Just a few corrections ladies and gentlemen, One UI is not in Beta anymore. I pre-recorded my face a few weeks back when One UI was still in beta. Forgot to remove that small part from the video, sorry about. Also, some people are saying they can access Google Assistant with the new gesture navbar. I'm currently using XDA's T-Mobile One UI beta and I couldn't get it to work. But if you're running the official Samsung One UI then it most likely will work. Just try swiping up and holding. Sorry about that folks. Hope you liked the video still. :)
Just wanted to add that I enrolled in the Samsung OneUI beta on my TMobile S9+ and as of the latest update I'm currently able to invoke Google Assistant by holding up on the home gesture. I can't speak of flashing the TMobile XDA beta images as I did it the official way.
I have a few complaints about the One UI... 1.) They made the split screen mode annoying to use and it's not as fluid as before. 2.) I miss the list view for recent apps. 3.) I miss dragging the volume up and down in certain apps like UA-cam. I hate the fact that I'm limited to using the physical volume buttons.
I tried that when I 1st got the update, but it doesnt work. I already had Google Assistant before Pie so It should work, but it refuses to. The edges of the screen light up when I use that gesture for less than half a sec, then it fails and nothing happens. And I dont wanna have to download the Google Assistant app and waste space on my phone if my phone already has it as standard somewhere
This update is greeeat really. Its muuuch more simple... specially on the camera modes... there was almost 10 modes ahah now there is just 3 and i think they do the same. Dark mode is the best thing ever. There is no more Game Modes or Movies modes but those modes didnt do much really. Nice one Samsung ! Very nice to be ur client😁
I switched from an iPhone 7 Plus to s9 plus and I hated it and wanted to switch back to an iPhone asap but, as soon as I updated my phone to one UI, my experience changed and decided I’ll hold on to my phone.
After this update on my S8+ it feels like my phone is brand new now. Like I just got a next generation Samsung rocking stock android. Multi-tasking and switching between apps is easier and a lot snappier than before. It also overall just feels much more smooth, keeping in mind that it was already impressively smooth, even out of the box 2 years ago.
The best informative video regarding one UI. All others are just barking here and there but not anything on the point while this guy explained everything in an awesome way.
For the S9's you can use Google Assistant. It just uses the 3D touch so you have to press harder on the button and if you don't swipe up and hold. One hard press if you don't hold will go to the home screen without swiping as well. Also what is even better with the darkmode is that you can automatically switch it on or off depending on time just like the blue filter. One thing I am missing is that I can't seem to find or activate "one handed mode" anymore which is a bummer. Some apps are still very clunky so having that feature was great on large screens.
One UI is simply brilliant. The Night Mode has come in handy, the gestures is a superb addition and now you can make use of the whole display, the rounded corners sync with the phones curved edges which is satisfying to see, the phone seems to be even smoother than before (Multi tasking is a breeze). As for the battery, I still don't know if it has actually improved or gotten worse. I reckon it's the same although I never use optimized or high performance mode as it eats up the battery quickly. Overall I'm happy.
You CAN use Google assistant with the new gestures. Just swipe up on the middle bar and hold it just like you would with the traditional home button and the Google assistant will appear.
By any chance, do know how to switch from apps to apps with the BACK button? I have done it like 10 times by mistake, but when I wanted to do it on purpose, I can't :/
@@valentinavillanueva1480 Yeah, its not with the back button. Its with the Recent Apps Button (The button on the opposite side of the back button). You simply double tap it and it switches between the last two recent apps you were using. Enjoy :)
@@paulwehbe5440 thank you for the advice but nope, It doesn't work on mine because I don't even have the gesture hints on, just the full screen gestures :(
@@valentinavillanueva1480 Oh yeah it doesnt work when in full screen gestures. I hope this helps :)

Thanks for your help
@@MafiosoDon21 definitely don't update. It's my biggest regret since getting the note 9. Pie is just so buggy and everything in general seems to take longer, especially when you're cleaning the storage or ram. Also, if you wanna change the res. To add a picture to a contact, simply select the contact en click on edit, there you get the option to change the picture of the contact. To turn off Bixby, go to your homescreen and tap and hold on a blank space on your homescreen. This will bring you to all your screens on your phone. Now scroll to the left where you find the Bixby screen and at the top of that screen you will find the option to turn of the Bixby screen. If anything is still unclear, let me know. Good luck!

Nova 98 I’m aware that it’s supposed to replace SMS with something that has working group chats, notifications for when someone reads your message, etc. All I’m saying is that Google is basically trying to push a new protocol introduced over five years ago to carriers so that they can compete with iMessage and FB Messenger. tl;dr RCS messaging (or Google’s Chat protocol) is basically just a ghetto version of both the aforementioned messaging services.
One of the things I love about iphone is the fact that it uses its own video app, for example when you maximize any video that you are watching online it switches to its own video app. It's super clean, do you know if this is also included in Samsung?
Blame your carrier. I've been on the Offical version since the 24th January. I'm unlocked with the exynos version tho. Lots of people blame Samsung when it's actually the carrier to blame as they add bits and pieces after the updates go out. I'm not saying Samsung is faultless either.
there is still the pressure sensitive home button to activate google assistant. Also the gesture home button also works, you just have to hold it in place for a second after swiping.
You can still use Google Assistant with the gestures! Just slide the home button gesture but keep your finger to the screen and you'll feel a vibrate and Google Assistant will pop up. Kind of like what Apple did with the iPhone 10s recent app menu.

