case in borderlands. bl2 doesn have melee guns but melee kinda just sucks against alot of bosses especially raid bosses. They need to actually make melee good in bl4 and maybe add melee weapons like they have in wonderlands
Couldn’t you just choose to not use those guns? Maybe it causing the nerfs I get, but those guns were still fun to use and not everyone would feel this way.
Something I really wanna see again though... Bring back tricking! Undocumented skill-based mechanics make the game so much more fun when you master them. Rocket jumping, grenade jumping, drop reload, double shot, effect stacking, crit stacking, etc. Speaking of reforging/crafting: Diablo 2 did it best with runewords all those years ago. Instead of sitting at the table all day rerolling, you are encouraged to engage with the game - farm runes (some monsters/quests drop them consistently), find the good basic rarity item for a base, put the runes in it in the right order - and vola! A runeword item with consistent effect types made at your level, solving two problems - having a source of good weapons at your level as you play, and a consistent way to make an item with the effects you want. Of course it comes with its own share of problems, such as some runewords being vastly superior than most uniques, but at least it doesn't kill the adventurous spirit. You can easily repurpose and build on this system to make it work in BL.
Valid points but here's some fixes I prefer: - Modifiers: Keep them but make them optional. Something to do as a flex or for better drop rates on top of Mayhem levels. Have a way to choose specific ones at a cost of cash and Eridium because god knows we need a sink for that at endgame. - Anointments: yeah, they can go or be reworked as super rare weapon parts. Like the pearl of weapon parts. - Weapon parts: Keep adding more but add a facility to customise them to the parts you want at a heavy cost to cash and Eridium so it doesn't replace farming so it's used to make tweaks to loot instead. Similarly let us spend cash/Eridium to level up our gear to our current level so quest rewards stay relevant and my build doesn't require a complete refarm every time a level cap increase drops. My ideas: -Bring back Vault Cards, bring them back at launch. It's like a Battle Pass, but always available. Like Helldivers warbonds. And bringing them at launch means players won't be bored of game content when they arrive.
i agree with everything but one thing: farming in borderlands is optional i'm the only one in my friend group that farms some items when playing alone, other times we play coop and just pick up the best loot from the ground only if we're stuck near the end we start looking for upgrades and needless to say i don't bring them to the bad end games parts (op lvls, mayhem 10 or less, chaos lvls)
Thing about the Auto-sell feature in BL3; it _Doesn't_ work with skins. Even if you have the filter set to sell all epics and below, skins will _not_ be auto-sold and still clog up your inventory. It sucks.
In regards to weapon/parts crafting, what about parts switching? Meaning you have to find the part you want on the gun you want to combine/switch with an existing weapon of the same kind. Non uniques can switch with weapons of the same type and rarity, maybe the same manufacturer if you want more precision. This would still be "farming," but now it makes the perfect weapon achievable for those who cant grind for hours a day.
I think more part combinations is a good thing. It’s more to farm for, for sure! But I think it makes farming worthwhile when you know there’s a slightly better version of your gun out there.
I remember getting made fun of on reddit for saying what you said about gear slots unlocking so late. I can guarantee that opinion there changing now with this video coming out
I think the mayhem modifiers are actually really fun and interesting when you just want a chaotic experience after either grinding or just to turn the challenge up a notch also if you don't want those super hard ones you can just reroll (I believe so at least) I love your videos keep it up
May be a hot take but about the million weapon parts: I don't like the idea of "the perfect roll", some people are just allergic to not use the perfect rolled meta build and I think is fine to have the odds of a very specific roll be unrealistically low. Obviously the effect of each part should not the that high and you need to have decent odds of rolling something close to what you want (right element + prefix maybe), but it's ok to have a .3s longer reload speed and 2% less dmg, you can still farm more if you want.
The problem is the existence of the better version. I have 3 different sandhawks on my Maya currently (UCP for farming them). Flying corrosion with a Dahl grip, flying shock with a tediore grip and a no accessory fire with a Dahl grip. For the shock one, my last burst stops after 2 rounds instead of having a satisfying 7 because the mag size is too low and I have to reload prematurely. The fire one on the other hand is basically unable to hit stuff that is middle distance and moving because the bullet speed is too slow. Im working with them, but these noticeable diferences in not neccessarily damage, but gameplay feel are what makes farming for a better one so appealing. But if you remove a significantly better version, a lot of people will just settle with anything they immediatly get and therefore remove the farming sensation and the satisfaction of getting a good drop
I think a lot of it is the people like Jolts who seem to farm for the same exact pieces of gear every game. Me personally I agree. I usually just take what I get and leave. I dont farm at all
Honestly I just don't want additional stats on Class Mods. Having one you kept from a lower level because it had good Skill Points felt cool, but then finding out you could be missing out on like 40% more damage and mage size is awful.
Duplicate protection for cosmetics would be GREAT from the start, there's no need to make a trade market of the cosmetics when letting people farm them out is better for the games play cycle.
My take for the immune phase issue, is that they are perfectly fine, for the STORY kill only. After that, just have them be turned off, or give us a toggle for them. Also, I do NOT want to see 4th skill trees, give us new characters! The idea was fun, but new characters are.. funner
I should make a YTP of BL2 and use that line when Jack kills Roland Heck, it might work just as well in a YTP of BL3 when the Calypso twins fridge Maya
ive put a lot of thought into crafting in a bl game, and i have decided that i dont think it would be great, for a part system like bl2, but if its another situation where its like bl3 and theres is only a 1 in 8,000,000,000 to get one you want getting it one part at a time makes sense. I would MUCH rather just have reasonable farms.
Something I want to see in borderlands 4 would be when you level up your character you can see your character develop/change looks depending on what skill and or skill tree

