I'm not sure if others have mentioned this previously, but I always interpreted the 3 "main" characters as "the player." They represent the 3 factions of the game, and they're supposed to be token characters that the players can live through. These cinematics are premium gas haha
That's exactly it, they are stand-ins for the player characters, hence why they never get any other name than "Nord Hero" or "Altmer Hero" in these.

Yeah, I still remember how big a deal it was when the elven hero showed up in the Summerset trailer. It’s really a smart idea to continually use them as player stand ins.

@@muldoone6920 as someone who has played the entire game without missing any quests and also works on a translation of ESO to Brazilian Portuguese, I believe I’m qualified to say: no, these characters do not exist in the game.
13:10 because they don't think it's worth their time to continue fighing with the portal closed and they are pretty much guaranteed to die in this collapse. These creatures are basically demons and will "respawn" back in their own world if they die in the mortal one, that's why they are so chill about that

the enemies in the first few trailers are daedra, immortal demons when they set foot in the material realm. only their physical form can be destroyed and they will reform in their own dimension, the big bady (Molag bal) is one that could be considered the demon god of domination, the patron of undead and creator of vampires. a being that at that point wants to take over the entirety of the world and meld his dimension with the world. the character you play being a soulless husk at the beginning of the game because your soul is still stuck with Molag bal, represented also by the archer in later trailers turning back from a husk into a human. having reclaimed his soul and showing off cool new class that could be played at that point being the necromancer.
the premise of the game started with a 3 way factional war. the female is an high elf that is part of the aldmeri dominion (aldmer being the word for high elf in this world) consisting of wood elves and cat people called khajiit. the viking man was a nord and part of the ebonheart pact consisting of nords, dark elves and lizard people named argonians (which in lore are mortal enemies of each other. dark elves worshipping daedra, enslaving argonians. While nords are known to conquer and war with different races, with an almost genetic hatred for elves which at the start of their history commited a genocide against them.). the archer is a breton from the daggerfall covenant and consists of the bretons (race of humans with elf ancestry) redguards and orcs (orcs in this universe are elves corrupted by a daedra similar to Molag bal, corrupted only in the physical sense though and racially traumatized by that event.).
lastly there are the imperials (styled as fantasy Romans) and the imperial city those 3 factions are trying to take, the empire being the center of Molag bal's invasion of the world. the playing being able to choose a faction playing as imperials (which sadly is behind a paywall).
the brass things are actually elvish tech, made by a race known as the deep elves or Dwemer, wrongly called dwarfs through a legend that giants called them that. morrowind being the homeland of the dark elves (dunmer), a vulcanic landscape with alien fauna once also inhabited by the Dwemer before they turned themselves non existant (quite literally vanished except for 1) as a race.(Molag bal)
So the cat people are known as Khajiit and the really fascinating thing about them is how their birth shape is dictated by the two moons phases. Some Khajiit are born looking like house cats, others as giant saber tooth tigers yet others look like elves but the most well known shape is what you see in these trailers. And they're still all Khajiiti. My favorite playable race in the Elder Scrolls, easily.
8:04 - That sky ring is a gate to the planes of oblivion (Daedric Prince Homeworlds, and afterlife).
15:15 - He's possessed by a curse of undeath to serve.
35:50 - He's alive because, while he's freed from his enslavement, he's still cursed/blessed with undeath/necromantic powers.
39:55 - Dragon's, like most species, aren't united with one goal or purpose. They're fighting because their beliefs are different.
41:50 - That lady is Lyris Titanborn, a Nord Warrior, who is apparently a descendent of giants.
52:10 - That is Mehrunes Dagon, one of the daedric princes.
1:03:45 - That is Hermaeus Mora, one of the daedric princes.
So you know a little bit about the game then? love it.
The three heroes represent a player. And in some of the cinematics they represent new classes - the one with the guy and bear represents warden and with dragons, they represent a necromancer.