Well hey, that’s a pretty significant step up. Samsung is really starting to take things seriously and at least try heading in the direction of more developed devices, which I wasn’t sure I’d ever see but isn’t a bad thing at all. I’m actually shocked some of the features mentioned are new... some of those have been in iOS and/or stock Android for YEARS. I do find it funny though how software is starting to catch up to competitors as leaks show their hardware (which was the best looking for the S8 and S9 - as in “not hideous like the S7 and older, but actually better-looking than most other manufacturers right now” - especially the front of devices) takes a massive hole punch out of their design success. (Yeah, pun intended)
@@deblado3251 can confirm. Im now running ResurrectionRemix on Samsung J5 and the lag is over. Its a os based on stock android but with more customization and smooth
I updated my Note 9 (Exynos version, Russian region) to One UI about almost two weeks ago. Personal opinion... Not so good. But not so bad either. I didn't like gestures - basically you just swipe at the same place of the screen instead of pressing a button. It doesn't work good with the back button/gesture - especially when you use this button a lot. Still no way to remap the Bixby button so I had to turn off Bixby Home and use a Button Mapper app. And Samsung are holding their Google's night sight competitor for Galaxy S10. Even Chinese manufacturers already implemented this feature. Rounded corners are looking fine on Galaxy S9 - but they look terrible on Note 9 (screen of a Note 9 has smaller corners). Good thing is that UI is easier to use with one hand now - that's definitely a plus. I do like new look of opened apps screen and swiping on the navigation bar to open previous apps. But the best thing is - that's probably the fastest update to newest version of the OS that has been released by Samsung. They usually take some time to update their phones. And IMO the faster they release new versions and the closer they are to stock Android - the better. P.S. I almost forgot - Samsung basically broke their own Themes app. With time it should work better though.

