Azumanga Daioh is indeed a classic anime with its unique humor and memorable characters. The nostalgia it brings is a testament to its impact. It's wonderful that you're enjoying revisiting its soundtrack! If you have any more questions or need any other recommendations, feel free to ask!

I think I was around 24 years old when I first listened to this song and found it very joyful, now that I´m 40 this saddens me alot, because of reasons...
getting older? i feel that i hate growing up because of that I've been thinking about it everyday that im getting older, if you watched the anime that will double the pain
I'm a professional musician. Before I started my music career, I became a weeb, but unlike most people who became a weeb in their teen years, I didn't become a weeb until my early 20's. One of the first anime I saw was Azumanga Daioh (it was one of my first true comedy anime I actually watched all the way through). However, as someone who's been musical their whole life, when I heard this song, I was immediately like "I MUST DO A COVER OF THIS SONG BEFORE I DIE!!!". At the time I didn't have the equipment to do that. Now, I'm in the process of restarting my music career post-COVID and am working towards acquiring the gear and still plan on doing this song, because this is one of a very small number of Anime songs that have stuck with me for so long that I want to cover (the others being "Again" by Yui which is FMA: Brotherhood's opening, "Motteke Sailor Fuku" which is Lucky Star's opening, L's Theme B from Death Note, among a few others). This is one of those songs that sticks out to me and when you really break it down, it's very unique in its execution (also see Humanity Has Declined ending theme, it features the same singer and shares a similar vibe) which is probably why I gravitate towards it. So here's to hoping all goes well and I can get the gear necessary to completely recreate and cover this song as just a fun thing to do on the side to my main projects.
@@Luckingsworth Hey sometimes life throws curve balls. Sadly my current audio interface stopped working (didn't know it was one of the less reliable models from an otherwise reliable brand) and before COVID restrictions got lifted I came out as queer and as a result I was no longer allowed to go to the studio i used to do some contracting and session work (they're a religious based recording studio and didn't like the idea of a queer musician working in their studio). That's fine by me, just means I have to start all over which means a new interface of course but the big roadblock is a new Mac as my current model doesn't have the hardware specs to run a DAW without stuttering. Also, fuck the be MacBook Pros and their lack of USB ports for the price, I'm getting a Mac Mini instead and make it portable. Of course, curve balls being curve balls my main gaming/streaming/primary desktop is dying now so i have to pay out for two computers. So yeah, it doesn't change the fact I'm professional, just had to shift things around since the gear i did have broke before i could get the rest of it. That, and I'm not exactly a rich musician, just a paid one.
I’m a sucker for songs with String Instruments adding to the overall Harmony of the track and this song has this in spades, add the fact that Azumanga Daioh was one of the first animes I saw in full in my college years and this just has such a chilled and laidback nostalgic feel for me.

Just watching Azumanga Daioh for the first time in 2024. 22 years later it is hilarious. As part of a our composer team, the complex timing of this song caught me completely off guard. A really nice, simple melody floating on some serious Jazz timing.
I feel like the world of all the early-00s Japanese music I like is deeply intertwined... Yoko Ueno composed this track. She was a member of excellent folk band Zabadak. The guitarist of Zabadak played on Radical Dreamers from Chrono Cross. Noriko Mitose sang that song and also did music for the Ar Tonelico series. The singer on Raspberry Heaven, Masumi Ito, also did the image songs for Haibane Renmei, whose music was composed by Kō Otani, who composed for Shadow of the Colossus... I feel like I need a corkboard and string to map out all the connections
@@sawayaka_sawaday Azumanga Daioh is very underrated, I agree. However I don’t see Azumanga ever leaving obscurity despite the recent surge in popularity of anime in the west. This is namely due to how old the show already is and because the genre might not be appealing to most people.
