People underestimate the Giant Schnauzer & the Standard Poodle as guard dogs. Highly intelligent, persistent…with the nastiest bite…these are 2 dogs you never want to cross…
I used to obedience train dogs. the hardest dog I ever trained was a Giant Schnauzer. Very stubborn and willful. Needed a strong owner. I managed it in the end but it was always a battle of wills.

Remember that dogs are individuals so there can be exceptions in any breed. If you're looking for a puppy look for one who is outgoing, not skittish or timid. Hope this helps.
The pom is MY breed. Absolutely love these dogs; I'm on my third one. This little fellow was certainly very alert, looking all around to be sure everyone was aware of him. 😊 It's a shame they don't seem to be as successful in these big-name dog shows as they should be. Just wonderful little dogs.

I'm surprised nobody ever seems to care about things that cause more misery, like crates,muzzles,and slave collars. Things that hurt their soul and whole life. The ears and tail are like circumcision. It hurts momentarily (I think they minimize pain) but they don't even remember it later on. (Idk why nobody tries to ban circumcision) BTW I'm not against you being against doxing. I just wonder why people's empathy only focuses on the immediately visible, but they never seem to actually put themselves in the dogs paws.. how many parallels do slavery and pet OWNERSHIP have? And are you for spaying and neutering/population control? How do you feel about men choosing abortion or sterilization issues for women? I'm complicit in some of these things. But I ponder it. This! We came about rescuing a Pug accidentally… always owned big athletic dogs prior. Well we are completely smitten by all things pugs now 😂 A lot of sass and a lot of laughs x
I adore pugs, but I think bernese mountain dogs come REALLY, REALLY close in terms of character. It's a really weird trade-off: both are the goodest boys & gals of them all, and while one suffers from so many things while alive, it gets quite old, and the other doesn't suffer that much while alive, but dies so early, on average around 8 years. 😢

@bnic9471 dogs pant to cool down. That's not something that can be trained. If a dog is too hot, they will pant. Good breeding plays a huge role in this likely had the building cooler as well as ensuring the dogs had plenty of water.
That cut has meaning. The "puffs" protection when hunting in and out the water. While the majority don't, they are in fact excellent retrieval dogs and know someone who poodle duck hunts

Dogs are only dying in shelters because of irresponsible backyard breeders and pet shops who sell dogs for the sole purpose of profit, and because of irresponsible owners. Responsible preservation breeders like the ones who show their dogs in this video all make a lifelong commitment to each puppy they bring into the world. They thoroughly screen all of their potential homes to make sure each puppy goes to a home that is fully committed and capable of caring for the dog for the entirety of its life, and they also specifically require each puppy buyer to sign a contract that ensures the dog will be returned to the breeder if for any reason they can no longer care for it at any point during its life. All responsible breeders follow this as standard practice specifically to make sure that no purebred dog ever ends up in a shelter. Your statement is misguided, misleading, and uninformed.

I have met some nasty pure breds though....and many purebreds come with health problems that have nothing to do with tested bloodlines. I love all dogs so not knocking them but I agree we have too many in shelters to continue breeding when so many need homes.

So the high and tight leashing style controls their head and does not choke them it is the most efficient way to lease your dog despite many people opting for a collar (which collars will choke because it's at the base of the neck), however, it can slip and catch on the thyroid/larynx of the dog when it's not held firmly and the bichon was not behaving very well lol so that leash definitely got some slack and when the owner tightened it again, it caught on their larynx. edit: leash not lease * auto correct is stupid

Geeze, a judge who started with Pugs chose the Pug as BIS. There were better dogs than the Pug. They moved better, had better structure/lines. Dog shows are very political which is why I stopped after finishing my first Champion.

Saw someone connected with the show express happiness that this year's winner aligned with national popularity rather than being an obscure breed. I suspect they want some kind of evenhanded rotation of breeds, since they purport to represent all of them. Also, how can you compare such disparate-looking and -behaving breeds without plenty of subjectivity?

Being trained (and focusing on the training), and being indoors is my guess. My pug's tongue comes out whenever she's excited, but she's just a puppy.