Lore/explanation dump, for anyone who care; teaser voice over trailer is exposition from the "Prophet", a guide to the player character in the main story of the game. The siege part in the first animated trailers show the ongoing Three Banners War, as the central Empire has fallen (the emperor lost and the rest corrupted from within by Mannimarco, the King of Worms, which would be the white-haired elven Necromancer), with various races each teaming up into three main factions that all vie for control of the former Empire while warring with each other, this was the original game as released, which was supposed to be very faction and PVP focused, but they moved away from that later.
I honestly have no idea how the Breton Hero (the archer) ends up becoming an undead and then somehow surviving, nor how the Nord Hero gets away from Mannimarco (though presumably he could have as Mannimarco gets defeated during the main quest story). Once the Morrowind expansion came along they had more or less abandoned the whole antagonistic Three Banners War story and the PVP element (an active complaint among the player base to this day, how much the open PVP element has died out), hence why later trailers show a lot more team ups.
The automatons are indeed Dwarven constructs, or rater Dwemer, a long-lost race who's only remains are their abandoned cities filled with those automatons. The main purpose of that trailer was to display the new druid-like Frost Magic and Animal Companion based Warden class however, as well as to introduce the Morrowind expansion, bringing players back to the setting of the 2002 game Morrowind.
The Altmer Hero segments introduce the Summerset expansion, that introduced the homeland of the High Elves, as well as bringing back the main spymaster of the Queen, Razum-Dar, which would be the orange Khajiit in that segment. Side note, the queen (not featured in any of these) was voiced by Kate Beckinsdale of Underworld fame for the main game, John Cleese also played an insane undead guy that had an important role in the main story, and there were a number of other well known actors like these, the Prophet being voiced by the late, great Michael Gambon, Dumbledore from the Harry Potter movies.
The Dragon segments features primarily Abnur Tharn (the sorcerer with the white beard that do the Noble Sacrifice thing), not sure who the Khajiit is, but it sets up the Elseweyr expansion (the homeland of the Khajiit cat folk). Abnur is one of the Five Companions, a group that included the Prophet giving the voice over at the start, and an important part of the original main story. Each of the surviving Five Companions also end up featuring as guides and questgivers in a lot of later DLC stuff. This expansion also saw the Necromancer class get introduced, which is why they brought back the Breton Hero somehow having survived and turned his undead-abominationness into class somehow and using it for good.
The vampire and werewolf segments was a part of the Dark Heart of Skyrim storyline, bringing back areas from the Skyrim game with a vampire theme going on. The "big bitch" is Lyris Titanborn, a half-giant that was another member of the Five Companions (and the first of the five that the player character would meet in the game).
The demon and hell segments was part of the Gates of Oblivion DLC storyline, where the main villain was Mehrunes Dagon (also the main true antagonist of the 2006 Oblivion game), which would be the four-armed giant roaming around, who is basically the God of Destruction and Rebellion. The red-eyed girl that pretended to be one of the cultists is the demon Lyranth, someone who should have been a villain but kept showing up both in the original main story of the game and in several subsequent side stuff as an ally. It didn't matter too much that they left Lyranth behind in "hell" since 1) it's her home actually, and 2) she can get out any time she wants.
The trailers with the knights and assassins was the High Isle expansion, which went for much more of like a conspiracy storyline, hence why it was far less "fantastical" looking than the others.
The trailers with the eyes and the girl fighting demons was the Necrom expansion, which again introduced a new class that was displayed with the girl's abilities, with the soul reaver Elder God looking guy was Hermaeus Mora, another of those demon gods, but one that can be an ally more often, unlike Dagon from Oblviion storyline.
The final trailer was the most recently released DLC, taking us back to a part of an area from the Oblivion game.

It's my favorite Daedric Prince, with Sanguine (Debauchery) and Nocturnal (Luck in Dark Places) tying for second. The weird camera effects reflect how a supreme being of knowledge sees time and reality and the sort of mad insight he can grant his followers.

