- I haven't uploaded anything in a while, I feel like I'm a bit rusty with the recording stuff. But I'm back with some Final Fantasy music! This one is based on the vocal cover done by Kate Covington, a.k.a katethegreat19, a.k.a. Erutan. You should check out her cover! Anyways, hope you like it. Enjoy! :D

Thank you! I try to use different techniques at different parts in the song to keep it sounding fresh and dynamic and not so repetitive. In this case the contrast between the soft and strong sounds was one of them. I'm glad you like it!

I listened to Erutan's arrangement of roses of may just now while looking for some good music to get me to sleep (common occurance lmao) and I was blown away when I realized the opening matched this one and I looked in the description and, yup! Knew it! I have never heard of Erutan to this point but WOW. She's done an amazing job with her version of Rose of May! I listened to You're Not Alone and got chills for a minute straight, no lie. Incredible covers. I liked your guitar cover but I wondered where the introductory bit came from and now I know!
Thank you! I've drawn a lot of inspiration from Erutan in my ff9 covers. I also love her version of "You're Not Alone", and I'm actually working on my own cover it, again drawing a lot of inspiration from her :)

@@AntonBetita I know you don't really need me to tell you this. You already know it but wow, making a guitar arrangement of her cover of you're not alone is a TOUGH task. She uses a TON of voices in that song. If you're able to faithfully reproduce that then my hat's off to you, dude. I'm excited to hear what you've got!

This is amazing! I just picked up guitar again and decided to try to learn Rose of May. If you don't mind asking, did you learn the song by listening to Erutan's cover, or you found a tab for inspiration? The ones I found online are nowhere like yours.
Thank you! I actually learned it from reading a piano sheet music (mostly just reading the chords) and transposing it to a key that I was more comfortable playing. Then I tried to apply different elements to it that were inspired by Erutan's cover, and that's how I came up with this specific arrangement 😁

I haven't tried but I'm pretty sure you would be able to play it on a nylon string guitar. I've seen many other fingerstyle guitarists that specialize in nylon-stringed classical guitars! 👍

@@AntonBetita thanks, I really enjoy this arrangement. I posted the tab on UltimateGuitar and it was approved today. My ear isn't the best so I had some issues figuring out if there was an extra note or not but I think it still sounds close.

probably would help to use a capo, but the real star of the show is the hybrid picking skills you got, that's something I don't have i can only finger pick or use a guitar pick.

Do you finger pick with your pinky? It's non-existant outside of a rest point for me 0-0
I rarely use my pinky for fingerpicking. The only instance I can think of doing it is when I'm doing like a "reverse rasgueado" type of thing where i pluck the same set of strings multiple times, using one finger at a time but in quick succession (like I do in some parts of the Jesters of the Moon cover).
Most of the time I also just use it as a rest or anchor point, but I have a weird way of anchoring where I put both my pinky and ring finger on the 1st string until i actually need to pick that string - at which point I'll be relying on my forearm resting on the edge of the guitar's body as my anchor point lol