All I want is that legendaries not be so frequent in the next game. I still want them of course, just make them a bit more rare.
@@kanegrant1887 dont listen to that looser with stick in his ass. You are correct legendary drop too early and frequently in bl3, purple and lower rarities are pointless in this game after level 13 since because by that time by just playing blindly you will get at least 4 legendary guns that will carry you for 5/15 levels till you find next legendary gun just from worlddrop or vending machines. In BL2 or Presq if you play the game through the story without stopping to fram named enemies that have dedicated legend drops, your kit will be mostly purple and one or 2 legendaries, in BL3 you will be running in full 4 gun slot legendaries and granade mods for most of the game since prologue.
i've always thought a fun way to try and make farming less tedious is to make weapons be able to swap their parts around. that way, you still have to farm a weapons for a decent amount of time, but you can then swap the parts you want onto whichever gun you want you use so you don't have to farm over and over for the perfect version. i'd probably make it so it's locked to manufactuar, rarity and gun-type, so you can only swap parts if all three are the same (e.g. you can only swap maliwan legendary sniper parts with other maliwan legendary snipers), just so you can't cheese it by just swapping white rarity parts on a legendary weapons and so on. feel like it'd make farming a lot more appealing for the average person and make an obtainable goal you can work towards. plus i think it'd help educate people on how parts work and let people experiment, give a new level of complexity in a way the player can mess with.
Ngl I kinda like the high level stuff because it makes the player feel very powerful when it's done I get that this issue kinda feeds into the ridicously high mayhem/OP levels, but I kinda want them to keep the high character levels Not a fan of the XP grinding tho lol
The problem is that it trows the balance of the game off a cliff in bl3 if i get a World drop hello Walker at lvl 6 it will last me (and one shot every thing) till the final boss or in bl2 were 75% of the weapon are pointless once you reach op 10 ,and a moxxy weapon (Grog 90% of the time) is almost mandatory to not die the second 2 enemis shoot at me
I agree that op/mayhem level should end at level 5 but max character level with dlc should cap off at level 80 to 82 so you can max out two branches of the skill tree and some points for the basic skills of a third branche at max level in specially with 4 skill branches per character that seems fair
Honestly can't understand point about crafting when in bl2 you can spent around 72 hours "killing same boss in 30 second - savequit - log - repeat" loop for just one item, there is not even some gameplay, you just watching films, working , and even playing other games on second monitor when your play loop look like : " press shot couple of time/ hold shoot/ press grande/ press ability" (choos one of your preferred) you don't care about enemies, you don't care about movement, what you doing and etc , you just killing same enemy for hours to just get one item, there is not roaming, exploration , and difference at all, its more like spinning casino - you pressed button till you win without any thinking involved

