Jayce was looking for a new car but he wanted something interesting. When touring a collection, he noticed a dusty non-running DeLorean in the corner of a workshop. This began the journey of negotiation, restoration, and enjoyment in owning one of the strangest cars ever built.
Ed recently tried the Armor Shield IX DIY Kit on his Porsche and was impressed.
He also very shrewdly negotiated $25 off. Enter code CANNONBALL for $25 off your complete Ceramic Coating Kit. Visit avl.kg/vinwiki...

There is something about a car that you can clean/polish with a Scotchbrite pad. Great Story!
J Nelson Geez why don’t you give him a handy also
J Nelson Nah
Thanks Rabbit! There's been a couple times where I've gotten scratches in the body. All you have to do is step through several grits of sandpaper up to a Scotchbrite, and it's like it never even happened.
You can polish any car with a scotchbrite pad. Just may not have the desired results. 😂
I like this guy. Bring him back for more stories.
Yeah this was a good video. But dude think about it. He's still in school, I think that's about the only story hes got.
@@thewhitedeath586 I've got plenty more stories. :)
Ramblin_DMC. Keep it up and keep your story going ... I started with a 1941 dodge d19s as my first car @ 15 and moved onto BMW spent forever trying to find the next car and gave up after many YEARS and then one day found an e36 BMW for sale at roadside and fell in love had to have it
Yes please
Ramblin_DMC Hey Jayce, great story! I’m in Loganville, I’m almost 100% certain I used to see your ford in my neighborhood years ago
We love DeLoreans! Thanks for watching and have a great day.
This is perhaps the most sincere, honest, and coherent Vinwiki yet. This guy is obviously the real deal and not full of the usual Vinwiki excessive, and often undeserved, B.S. bravado. Bring this guy back and feature more like him. The cocky frat boy, wealthy exotic car/business owner, and my sh*t doesn’t stink, side of Vinwiki gets old fast.
The story was going well until he said he went to the gas station to put gas in the car. Doesn't he know that Deloreans need plutonium to run properly?
1.21 gigawatts?!?
Uhhh unless he's driving the Gen2 with the Mr.Fusion Home Energy Reactor!
Gas? How can a liquid be called gas? It's petrol & diesel hahaha
Gas is short for gasoline, noob.
Man that joke is fluxed up.
"My car cost less than. Your watch". Please make that a tee shirt!!!!
"I was looking for a car that was a little bit sportier" - Buys a DeLorean :-)
It'll be even sportier once I turbo it. :)
It'll be sporty once the engine/trans blows and he'll have a reason to LS swap it.
Well it looks sporty.
"It's all about the looks"
@Dirtyd23 The top speed is actually 135.
so the engine didn't run right the transmission didn't shift right in needed a whole suspension you realize you bought a showroom fresh DeLorean
I’ve seen a lot of Vinwiki stories, but this one literally resonates with my heart. I love this! And I’m glad you feel that way about this car.
20 Years Not Driven? Price Cheaper Than Hoovies? What A Gem!
This is my kind of DeLorean!
Ed Bolian Take it easy Eugene
We need more live vlogs Ed!!!!!!
No stay with your S65 AMG
I saw you driving it on techs campus not even 30 minutes ago
asa1896 that’s awesome
Good shit, kid. Keep it forever.
There is one in the same, forlorn condition in a garage across the street from my Army Ranger buddy in Manitowoc,WI that the guy just sits on and won't fix because his wife won't let him. I think she controls the $$? (poor sap)
We're hoping we can pry it out of his grasp to restore ourselves. Only problem is that my buddy is aka 'NightStalker Customs' ,is pretty big in the HotWheels community, and he wants to 'Back to the Future' it. 😒
GoofyLeo3 just tell him you’ll buy it and let him help with it or let him take it for a ride for when it’s done
That is one of the angles we wanna try since the garages face eachother across the street. If anything, he can sit in a chair and watch from his driveway.
