There were many problems on the anime side that led to this, I think. Supposedly the anime companies screwed the director so much that he went bankrupt. Supposedly the lead committee kept trying to cut the budget and forced the director to work with companies he didn’t want to while cutting out his company from money, but leaving them with responsibility. It had nothing to do with the idol unit, but because the business side was so bad, they took the fall.