You can delete navigation bar completely it's great. I bought s9 2 weeks ago and I use all of that functions from day one
I still prefer Android 8.0 Oreo look and i want the dot that use to be on the bottom left. It use to remove all the buttons
i agree , i dont really like the gestures so i sould liked to have that option . I am preaty sure they are gona bring it back
Yeah I prefer oreo too, I wish i never updated my software
Same bro
@@one0onelion248 so you suggest not to update it? Because I haven't got the pie 9 update for my S8 yet.
@@MafiosoDon21 definitely don't update. It's my biggest regret since getting the note 9. Pie is just so buggy and everything in general seems to take longer, especially when you're cleaning the storage or ram. Also, if you wanna change the res. To a higher form which includes high performance for gaming, you cant do it through your drop down menu, you have to go through battery. It has become such a hassle. I'm genuinely thinking of reversing it back but I'm scared the phone might mess up
I really appreciate how Samsung's new Night Mode works in conjunction with the Nova Launcher Night Mode, now the setup on my Galaxy S9 feels much more streamlined.
OH MY GOD!!!! VOLUME STANDARDIZATION!
Awesome video! I had all of my doubts cleared right here
It's been 5 years I use MIUI, because I love and need the dual apps, second space, and on/off schedule.
Could this One UI make me ditch MIUI?
If Xiaomi releases an official dark theme, then you will stay.
You can't beat Mi prices after all.
I'm a xiaomi user previously (Mi3,Mi4,Mi6,Mi8) , but not anymore , the phone feels cheap , I can't seems to enjoyed while using it . switch back to samsung after so long . I feels way better with it .
I'm on TMobile, the texting feature works just fine. Exactly as you used it.
Everyone who has a s9 with the new update, how do u add a pic to a contact? And how do you remove/turn off the bixby button?
To add a picture to a contact, simply select the contact en click on edit, there you get the option to change the picture of the contact.
To turn off Bixby, go to your homescreen and tap and hold on a blank space on your homescreen. This will bring you to all your screens on your phone. Now scroll to the left where you find the Bixby screen and at the top of that screen you will find the option to turn of the Bixby screen.
If anything is still unclear, let me know. Good luck!
@@Tingelmans yee but can't you disable the bixby button as well? Cause before this new update I had turned it off so it did not do anything when I pressed the button..? Also, I did go into the contacts application and go to a contact and press edit. I can't seem to add a picture.. might just be a bug due to the new release
@@kokopoppan I don't know if you can disable the button itself. I haven't found it yet . Maybe Google will help you out.
And now for the contacts. When you are in the edit screen of a contact, there should be some sort of a picture in the shape of a circle with a camera in it. It should be located at the top of your screen. When you tap on that, it should give you the option to change the picture of a contact.
@@Tingelmans yeah, I do that but I don't get the option to change the picture of the contact. Most likely a bug.. Thank you very much for the help! Anything I might be able to help you with?
@@kokopoppan oh, that's a pity! Hopefully they bring out a update soon, so the problem will be solved.
And, no, no struggles on my S9+. But thanks a lot for your offer :). Have a good day!
You can still use Google assistant with the gestures.. gesture to the home button and just swipe it up for a longer time and it'll work
1:23 The S3 Neo had a system wide dark theme.
one handed mode very nice. ive not liked samsung in the past and thought they had crap software but now they seem to be trying a amazing version
Anyone else excited for RCS messaging for all Android phones?
Taylor whats dat
Finally, but they could've came up with a better name
@@Sataka23clips Ghetto iMessage
I want the update already on my S9. I'm still on the November security patch
Blame your carrier. I've been on the Offical version since the 24th January. I'm unlocked with the exynos version tho. Lots of people blame Samsung when it's actually the carrier to blame as they add bits and pieces after the updates go out. I'm not saying Samsung is faultless either.
When I get a job I'll buy an unlocked phone instead of one on a carrier
Don't do it there is bugs and no pro camera video mode
I'm on an unlocked phone and still dont have the update
Same still don't have the update on my Unlocked s9 don't understand at all.
there is still the pressure sensitive home button to activate google assistant. Also the gesture home button also works, you just have to hold it in place for a second after swiping.
Will it be laggy if I update s8plus to one ui? (help!)
Same here
You can still use Google Assistant with the gestures! Just slide the home button gesture but keep your finger to the screen and you'll feel a vibrate and Google Assistant will pop up. Kind of like what Apple did with the iPhone 10s recent app menu.
He is quite handsome.... I'll sub lol
real the thirst is real
And youre fat
He needs to wash his greasy face
im currently been using samsung s8 with one ui.. samsung phones are amazing.😃
Samsung- one ultra instinct.
Bro that bixby home lag was annoying for me too. Nice that you mentioned it.
Is it only me or he pronounced theme,The Me 1:08
Not bad, I learned a lot more about my Note 9's One UI by watching this video than discovering it myself
That old theme was better than this new one😕
Have to admit, Samsung has stepped it up huge. Very thoughtful and cohesive package. Still sticking with my LG V30 as long as I can though...
Anyone think this guy looks like FP from Riverdale?
May i ask What is the advantage of Game Mode ?
And i also heard that Samsung S8 Exynos can now play PUBG on HDR setting after updating to One UI , is it true?
If Yes then i'd Buy this device , help meh please
I Miss The Old Icons😭
fast, clean and really nice review !
There so many disappointments with One UI too though. When is anyone gonna make a video about that? People are being fooled 🙄
True
Like?
I'm interested to know your frustrations about this update. I've updated mine and it's working perfectly.
"THERE ARE SO MANY DISAPPOINTMENTS"
> ** L I S T S N O N E O F T H E M **
apart from the less intuitive multitasking there is nothing i can complain about
animations are smoother
performance got a little bit better
has a lot of new features
All about Samsung One UI features are really great.
2:10
Is it iMessage on Samsung? 😂😂
Great Stuff but what about samsung os software update will it slow my device every time new update released?
I hate the horizontal task menu so much.
Yeahh its still weird to me
@kyyuhl I need convenience not forced onehand use
ArnoldsK what about vertical makes it any more convenient though? It's purely preferential
How do you split screen or multi task in that horizontal mode?
I'm getting used to it
Credits to this awesome presenter! Clear and precise review, great editing as well!
2:10 Omg finally!
Thanks for the video, can you tell me the battery life before and after the update, thanks
Hard to believe this UI was created by company that made shithole TouchWiz lol
I just got it today love it. Though if you use gesture navigation I hate how on keyboard and Twitter bottom part is blank which use to where your nav buttons were
Everyone don't update from android 8 to 9 , battery problems bugs and there is no video pro mode !
I learned that the hard way lol Google assistant doesnt work on my phone either and all my themes arent supported. Hard Press is also buggy and doesnt work half the time and my brightness doesnt go up all the way anymore. Theres really too much to list here
So even on my s8? So you suggest I keep it on oreo ?
@@MafiosoDon21 u can try it, not all phones have the same issues and some people dont even experience any. Just know theres a low chance that not everything will work properly. And there still hasn't been a system update for it to fix the issues some people experience. Dont know why its taking them so long to give us an update. When I had an iPhone and something didnt work they patched it the next day
@@hotwaffles5897 oh I see, I guess I keep it in Oreo until Samsung update it property well for all s8 n up model. It may take a while lol will see how it roll
You can remove the three bars down the bottom for gestures for a super clean look. In the navigation menu when you activate gestures a new option at the very bottom appears to hide the bars
Great new UI

@@jogergerald5215 J series lags after a year..
@@deblado3251 what no it doesn't. I'm using a j7 prime since 2016 and it doesn't lag at all. You just need to take care of your phone that's all.