ESO player for ten years here, while the game’s art style is indeed very different from the cinematics it is incredibly beautiful in it’s own right. To answer your question of the camera perspective you can switch between first and over the shoulder third person (I only really do the latter). The base game alone has tons of content, and the DLCs and Chapters are stellar with lots of content as well.
The motif you called out is indeed the main theme of the TES series, which both Skyrim and Oblivion are both part of. I absolutely recommend ESO to play, along with the rest of the series.

Elder scrolls online is actually a really good game and the graphics are way more detailed than wow. Now I only do singleplayer games but ESO story is so good I play it and you can beat the game solo, just a wee bit harder.

The Elder Scrolls Online and Final Fantasy XIV have the highest fidelity from cinematics to gameplay of any games I've played. Obviously you can't get full cutscene quality in gameplay for an MMO for the average PC right now, but ESO keeps the vibe and each expansion cinematic sets up the feeling for the gameplay to come.

Little bit of exposition. Elder Scrolls takes place on the continent of Tamriel, on the fictional planet of Nirn. The continent is divided into nine provinces, each inhabited by a different race. To say the land is peaceful, would be the same as saying that Ted Bundy was harmless.
There are a total of ten playable races; Altmer (High Elves), Bosmer (Wood Elves), Dunmer (Dark Elves), Khajiit (Feline race), Argonians (Lizard race), Nords (Big vikings), Bretons (small human/elf hybrids), Redguards (Dark-skinned humans), Imperials (Roman humans) and Orsimer (Orcs).
The Elder Scrolls Online, or ESO for short, is set during the second era during a period of time known as the Interregnum, where the Imperial province of Cyrodiil, in the center of the continent and home of the Imperial race, is without an emporer and the other nine races have joined into three alliances who are vying for control of the Throne. The Aldmeri Dominion is made up of the High Elves, Wood Elves and Khajiit, and they believe Elves should rule as humans are a young and immature race. The Daggerfall Covernent consists of the Bretons, Redguards and Orcs, and they wanna reinstate the original empire. And finally, the Ebonheart Pact sees the union of the Nords, Dark Elves and Argonians, and they wanna maintain their independance and are only fighting to prevent the other two alliances from taking the throne.
I have been playing the game for 10 years, and I think it's better then WoW, which I have been playing for 20. It is definitely worth checking out.
The big issue with the ESO trailers is aside from the first few they're not really made for non ESO players or Elder Scrolls fans more generally, the game is self sufficient on it's player base more or less so these are made more for them than for new people. They're full of references to very intricate and obscure lore and events that you'd only know about if you followed the lore already and don't make sense if you don't catch the references. As an MMO it's actually one of the better ones still standing but these trailers aren't going to do much for you unless you're already into it.

25:18 Seems like either the elf woman or the necromancer has killed the nord warrior. The warrior was apparently sent to the realm of Molag Bal (the god that the evil necromancer guy worships) so it's fair to assume that the necromancer killed him and sacrificed his soul to his god.

Regarding gameplay - you can play it in third or first person (I play it in first and switch to third for combat to see stuff easily), all game is voice acted (every single NPC), the dialogue is constructed like in an RPG with multiple dialogue options, persuasion, even some choices. It's literally "what if Skyrim had good story, dialogue and voice acting, but required internet to play" lol. It plays like an action RPG with a few MMO-ish quirks. You can play the whole story solo and it's a blast. I play ESO like it's "Skyrim online but actually good" (and I say it as someone who played the shit out of Skyrim hahah) and I'm having lots of fun. I definitely recommend it as a single player action RPG with some people running in the background and talking in the zone chat :D Literally a TES game but with actually good writing and voice acting.