I understand dedicated drops. I am not a farmer either. I like playing through the game again and seeing how different buikds interact with the game. Bl3, despite what it seems, was not as diverse. Click button, aoe something, dead stuff. Thats almost every build. It just doesnt feel different unlike in one, which had few builds, at least felt distinct from each other.

I dont want to shoot, i want to puch and slice. Maybe i want to be an actual sniper, or melee specialist, or true assault class. Again, the complaint isnt that there is less build diversity, but that the builds mostly feel the same.
i get you, i really dont like super repetitive grinding in games, it feels super boring and slow and id rather be doing *some* sort of mission, i did enjoy playing the maliwan takedowns and bandit slaughterhouses with others though i love how borderlands' combat (usually) feels, its fast, its fun, the vault hunters or bandits always have something silly to say in the middle of combat, most of my time is just dedicated to replays and doing the dlcs, which is what makes me really really wish the writing was on par with how the gameplay itself feels
one BIG thing i want the Borderlands series to go back to is LOWER VALUES, im over the 20000k or 20m damage numbers, just reduce the multiplication factors, borderlands 1 had a perfect number system and then 2 came along and screwed it
Nah I prefer the big numbers. I've played my share of RPGs with very low scaling in terms of damage, health, etc, and it isn't as satisfying at all. I don't want to deal 20 out of the enemy's 120 health with every shot.
Borderlands 3 felt like a cluster f- in mayhem 10, showed my dad the game awhile ago because he's a fan of the first game and was curious if the new one was worth playing so I showed him my max lvl flak on mayhem 10 and I was farming the maliwan invincible at the time and all I remember is what he said. "All I see are bright colors and explosions, how can you tell what's going on?"
I don't know if this is possible, but I'd like it if your first playthrough the drops are weighted for white, green, and blue rarities, and then once you're in end game weight it in the other direction. If I pick up a legendary at level 5 then guess what I'm playing with for the next 10 levels or so rather than trying out all the other guns that fall at my feet.
Great video as always! For the forge thingie, in my opinion if they have one that you can throw, lets say, 20 copies of the legendary to get a better one (never perfect) would be good, i agree that farming is the point but rng can feel extremely depressing sometimes