Sounds like he needs to get rid of the wife and fix the car
is it Steven Averies?
@@nathangriffith9032 Nope! 😅
Wholesome story, good presenter. Nothing not to like
Last time I was this early, the paint shop was still on schedule.
I love the story. Keep them coming. It takes a unique person to appreciate a Delorean. You can still get parts for them, as there is a company in Texas that has tons of new old stock parts. You can still get a new Delorean built for you. Thanks.
Illinois too. Three others that I recall.
I’ve started to realize these videos are posted right before I wake up, great to hear in the morning routine
That’s a stainless steal of a deal!
🌽
Well done sir
Really nailed it getting something he'd never see himself selling.
Both in it being a DeLorean and how he got it back to the road.
Wow, I live in Monroe and I have seen this car in person at a car show. Amazing car
This guy was so lucky for his generation and coming back to the history who originally owns that car, I was so amaze when this guy talks about his beautiful past, lovin’ it the content 😍
Fellow owner here, awesome video! Good to hear the same reaction stories from another owner!
I went to field trip in fifth grade. My friend and I had recently seen Back to the Future. My friend taps me one the shoulder, and in the corner of the parking lot, in the shade, sat a DeLorean DMC-12. I’m now 15, so it was really special and they’re now really rare.
I’m a Tech student as well, my freshman roommate used to hang out with Jayce, I loved seeing a delorean for the first time.
he bought a DeLorean....
lucky bastard
Best youngish guy you had on here yet👍
I paid $12,000 for mine in college and it was near flawless. I drove it all over the country on many road trips and was my daily driver. Barnett bank (now Wells Fargo) financed it with no money down and no co-signer. The car had 17k miles on it when I got it and I put over 100k during ownership making the odo roll over its 5 digits. Parts were cheap through Delorean One and I serviced the car myself. It was a great experience except for the non-stop flux capacitor jokes.
I'm about to pick up my second Delorean in December, sold the first one, was a daily driver, price skyrocketed since so this next one is going to be a restoration/build. It is true a about people stopping you. I was always patient and polite because you never know If this was the only time that person got to see one or not, I used to be that person too, and the last thing you want is for that experience to be ruined for them. It's almost like you are representing the car. It grabbed attention away from other fully restored classics, ferraris, even Lamborghini's. They just aren't around anymore and people get so excited. If you are wanting to drive one just know it's simply part of it.
Those Georgia Tech people sure can afford some fancy rides while in school! Are you guys related to Aunt Becky? My 4.0GPA, 6 degrees ass has to look at the ground to get money for dinner! #RamenLife
A lot of people throw money around at tech, though he did say this was an incredibly cheap delorean.
Meditation grasshopper. Beeeeeeee atttttractive.
There are students here with clapped out early 00s Volvos and students with brand new 911 Turbos here at Georgia Tech. It's a bit silly
@@EdwardM104 real men drive V.
Random dude....... with an amazing story and vehicle! Good job! The DeLorean is stunning! Not sure I'd want to own one and drive around it, too much attention for my taste but I toally get why people freak out! :D
Two of my favorite people, my brother and sister-in-law, are Georgia Tech grads who are very successful in their careers. I have no doubt Jayce will achieve great things, too. 🙂 Amazing work on the car, and please come back to update us after you graduate!
Best VINwiki yet!
You forgot the flux capacitor you're never going anywhere without it.
I have one in the car!
DeLorean owners unit! Now I need to take 6 to 8 months on my DeLorean!
Love this video ... I'm an e36 m3... e39 528i ...and e53 x5 4.4i BMW guy and my cars are part of our family and we could never part with them .... all our cars have a story too and even though they are over 200000 miles (300000km ) +++ on all of them we still daily them... BMW...... broke my wallet .... break fix repeat

"It's really special to drive a project car for the first time."
