This woman is really doing some amazing work in her community. I really appreciate her compassion. People forget Democracy requires that people be involved.
Yesterday I was watching the story of the dad of another victim. I mentioned how I became more interested in that situation because we were looking to buy a property in the Whitewing neighborhood NOW I JUST HEARD A PODCAST where they said they did some home searches IN the WHITEWING COMMUNITY! I’m appalled! That property is out of the question, I don’t want to live next to parents who foster this behavior and even worse, having those murderers wonder around. This is awful, I can’t imagine being Preston’s parents or the other victim’s dad who know lives out of the country. The parents of the goons are just as pathetic as their kids! Justice for Preston!
I absolutely love this! I too with children who experienced trauma, neglect etc etc daily and this is such a refreshing point of view. I pray that the perpetrators and their families will find support not isolation at school, at work and in our community. I will add another piece to this puzzle. Housing security and economic situation of adults. Parents whose business is perhaps struggling and failing, gas prices skating, interest rates are through the roof, prices of food and every day items triples and quadrupled... Those parents are forced to focus on basic needs - how do I pay mortgage? How do I pay for food? Gas? for kids sport they absolutely love and thrive in? Believe it or not, losing ability to go to football or cheer is horrible, shameful and isolating for kids. All this adds up to overwhelmed, overworked, stressed out parents. Sometimes they can't cope And turn to old addiction... and it spirals. Is it right? No. Excuses? Maybe some?.. reasons for a lot of neglect? Absolutely.
Thanks for throwing this into the conversation. I think it shames the parents even more than the kids when they can't afford to let the kid do "kid things". It's how they forgive themselves that effects how they treat the children. Children are adaptive beings, they just need love and guardrails. They figure out the rest and become their own healthy people.
I need to add. Although we’re not longer considering moving to Queen Creek, and I’m sure other people may put it on hold too… I want to applaud this group for women for their courage and for what they’re doing because I’m sure they are actively saving other kids now that the eye of police is finally on those criminals. I sincerely applaud this lady and the other women!
Being the one being bullied, and no way to report it without fear of violent repercussions, is like living in a Max Sec. Prison. The guards, the other inmates, they are a part of the problem. I remember teachers telling the group bullying me in the classroom to ‘take it outside’. Eventually while off the school grounds, I fought back and the horde were sent running. Teachers did Zero to help, to curb the physical violence & intimidation.
Disagree with her on a few points, those kids chose violence, criminality and while many of them probably have less than stellar parents, they are adults in the eyes of the law and chose to physically and mentally abuse people. This goes beyond just some poor decision making, these kids hurt and murdered for fun! Think about that for a second, these kids display all the dark triad symptoms, and lack even the most basic signs of empathy. I have nothing but contempt and pity for these sociopaths, I only care about all their victims, and those are the folks we should be helping.
I don't think she was excusing anything. There's a difference between explaining and excusing. If we can understand why these kids did what they did, we can work to make sure other kids don't commit the same crimes. That doesn't mean the kids in this case shouldn't be held accountable for their wrongdoing.
Hugs and understanding and freeze-tag will not fix this problem, long prison terms, longer probation periods and being charged as an adult for adult sized crimes will fix the problem. The issues started at home and releasing them back into the same home will never solve the problem, it just gives it a pass.
First off it starts at home parents need to talk to thir kids as young ages an let them know fighting or jumping on someone don't solve the problem. An especially when a parent trying to covered up for there kids when they get in trouble or did something wrong . But thanks for these Moms what they are doing
Someone who I thought who was my friend she would not let me hang out with my other friends and she would to buy her stuff and I had to hang out with one for my best friends her step mom and one of of of the ladies who I know at my school
Are you stoned? Next time proof read before you send. And your writing indicates you need to do more school work and worry less about "hanging out with friends."
Good job, mamas! I’ve been really curious to understand local PDs involvement in social media surveillance and intelligence gathering for the purpose of fighting crime. Seems like a much more serious issue than just having their heads buried in the sand. Willful ignorance, then they blame these advocates for reacting this way, being advocates!? 🫠

need to make examples out of all of them

True, but she is 100% on point why and how to change it.
The current trend of excusing everything is disturbing. The truth is, if you don't raise your kids, prison and the streets will.