100% with you on faster unlocking of equipment. This always drives me nuts. All 4 guns should always be open. Then every key mission open another thing. I get learning what relics and cons are. But yeah it takes forever
2:30 maybe a parts workbench? so you can customize your gun to be the build you want it to be, at some cost of something. also not gonna lie. if i grind long enough to get all the skill points, i'd love to max out all trees.
@@altaraeastral9288 yes but I also think you guys being paranoid. the last game didn't nickel and dime us plus fans already looking for a reason to drop the series
@@commanderblack5045 no it doesn't, if you have to pay and still have to grind for the rewards that's a battle pass. If you want to buy a skin or a golden key that's a micro transaction
If forging has to be added it should be taking copies of a unique and changing one piece at the cost of the item and maybe you can only change 2 parts per gun
To be fair in Destiny 2 you have to get 5 of the same weapon with a specific border to be able to craft it and then you have to either level it by using the gun or just use materials and by now the crafting is really nice made especially with being able to craft the exotics or "special weapons" that have even more effects now which make them even more fun and or busted too
I think annointments/enchantments can be a perfectly fine mechanic to keep in the game if they just tune it better. Either severely reduce the cost of randomly refilling anointments, and/or make it so the player has significantly more agency over what annoint they get when they roll. Also the effects obviously shouldn't be as crazy as they were in BL3. They should just be a nice bonus to have rather than a necessary one to have.
If Anoints were like Luneshines that could spawn on drops, I don't think people would really hate the system that much. But the fact they legit make or break builds is just horrible
I agree with what you've mentioned. I would like to add in the 'not wanted' list: - Annoying characters like the Borderlands 3 twins. They removed what joy I would've had for the game, let alone any future replay of the game. - Too many game bugs. I was super excited to play Tina's Wonderlands once it came to Steam but that quickly went away as I played with the numerous UI bugs, in particular the vendor UI. Also some other things that I have forgotten at this point.
great idea, easy to fall into a design trap though with forcing you to play huge quests or even quest lines to get an end game build, ruining replayability. HOWEVER, i am the last person to use that as a reason to not add that to the game. i think endless grinders should be the last people prioritized when making a game like this.
The point about adding more and more weapon attachments is valid. I feel like the easy fix is a putting a workbench into the main hub area (or post story) to mix and match 2 of the same weapons into 1 with the chosen parts. Reduces farming time and nuance overtime. Downsides would be not really having “elusive” drops and some dopamine rush when you get THE drop.
Just have Ava be the villain, she goes mad with Mayas power you have to take her out and just before you do Kriegs buzzaxe hits her in the head and everyone's happy :)
Agree with a lot of these, particularly the anointments and part combinations. "Too many levels" could be solved by having a small number of side quests reward a skill point upon completion. You have a lower level cap, but still can spec down to a certain point in 1-2 trees by doing side quests (please make them interesting though!) Immune phases I'm ok with DURING STORY MODE. After you've killed the enemy once during story mode, get rid of them for subsequent farming
I had an idea that I think will satisfy both the "too many weapon parts" and "weapon crafting or grinding" problems, perhaps for both sides. Basically, a weapon part recylcer and recombinator inspired by the TPS grinder. Here is how it would work: Whenever you get a legendary, you can choose to grind it down in the recycler for a chance to keep one of the parts it has in your weapons/parts vault or whatever. You can then later add that part to another of the same legendary you already have and do that with multiple parts. This would keep the grind for weapons and parts from various (gosh-dang better be dedicated) sources. It would take some numbers balancing, but I could see a system where you have to grind out 10,20, 100+ of them to get all the parts you want. The base drop rate, part recycling chance, and amount of parts recycled could all be adjusted for balancing. There could even be some secondary progression to invest money/other currency in to the recycler to upgrade it. I believe this can satisfy all parties. GB can keep adding a ton of different weapon parts, as with this system it could be used to actually make more weapon diversity, you still have to grind a ton to get the perfect set of parts you want for your build, and people who want more deterministic options know that they have a much more clear path to an eventual perfect drop. There's also no sitting in front of a bench for most of your playthrough crafting, you just put together the pieces that shows how much you grinded for. This also adds another level of completionism past collecting all legendaries, you can collect all legendary parts too. And if you still want something drop-only, just bring back Pearls and make them super rare and not recycle-able. They could even have set, non changing parts or just be really rare or be raid-boss only.
@@ImANoobLetMeWin no i wouldnt. you said it yourself, he plans on playing the game a lot, its literally his job. someone who has to play the game for thousands of hours wont have the same opinions as someone who plays the game recreationally in their free time

They remind me a lot of weapons or pieces of armor in Diablo that include enchantments or buffs that change up your playstyle or help make you really OP. TBH the more Borderlands feels like Diablo the better

BL1 level scaling: 0.85 + 0.15*level
BL2 level scaling: 1.13^level
BLTPS level scaling: 1.1^level?
BL3 level scaling: 1.09^level

#1: Dialogue Skipping, let us skip dialogue after the 1st playthrough and for every other character you make afterwards
#2: The ability to reset individual sidequests for the ones that give you those niche quest rewards but you want to get the best rolls on the items.

