  • Nashville kept Lionel Messi scoreless on Wednesday and suddenly Inter Miami's hopes of reaching the MLS postseason don't look as solid as they did a few days ago.

    This would’ve been their 4th draw in 10 games if the cup games were regular hands and in 2 of them as well as one of their wins they needed last minute Messi magic. So this team still has flaws that Messi has been covering up. He will have to keep doing or just to keep the team in it. Teams won’t be afraid of them as much as you might think

      Actually the team was fine. It wasn't there day at all. My only criticism of leo, was that he should have released the ball more often on wings when it was jam packed in middle of the park. Bring in Campana and try finding him through crosses.

    I won't say it a disaster of Miami doesn't make it to the playoff. They could finish the season with 2 Throphies. That itself is great for the club. Messi could miss 3 games of the 10 games left. There is no point putting pressure on him.

    Playing against a low-block side whilst being the best creator for Miami ain't really *off. I get the high standards everyone holds Messi to tho, but personally I hold him to the standards of any player and yes that results in being shocked an unhealthy amount. 2 amazing passes|

    I think the odds are just over 50/50 if they can make the playoffs, because:
    1) To make the playoffs you need to finish in 9th place or above. Over the previous 3 seasons the line for 9th place was 43.3 points.
    2) With 9 games remaining, they need another 18 points, assuming the cut off is going to be about 43 points again. They will therefore need to average 2 points per game.
    3) Given that the points system is 3 for a win, 1 for a tie and 0 for a loss, at a MINIMUM they need to win 5 games, tie 3 and lose 1 to hit another 18 points, out of the remaining 9 games.
    3) However, Messi is already scheduled to miss at LEAST 3 games, but it could be more, so they really have at MOST 6 games WITH Messi in which to hit 18 points; and not lose more than 1 of the remaining 3 - 4 games in which he won’t be playing.
    So, with 10 out of 11 games won and 1 draw, since Messi and the European players arrived, a target to achieve 5 wins, draw 3 and lose 1 isn’t a huge one. The odds are therefore not bad, they SHOULD make it, but I don’t think it’s a foregone conclusion.

    Chuck is wrong from the perspective of Inter Miami i think. Messi is not going to play sporting kansas game as he will be on international duty. So what is the point in resting him for LAFC game?
    Actually, it would have been interesting, if Tata had kept Messi in the bench, but busquests & compana stating i think. Would have upset Nashvile plans. Now their guess came right. It's a out being unpredictable and reading opposition plan correctly.

      @@waynebender1032 your observation with this ‘strategy’ is nothing new to Messi that he hasn’t seen in Europe. His teammates simply need to step up and take free chances

    • @drago0n10
      @drago0n10 9 місяців тому

      More than Nashville it was indecisiveness from Inter Miami in finishing their chances. Otherwise it would have been 3-2 to Inter Miami. This strategy won't work twice.. Messi needs little rest, i won't recommend him playing argentina for FT, he can make Inter Miami qualify for playoffs.
