Thank you so much @Rahdo. Your play-throughs are by far my favorite. I think the best part is how you work through yours and "Jen's" logic for each turn because that help to understand the game mechanics so well and what options are available. I am playing this game tonight, and feel I can just sit down and play and understand at least a base level strategy. You do a great job. Thanks!
Around 16:40, you added the two troops House Hagal received directly to the conflict. The space their worker went to isn't a Combat space, and according to the solo/2-player rules that means the troops go to House Hagal's garrison, not the conflict. So you would've gotten that point!

Dude, thank God you are you! I've watched many of your vids and loving how clear you are. This video made my day. A seemingly complex game...however, you broke it down in our terns. I played this for the first time at a game convention over Memorial Day weekend and ran the Earl; most of the time I used the "pokey stick dagger" most of the time to visit the council spaces rather than using them for skirmishes (that's what the intrigue cards are for!). I got a sear on the high council at turn 2; first turn visited the Emperor for wealth and then CHOAM for more solari.
I really enjoyed the deck building aspect but with the exception of one player (that only played once before) but our group was buying new cards and not really using Selective Breeding to thin out inferior (I don't like the term useless) cards.
Great game; I'm not really a board gamer but this is on my "buy list".
Gurney brought dagger to the Dune fight! You got me there man :D
Just imagine playing this game after watching the movie.. At least we still get to play this this year
I have a love/hate relationship with Rahdo's videos. The dude is so chaotic, all over the place, super high energy. But gosh darnit his videos usually help me understand the games better.

Oooh, I would've had Jen get the Guild Administrator on the first turn rather than the Arrakis Liason...loving that trash car feature and getting reputation with the Spacer guild.

In the first round, in the Combat section... House Hagal should have only had one cube in the combat. When House Hagal earned those two new cubes that was not a combat space, so those new troop cubes should have gone to their garrison... not the battlefield. Rahdo should have won the first combat.
Like Richard says at the start of the video, Turn On the Klingon subtitles... it was already noted there when the error of placing the 2 cubes in the battlefield was made...
When the actual combat was resolved there are no errors there because it was resolved correctly according to the state of the board at that time...

Should I read the Dune books or the movie is enough to get me on this theme?
since it's based on the movie, with art that looks liek the movie, i expect the new movie will be enough. but i'm no dune aficionado :)
@@rahdo thank you Richard. I think both this and the reprint of Dune were meant to be released alongside the new movie but the movie got delayed. I will wait for October to watch the movie first then. I don’t know if they have Vulcan in that universe but live long and prosper my good man 🖖🏼
While being somewhat abstract, it seems like this game does a good job capturing the feel of the book. Very excited to try this one!
Does it though? I mean, in an abstract sense it roughly has the feel of the universe as a whole
Dire Wolf is taking preorders for an Upgrade Kit which will have minis if that's your thing. It keeps costs low for those who don't like minis, and allows people the opportunity to buy-in if they want more immersion.
The upgrade kit definitely adds more theme to the game though i personally feel the game already is oozing with theme

question regarding getting the mentat... it's not permanent so why is it good to spend a worker to get a worker? ie why is it so good to spend two solari to draw a card?
because cards are the most powerful thing in the game, because you need to go to a region and you can't with the cards you've got, because you're desperate to draw that 2nd bene gesserit card to get the combo bonus, because you need just 1 more influence to buy a spice must flow card, etc. etc.
also, it's an area control game, and you're always best off being last in turn order so you can see what everyone else has done and then move in. playing more workers than anyone else lets you do that :)

thank god coz the direwolf runthrough was the most boring lecture ever i was about to take this no fun game back to the store.
