You should make a second jar of the books on your TBR that you have never been in the mood for and make that the JAIL JAR!! Then it’s kind of a consequence but you still get the books off your TBR!
This is great and a good version of the OG creator of this type of TBR board game and that is Becca and the books who runs the yearly readathon Bookopoly. She done a special round for Halloween this year and called it Spookopoly.
You did a great version of the board with some cracking twists, look forward to watching you playing this TBR game. With the JAIL space it could be add 3 more books to your picks this month. Or it could be “Forget what you have picked so far…start your monthly TBR again”
So it looked like one corner said JAIL and another said BOOK JAIL. So I think the JAIL spot should be to add another roll to the game so you end up with an extra book (ex. if your regular game play was 5 rolls for 5 books you would end up doing 6 rolls for 6 books). And the BOOK JAIL spot should be less than appealing prompts. So you would make another little jar of prompts like "over 500 pages", "genre you don't normally read", "book you originally DNF'd", etc.
In normal Monopoly, you have to wait three turns or try to roll a double to get out of Jail...so maybe this Jail is "read picks until you get a five star, or read three books" to get out of "jail."
A few ideas for jail - 1) you have to read whatever book is currently the oldest on your TBR 2) you have to add another book to your TBR 3) you have to add a TBR book that’s one of your least-read genres like a classic or memoir or anthology or something 4) you have to give an author a second chance - if there’s any books on your TBR from an author that you haven’t previously enjoyed, you have to read one of those books and give them a second chance

I Love the game! Did you ever think about putting the iPad version online (people could for example print it out) if you’ve already done one anyway? You could even sell it for like 1 or 2$ or whatever. The promts could be on a printable pdf sheet and then people would just need to print everything and glue it on cardboard. It would be such a fun thing for your community to kind of play together! ☺️
Book jail could be remove a book from your tbr - at the end of choosing, you could do random number generator and whichever number it lands on correlates to the book you picked out in order and it has to be removed. So say you get a 3, you have to remove the third book you picked out. I feel like that could be chaotic 😅
Maybe "Jail" can be used to put a book from the months tbr before the current onto the new tbr. Like if you didn't manage to read all of them last month.

Another punishment could be something like no book buying for that month. Or having to automatically pull a green card to take another long forgotten book off of your shelf.
Why did I think those were life preservers and not a stack of books (although the life saver cards could be something where you land there and use it as a swap a book already picked)