Yeah, they fridged Troy almost as bad as Maya.
I appreciate the bullet hells in his boss fight, though.
What I would like are relics that can skew drops, like allegiance relics that slightly increase the chance of Maliwan weapons or parts to drop.
Expecting the parts system will come back... If it comes.
I like this. Allegiance relics should also be available way earlier. They should have stats that boost the allegiance and make those items more likely to drop. You could do the same with, for example, a shotgun relic boosting shotguns and making them more likely to drop.
Quest reward uniques need to be farmable from dedicated drop locations.
exactly. you know how annoying it is on console to get the pimpernel you want? i don’t get why they didn’t just make perv-e have a chance to drop it after you turn in the mission
For the destiny crafting bit
You have the ability to make new world vendors, seasonal/episodic and raid weapons after repeatdly farming for and unlocking red border weapons. (usually just buff extensions or some extra handling which wouldnt be an issue for borderlands because boosting the handling of a submachine gun wouldnt do that much never anything all that broken but people whine to whine so whatever)
So yeah that's what destiny's qeapon crafting is, a reward for after you've grinded or target farmed for so that the endgame (raids, dungeons higher level nightfalls) become more accessible and easier to complete for newcomers and veterans to the game.
Except Bungie removed the deepsight material & kills part ages ago because it was stupid. Your information is extremely outdated.
@@ccasillas118 there should be set max level from the start of the game no changes with dlcs etc
~Also the fix for cosmetics is just instead of adding them to loot tables, just make them be rewarded through challenges, BL2 did that with some of them and it was great.
true man we'd love that I actually stopped playing borderland just for that you farm a good roll then you have an xp farm and you won't use that gun again because the level is wrong I hope someone mention this to them
This sounds like a very good idea
idk if thats gonna work, the game pretty much showers you with loot, youll be able to get one op gun in the game and have it stick with you up till max level easily which idk if its gonna be a good idea, maybe you can only sacrifice the same weapon to level it up or maybe the leveling is limited to 5-10 levels

The writers from 3 and beyond are at the top of my list for what I don’t want in this game
I’ll take the BL3 DLC writers, but whoever did the base campaign can go veryyyyyy far away
Honestly the DLC were written good, especiall the one where Hammerlock gets married in BL3.
@@iNSANELYSMART409I agree I love the DLC stories
Yeah. They fucking fridged the fan-favorite femme fatale. They should get a restraining order from the Borderlands franchise.
@@iNSANELYSMART409 The writer of that DLC is writing for BL4.
They could add a recap mode for story, where instead of listening to dialogue for the whole playthrough. They could give the objective immediately while having a couple of characters narrate the game, just like a more fast paced pre sequel tvhm/uvhm playthrough.
Or even put the dialogue into the quest log like bl1 does
I don’t mind OP levels but add more variety. “Custom enemy variants and give them a special attack”.
And have said’ gear drop on level.

