I used to live nearby and the view of this was always there as a boy. My sister worked there in the seventies. It is sad to see what was pulled down to make way for it.
Great video, thanks for sharing. My understanding is there's a lot of asbestos in the building and it would be very expensive to remove it safely, which is why it's been left for so long.
Nice video. There are actually trees growing out of the roof of the Stationery Office building! I understand that the plans for Anglia Square are still to be finalised but I'm surprised that no work has commenced to demolish the structures that are no longer in use.
It was. HMSO stands for Her Majestys Stationery Office. All the office equipment, paper pens etc etc were procured through this office for the entire country back in the day. It is a proper eyesore now.
This is beautifully filmed. Thanks for sharing.

The conversion of the office block across the road to 1000 student flats might push it along
@@PaulphotoeyeVideo I think my mum worked in that scaffolded building in the 1960s.
@@mattw8332 My sister was a punch card operator. Early method of storing computer data. That department was where QD is now.
@@PaulphotoeyeVideo My mum was a punch card operator too but I can't remember which building or employer it was.
Looks like that must have been quite the facility at one point.