Since the day before yesterday I can confirm that, having just finished 3 years of restoration on a first-gen MX5/Miata, never driving it all that time.
This dude's alright. Cool story. If he wants to come back he's got my ok. I love the DeLorians and I wish they had made it long term.
Thank god he’s got your permission with you being in charge of the channel and all. I can’t inagine how upset everyone would be if you didn’t let him return.
And FYI, it’s spelled: “DeLorean”
How do you mess up the spelling when it’s right there in the title?
@@WakeBakeTV obviously it was meant as chuckle in good fun. Dipshits like you ruin the comments section. The reason they put a comment section on here is so people can express their views and opinions. And is it really that big of a deal that I was auto-corrected on the spelling if a car brand name? Now that you got to tell me I didn't spell something correctly and give your opinion of my opinion, do you feel better, cupcake?
Easy there partner. It’s not that big of a deal, I was just poking fun at you man. No need to get that defensive. And as far as spelling goes, own up to it and move on because there’s no autocorrect that would change “DeLorean” into “DeLorian”.
You may now want to ask yourself the same question you asked me. Feel better cupcake?
Not only was I kidding around, but I don’t remember calling you names. You say you want a friendly comment section yet in the very beginning of your reply, you’ve managed to insult me by name calling (dipshit). Either practice what you preach and act friendly or don’t attempt to flip the script and act like I’m the as$hole here when you’re the one calling people names.
Im sure ed was real worried weather or not you'd like him
Great story 👍
Gotta love VINwiki. Every interview is passionate and unique. Some of which are far stranger than fiction.
This is cool, I get the same reactions with my Lotus Esprit, car I’ve wanted since I was 8 took a chance and bought it, best decision
Ive wanted an esprit for years
This is a super cool video. Keep it up!
I just had to go listen to the Back to the Future theme song xD
Such an iconic car and great story teller. Made my day.
this story is up there with rabbit's stories, thank you bro.
I'had two DeLoreans when my son was 16. I let him drove one to school, everyday. It shaped his life, as today he is in the Air Force Reserves, and is a licensed pilot at 27 years old. Now he's driving a Ferrari.
Only proper thing to do with a De Lorean is to give it the engine/drivetrain swap that it should have had all along.. So a much more performance orientated engine out of a period correct Pontiac TransAm or Chevy Corvette, or if you want to go the exotic route since the De Lorean was a failed attempt at an exotic car, can drop in a period correct Porsche or Ferrari engine. I wouldn't do a modern LS swap which is what most people do if they do drop a new engine in, I'd go something period correct instead. At the very least Supercharge/Turbocharge this vehicle, give it an engine tune, and delete it's notorious restrictive cats.
Great work mate and and a great choice of something interesting to own for the rest of your life.
my car costs less than your watch.
This was a great story. I love how these unusual cars have such a cool, niche following.
Me too.
Very serendipitous ending. Awesome stuff.
great guy, great car, great story
I bought my DeLorean in 1996 with 19,000 original miles (#3876). At that time it had not been driven since 1985. It had sat in a dealership showroom for 14 years. The original Goodyear NCT60 tires were no longer round.
Thanks for the info
My dad had a delorean and it was one of the worst mechanical nightmares ive ever worked on
This video is a winner! it really paints the story of what project cars mean to people and the connections they build after they are running.
That was a phenomenal story
This is a really cool story. One of the top ones for me.. Awesome car and story
If I owned one of these, I'd have to try to get a speeding ticket doing 88mph. I realize in stock form that alone could be difficult. I'd also have to choose a state with 80mph speed limits, and not try this someplace like Virginia where that stunt would run you $5k plus 2 years in jail...
Great story. I love DeLoreans and it's always great to find that "keeper".
Lmao yup. Driving your projecTV for the 1st time is the best feeling ever, I went through that with a wrecked 91 miata. That feeling is the most beautiful thing in the world, specially when you do it yourself. Happy Thursday guys🤙🏼🤙🏼
While Pontiac and DeLorean are no longer in the car making business, John DeLorean,s Legendary cars live on.