Each of the three/four represent the players in their various classes/roles. Other characters are named NPCs (Heros/villians) throughout the game.

i think this man would enjoy a lore video on the history and gods and important characters, hell a dive into the in game books in the games from old shcool morrowwind up to skyrim, great stories.
ESO has been going for years now, so no more beta- but it's a decent MMORPG. You should give it a go. You can even choose be a vampire or a werewolf. These trailers are all announcing the next expansion, and they are chock full of lore for the game. The eyeball guy, for example, is Hermaeus Mora, the Daedric Prince of Knowledge. You really do get much more out of these if you know the lore, but they're also good for sucking you in and making you wan to play. The art style in-game is not photo-real like the trailers but it's not cartoony like WoW.
Don‘t know how familiar you are with the universe of The Elder Scrolls, but its enormous. Basically there are Aedra and Daedra. The Aedra are the Gods, the Daedra are the opposite, but not in a Christian kind of way (so they are not like a demons). There are 16 Daedric Princes, and countless daedric creatures. However there are only eight Aedra (later nine). The Aedra don’t have a physical form, but the Daedra have. But there is a throne and a special amulet in the Imperial City that you saw in the beginning, that lite the dragon fires. As long as they are lit, the Daedric Princes can’t enter Nirn, the „real world“. Except, most Daedra have their own realm of oblivion and only can whisper to cultists via altars or artefacts. During the second era, there is no emperor and three allies in Tamriel fight for the throne (against a fourths, unplayable fraction, the Impirials). But Molag Bal, the Daedric Prince of Pain and Slavery, uses the chance to fuse his realm of oblivion with Nirn (that’s the Anchors you see). The cinematic trailers kinda always added up with the players progress in game and the new content. That’s why you couldn’t see what happened to the three heroes after the long trailer. The players had to find out.
The later cinematic trailers were teasing new game DLCs. They came with a new country (or part of it) in Tamriel (the continent where most of TES Lore happens). All in all a very awesome universe and very awesome game in general!
I love this game!!! Even named my gamer tag after it! 20k hours in 10 years & I’m still not bored playing everyday ❤️🔥 unfortunately the graphics are 1/10th of these trailers but the style is all the same. Definitely get it a try but know that the combat is pretty basic in the beginning but end game is all skill & knowledge

These are making me want to play the game again haha. You're right in that the game plays nothing like this but something I will say is it delivers on the atmosphere and story. I had a blast going through each of the factions story lines.

1. Big circle in a sky with chains is an Dark Ankor. Molag Bal- Daedric Prince of Dominations drops them all over Tamriel to literally pull the land into his kingdom in Oblivion.
2. Big meaty thing from the Dark Ankor is called Flesh Colossus. They are… things… weapons of war made by Daedra and necromancers. Nasty things.
3. So those 3 Heros start as mortal enemies. They are representing 3 different alliances. The big guy (Nord) is for Pact Ebonheart (the best fraction!). Mage lady is for Almderi Dominion (racist who believe that Elves are better at ruling the world). Archer as you call him is for Daggerfal Covenant (boring hypocrites). They hate each other. High Isle trailer is the first situation when they joined forces against common enemy.
4. Yeah. Those robots in a ruins are Dwarven. In this universe Dwemers (Dwarves) were super high-tech civilization. Like nobody could catch up to them when it came to technology. Yet one day they kinda messed up with things they shouldn’t and they kinda vanished, leaving their robots and stuff behind.
5. Those cat-people are called the Khajiit. One of the best and coolest races in Tamriel (and the only thing I love in Dominion). They are those brave and fearsome yet sneaky and clever people, who are both great warriors and merchants, but also thieves and drug dealers.
6. This dragon fighting on a team side is called Nahfahlaar. He is less interested into power or domination and more into living with mortals. But unlike Paarturnax from Skyrim, he is more like “dragon-mercenary”.
7. The big red guy is called Mehrunes Dagon. He is an Daedric Prince of Destruction, revolution and other stuff like that.
8. The eye with tentacles is Hermaeus Mora. Daedric Prince for forbidden knowledge. In my opinion he is this kind of guy who things that can and is allowed to do everything.