I wouldn't mind if the immune phases were kinda like dark souls where it has a relatively short cutscene to initiate the next part of the fight. It wouldn't disrupt flow, and you can just skip it if you've already seen it!
Or if they gave you something to do during the immune phases, like dodging bullet hells or something.
They DO often do this, when it's like, a new splash intro card for "That guy but now he's in a giant mecha suit!!" or whatever. Just... not enough.
I felt that gear requirement thing when I was playing as Zane, because it essentially went like this:
So you're going to want these specific items for each of your slots, for guns you're going to want these elements, for your class mod your going to ideally want these skills boosted, but for every items you're going to want it to have this anointment.
Zane was like the single most gear dependent vault hunter if you wanted to make him stupid powerful, which was a shame because I liked him the most of the vault hunters in BL3
Joltz rare Saturday upload
Yeah but it ruins unique gear parts farming basically the whole reason joltz has 300k hours in bl2.
9:04 agree lol
Joltz actually tweeted about this and said he didn’t like it
It's a gun game. With silly lil guns, oh well
Borderlands 3 had a huge missed opportunity to not use the peak as a way to test our vault hunters as a sort of intro mission.
Valid points but here's some fixes I prefer:
- Modifiers: Keep them but make them optional.
My ideas:
-Bring back Vault Cards, bring them back at launch. It's like a Battle Pass, but always available. Like Helldivers warbonds. And bringing them at launch means players won't be bored of game content when they arrive.
i agree with everything but one thing:
farming in borderlands is optional
i'm the only one in my friend group that farms some items when playing alone, other times we play coop and just pick up the best loot from the ground
only if we're stuck near the end we start looking for upgrades
and needless to say i don't bring them to the bad end games parts (op lvls, mayhem 10 or less, chaos lvls)
I can guarantee that opinion there changing now with this video coming out
I think the mayhem modifiers are actually really fun and interesting when you just want a chaotic experience after either grinding or just to turn the challenge up a notch
also if you don't want those super hard ones you can just reroll (I believe so at least)
I love your videos keep it up
May be a hot take but about the million weapon parts: I don't like the idea of "the perfect roll", some people are just allergic to not use the perfect rolled meta build and I think is fine to have the odds of a very specific roll be unrealistically low.
I dont farm at all
getting rid of randy pitchford would be a start
Honestly I just don't want additional stats on Class Mods. Having one you kept from a lower level because it had good Skill Points felt cool, but then finding out you could be missing out on like 40% more damage and mage size is awful.
Duplicate protection for cosmetics would be GREAT from the start, there's no need to make a trade market of the cosmetics when letting people farm them out is better for the games play cycle.
My #1 ask for console players is not having to restart the game to farm a boss. Doing this on BL3 on a PS4 was a brutal un-fun experience.
I'm sorry? You full on restart the game? Just fast travel somewhere else and then fast travel back, the boss will be alive again
My take for the immune phase issue, is that they are perfectly fine, for the STORY kill only. After that, just have them be turned off, or give us a toggle for them.
Also, I do NOT want to see 4th skill trees, give us new characters! The idea was fun, but new characters are.. funner
I feel like having 4 skills trees off the bat could be nice though, but extra characters is definitely preferred
I want both, Characters and 4th skill trees
The only “item crafting” I would take in bl4 is being able to go to Marcus and change the sight on a gun that’s it.
I actually love the “great another dead Vault Hunter”
I should make a YTP of BL2 and use that line when Jack kills Roland
Heck, it might work just as well in a YTP of BL3 when the Calypso twins fridge Maya
Most people don't have a huge amount of time to try find that perfect gun or item for their build, forging could be really good if they do it right.
I think there could be a different system for the mayhem modifiers to customize them and not tie them to the endgame difficulty modes
ive put a lot of thought into crafting in a bl game, and i have decided that i dont think it would be great, for a part system like bl2, but if its another situation where its like bl3 and theres is only a 1 in 8,000,000,000 to get one you want getting it one part at a time makes sense. I would MUCH rather just have reasonable farms.
Something I want to see in borderlands 4 would be when you level up your character you can see your character develop/change looks depending on what skill and or skill tree
I think BL3 does this a little
Ooooo like Deathtrap! That was a cool little feature.
I think when it comes to weapon crafting, I would love to see the grinder come back in some way