He wasn’t a very good coke dealer
@@theflanman1986 --All drug dealers get caught, then you go to crime school ( prison) and figure out what you did wrong.
Your dad is Mr. Miyagi isn't it? yeah he is, I know it!
Years ago i had a chance to see 4 DeLoreans at a Lamberts in Missouri. 3 of them were factory spec and the other was painted yellow. I always wished we had a camera to get a picture, but the memory is always there. To this day I have yet to see another DeLorean on the streets.
Lol this is definitely a great one!
The Delorean is famous beyond car people, anyone who loves Back To The Future see this car as one of the stars of the films. Seeing one in person is like meeting a celebrity.
Good morning, have a good Thursday.
That’s a nice story
Great story...Thanks. A DeLorean always makes me smile in a good way. I Have the same with a Humber Super Snipe, a Iso sports car and a De Tomaso Deauville.
Are there any stories about a Pantera . I would love to hear some stories on a car like that
Can't believe they made the deluxo from GTA 5 a real thing
I think this is a great story for those of us who can afford Lamborghinis, Ferraris,McLaren's Etc It's not how much you pay for a car that makes people excited or considered to be an exotic!!
Amazing story was smiling the whole time he told it ✌🏼
Really cool guy, please bring him back sometime in the future!!
Kristián Uhde yes.......back to the future....
i feel like a delorean is a non-car guy's idea of a dream car
What a great story! Hello from #vin10769
It's funny how a few movies ingrained a brand in our mind even tho the brand failed and is no longer with us. I wish we could bring it back somehow!
Mark K The brand is still alive and they're desperately trying to re-make the cars from the inventory of NOS parts. Government red tape is all that's holding it up. www.delorean.com/new-delorean-production-update.htm
Great story and it hits close to home with me and my ol rusty 91 4WS prelude, took one hell of a chance saving it and now I'm stuck forever lol with the most reliable loveable vehicle I've ever owned. Thank you for a smile on a rainy day, makes me damn happy to see morevpeople taking a risk on an 80's or 90's car
Amazing story
Sounds like a great financial idea!
I remember seeing a converted DeLorean (back to the future) parking at the school i was attending at the time. I never found the owner; but i think i took pictures of it from the outside. I remember it being a pretty good conversion job. That's the only time i've seen one in person. this was around 1998 or so.
By far best story to hear to make your day better
At 7:20 that appears to be a 50's era Willys Overland pickup you are parked next to.
You know my dream car is a Porsche gt3 or a turbo s, but I know deep down the delorean is my dream car... thanks for sharing. Loved the video 👌
Nice young man bring him back again
Years? Where we're going we don't need years.
Was it bubbles from trailerpark boys that you met in the gas station?
LMAO!!!!
Great guy, we need him more often!
This was a great one
This guy needs to come back that was a great story.
Deloreans are legendary
I very, very, badly want to get a Delorean sometime.
I got a new DeLorean and it’s still in the plastic made by hot wheels
That color is gorgeous!!! A bmw i8 would look smokin in that color too.
Color?
Color?
This guy's cool !!
One might think he is exaggerating the attention the car gets... but I bet he is not!!
This story is great😃 all the way from Philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Oi bading
My father has been sick for a whole now and weve always loved cars together. I asked him a few weeks ago if I could find any car for him to drive one time what would it be, blew my mind when he said delorean. Now I've gotta find someone to help make it happen!!
I got to admit I lost my composure when I first seen one in real life
What a great story! I enjoyed this. Inspiring.
Anybody else remember when people were basically giving DeLoreans away? What ever happened to that?
Market caught on... BTTF getting more popular, etc... Although there are Deloreans on ebay for over $50k cost and that is insane!!!
Good thing about this car. Hard to get a speeding ticket in it.