53:22 the big angry four armed bastard is actualy one of the evil gods of the elder scrolls series, its a miracle any of them even escaped him in his own realm, each gods realm is a reflection of who they are, dagath ur here is the god of destruction and his relm is a barren firey hell, also being one of the gods or deadric princes he's imortal nearly indestructable. and like every deadric lord all powerful within his own realm... he's not my favorite deadric god though, i like shaogorath the mad god. 1:03:46 here we see another of the gods known as hermeous mora probably butchered that name but fu ck him his a bastard, he hoard knowledge all to him self, his realm is an infinite library.
I'd just like to point out that the art style has been a little compromised in the compilation video you react to here, since the creator put the original trailers through an AI Upscaler (Topaz Video AI according the the creator of the compilation in the comments) that has taken away a lot of small details in the textures of everything. It has made it a little cartoony for some reason. So the trailers do look quite a bit better than this, even though they might've been lower resolution before. No complaints to you of course, I just figured I'd give out the info.
Edit: Just look at the Summerset Isle trailer section where her face is in focus ( 29:45 ) side by side with the original. All her skin details are gone in the AI upscaled one.
Question: I haven't been keeping up with the story, so I may as well ask. Why is the Mythic Dawn and Mehrunes Dagon here when the story takes place during Molag Bal's invasion? I thought the Oblivion Crisis wasn't scheduled to happen for some time.
It was a precursor attempt at invasion, with lessons learnt for the subsequent (more successful) attempt. It's a continuation of the story from before ESO starts, with some long term planning in place. Molag Bal might have been stopped in the base game, but the other Princes aren't going to miss an opportunity while the imperial throne lies empty.

If you’ve played Skyrim, it’s basically an online version of Skyrim. So an MMO.
That sounds good! I really enjoyed Skyrim but I dropped off it because it wanted me to kill the dragon on the top of the mountain if I remember correctly, I didn't want to and didn't go back.
ESO is actually really good it has some flaws but I do still highly recommend it

ESO really made me like the khajiit. In the older titles they always were a bit odd to me. Just these weird cat people but they were never really involved with anything so you didn't learn anything about them and they didn't have any appealing characters either. But in ESO you get to go to their homeland Elsweyr in an expansion and learn a lot about them. But my man Razum-dar did most of the heavy lifting for getting me to like khajiit.
"Why arent they making a movie on this" describes a lot of cinematic trailers. I guess because they usually screw up a live action version or a cgi movie would be too expensive or at least they arent good at monetizing it. For a game that was originally pay to play before becoming free to play with pay to play expansions, as well as a cash shop, the marketing is worth every penny. Its all about the margins
I heard this makes millions a month so absolutely, worth every penny 💪🏻🔥

They put lots of money into advertisement, not so much into the game. Bugs, lags, lootboxes, bad balancing, p2w, bad pvp, grind, boring and repetitive content/stories, copying features (in the worst way possible) from other games etc. have been going on for years and make ESO one of the worst big MMOs out there. It clearly shows that ads say absolutely nothing about the product... Publishers showing highly polished trailers instead of ingame-footage usually do it for a reason ;)
The trailers itself have nice 3D modeling, lightning and animations. The story-telling isn´t good though. Missing dialogue makes it all boring. It is also kinda silly since it clashes more or less directly with the core of the game design (3 alliances fighting each other)

I gave lots of examples why it is a bad game, u just said "I disagree, I played it a lot" - but that doesn´t make a game good. There is a reason why the ESO servers were almost empty one year after release ;)

Server working great, hardly zero lag, loot boxes are cosmetic only.... your examples of it being a bad game are all FAKE hot takes you read somewhere else. You haven't even played the game more than 2 hours, guaranteed! 20k players minimum log into ESO everyday, game is far from dying.

@@kaizammit it's fun if you are into mmorpg kinda games. The game definitely dosen't look like the trailers. Its alot more cartoony in the art style. Many players go in expecting skyrim, but are disappointed that it isn't. Nonetheless if you aren't too turned off by the gamplay then I recommend giving it a try.