2:48 FINALLY SOMEONE POINTS OUT HOW BAD THE SYSTEM IS!!! Having class mods/relics that can roll 1 of 27 different additions instead of set bonuses was such a turn off for end game BL3.
100% with you on faster unlocking of equipment. This always drives me nuts. All 4 guns should always be open. Then every key mission open another thing. I get learning what relics and cons are. But yeah it takes forever
Once again saying we need a way to reset side quests so we don’t need to read only farm or backup a save.
2:30 maybe a parts workbench? so you can customize your gun to be the build you want it to be, at some cost of something.
also not gonna lie. if i grind long enough to get all the skill points, i'd love to max out all trees.
No battle pass or micro transactions
When has borderlands ever had a battle pass? Why worry about it?
@@BlueCheeseLucci Many franchises add battle passes, you just never know if they'll do it
@@BlueCheeseLuccii am not sure but count the one thing where you unlock stuff by doing daily objectives as battle pass?
@@altaraeastral9288 yes but I also think you guys being paranoid. the last game didn't nickel and dime us plus fans already looking for a reason to drop the series
@@commanderblack5045 no it doesn't, if you have to pay and still have to grind for the rewards that's a battle pass. If you want to buy a skin or a golden key that's a micro transaction
If forging has to be added it should be taking copies of a unique and changing one piece at the cost of the item and maybe you can only change 2 parts per gun
what I'm hoping for, is just simple original Borderlands jokes and bosses, make it fun to replay.
Thank you for saying it! Anointments is probably the worst thing for me in Borderlands 3.
I never had visual pollution in Borderlands 2 until I played Salvador.
Wait until you play Krieg.
with Flame of the Firehawk
I agree with what you've mentioned.
I would like to add in the 'not wanted' list:
- Annoying characters like the Borderlands 3 twins.
If you want lots of Skill Points in the game, just have some quests award skill points the way BL 1 quests awarded Storage Deck Upgrades.
They even had that mechanic in 1.
great idea, easy to fall into a design trap though with forcing you to play huge quests or even quest lines to get an end game build, ruining replayability.
You have a lower level cap, but still can spec down to a certain point in 1-2 trees by doing side quests (please make them interesting though!)
Immune phases I'm ok with DURING STORY MODE. After you've killed the enemy once during story mode, get rid of them for subsequent farming
If they add more weapon parts it's going to be easier winning the lottery than the item version you want
I had an idea that I think will satisfy both the "too many weapon parts" and "weapon crafting or grinding" problems, perhaps for both sides. Basically, a weapon part recylcer and recombinator inspired by the TPS grinder. Here is how it would work:
Whenever you get a legendary, you can choose to grind it down in the recycler for a chance to keep one of the parts it has in your weapons/parts vault or whatever.

Ofc he is... wouldn't you? I mean he plans on playing the game a heck of a lot of time.

@@ImANoobLetMeWin no i wouldnt. you said it yourself, he plans on playing the game a lot, its literally his job. someone who has to play the game for thousands of hours wont have the same opinions as someone who plays the game recreationally in their free time
Honestly I want annointments back as long as they can actually do something engaging with them. They remind me a lot of weapons or pieces of armor in Diablo that include enchantments or buffs that change up your playstyle or help make you really OP. TBH the more Borderlands feels like Diablo the better
The level being too high and killing build diversity is such and underated point.

Stop nerfing gear and abilities. Fix an exploit or a glitch sure. But just nerfing a great piece of gear is such an unfun solution
I agree to an extend. If an item or an ability is FAR above everything else, a nerf is fine. However, I also think nerfs should always be accompanied by buffing other stuff as well.
@@theobell2002 why tho? If one item is really good then great leave it. Its not mandatory to use and all items will never be equal anyways. Just buff the bad ones
@@jasonandrews1770 I'm not talking about an item being just "really good". I'm talking about items that stand FAR above all others to the point it becomes a BiS item for every single build on every single character. That is a bad thing. You don't want that.
@@jasonandrews1770Counterpoint: Bee+Conference Call
make the design philosophy "Let's make everything AWESOME! :D" not "Let's make everything CRAP!" , example, the difference between Vanilla BL2 Uniques, Legendaries and Pearls that suck compared to the Unofficial Community Patch mod buffs to those weapons. make the buffed state the Vanilla state.
I personally like having alot of added dlc levels, a sense of progression through them when they come out is pretty important imo. And unless we get loudouts like they have in Destiny, having to swap EVERYTHING for a different build is wildly obnoxious.
