One thing I want to remind everyone is that paintings like these take a lot of time for me to do. If anyone feels frustrated after a night of painting and still not going anywhere, rest assured that I was at that same place after that amount of time. No trick mentioned in this video is by itself at all difficult but the willingness to keep trying when so many ideas fail... that for me and everyone else is the hard part. My videos aren’t here to show that painting is easy but to make people be okay with the fact that it’s not. Once you settle in to the journey and stop trying to skip to the end, only then it becomes immensely enjoyable 🐻
That makes me really happy to hear that. I think it’s completely normal for this situation to affect one’s creativity. Personally I’m just trying to lower the bar for myself to the point where I can just come up with ideas that are mostly just fun for me to paint. That’s basically what this whole piece was about too.
I was just going to skim through the video but ended up watching the whole thing. I really like how you talk through the process and explain how you feel about doing certain parts. Thanks for the motivation. I'm often too impatient for these bigger pieces, but I'm going to give it another shot :).
This was painted over several days. The days when I left the piece unfinished it still looked really bad. I think a lot of people expect to get things done in one sitting and honestly there’s nothing wrong with that either. The pieces that can be done in one day just require a different kind of planning and the design decisions have to acknowledge the time commitments. Paintings with more details aren’t inherently better. They’re just harder to maintain focused and therefore have more opportunities to veer off track.
Definitely! It takes practice to visualize where you're going and plan accordingly. Creating an effective workflow for creative projects is one of the things that take a long time to feel natural. Just like the style of the end product, all artist also have a different style of workflow, especially in this time of digital art. That's why videos like these, where you can see a project from start to finish, are so interesting to watch. Thanks for doing these :)
I like the fact that you explain pretty much everything you do, feels a lot more informative than the usual silent speedpaint that people often go for. Hyvin vedetty ✌
beginner pro my fear is when I forget to flip my canvas to see my mistakes til I’m almost finished with my drawing and I know I have to flip it but I also know I’m gonna ruin my image of it lol.
I've started working digitally over the last 8 months, but I started working with procreate in December. I love it so much. I want to be able to create pieces that appear like paintings, but I've never been much of a painter traditionally, so I feel like it's difficult for me to grasp it digitally. I tried doing a pretty basic forest landscape and it was got awful lmao.
Painting is hard in any medium, what matters is finding fun in the actual creation process since the outcomes can often be surprising no matter how experienced one becomes.
By no means I am a digital art expert, but still have a bit of experience ^^ did you try doing "studies" when you take a picture of a forest and just replicate it? It helps so much as a training! I know many artists who liked to just redraw existing paintings just to study colour and technique,i think you could try that) I personally never used paintings, but love to use pictures
I had the same feeling and what changed it for me was finding a good blending brush. Because if the colors don’t blend right it’s never going to look painterly. They have free ones you can super easily download.
Painting this mostly felt like walking outside in a park, which is something I miss right now. There's an actual blizzard outside my window as I type this.
I was in an art rut for a long time and whenever I start on a painting, I’d stop mid-way. Anxious to finish for some reason, but whenever I listen to ya, makes me feel like I can push on with my art. I’m trying to paint an isometric room in procreate, hopefully I’ll be proud to show it when it’s done.
u might be scared to finish and see that the painting didn't turn out how u wanted it, i think. this is common in artists. its not only important that u trust and believe urself, but that u let urself make the mistakes, notice those mistakes, and then fix them
I love when he gets so excited about the painting he's doing. When he talks about how much he's enjoying painting and can "paint this roof panel all day long." It honestly motivates me more than the artwork itself!
I don’t know how to explain this feeling but I really loved watching your process and listening to your commentary through it! It was very comforting to listen through and the type of house you painted over the template is phenomenal! Absolutely love the texture you created, really inspiring! Thank you for sharing its process!
don’t feel bad about painting what you enjoy! it’s 100x greater than my skill level, but it really makes me happy to think that i will find what i enjoy to paint. your work is beautiful
I think we ALL get excited about painting clouds. 😊 ⛅️ The joy you take in so much of this process really comes through in your commentary, it’s inspiring to listen to.
I hope I can do clouds for that LumaFusion tutorial I’ve been working on. I used to think I spend too much time painting clouds but now I think such limitations are just imaginary and silly.
angrymikko Oh, I’m excited to see what you’ll show us with LumaFusion! I’ve been using it to stitch together video lessons for my singing students while we’re all teaching/learning from home. It’d be neat to dive into some of the more advanced things it can do.

I empathize with almost everything you say in your commentaries. I share your love for the ghibli-esque, passions for painting foliage. I feel the same when you go on your little excitement tangents 🥰We are very similar people, and I hope to one day have the talent and skill you have. Thank you for your inspiring videos!
listening to you getting so excited to add on the details was so cute and warming haha i feel the same way too whenever i get to the details part because that's the moment where you go "aha! now it's the real deal, let's do this"
I love your enthusiasm when you paint things you love, I havent found that thing that i love painting, but you've inspired me to really make things that i really love to do, not that I think makes sense or that other people will enjoy. Just do what I love.
Oh wow...I don't usually watch speedpaint type videos, but this was such a joy to watch because your joy in painting this was so contagious! I also just adore the subject - I love old cottages 😍 I usually feel intimidated by other people's art and process, but you explained everything in such a compassionate and clear way that I felt included and encouraged. And thanks to you I learned so much!!! Subscribing now 🤗
The way you make the brick wall is brilliant and inspired! I would've been stuck drawing it brick by brick eventhough I know full well what the tools are. Thank you, I feel like we're all sitting in a cafe or a class somewhere and making art together and it is very comforting when the reality is we're all stuck at home and got art block.
I'm in tears 😢 I used to draw and then got carried away with other things and I just stopped drawing. I lot my passion I couldn't draw. After watching your video ur explanation in the background I think I'm going to start over again. You have inspired me to keep going. I couldn't express through words how much this means to me.
This is the first video I’ve seen of yours (thank you UA-cam recommendations) and the joy that you seem to have creating work and learning new things is really infectious. Just wanted to say thanks and great job with the video and the art!
I have been watching procreate tutorials and I just found yours. This is now my favorite because of your thinking process and how your digital painting feels so much similar to traditional paintings, which I love! I have always been hesitant to jump into digital art but I am trying it now. I am an advocate of painting by "my emotions" and I love how you don"t conform to conventional ways of how an artist "should be". You are very mindful of aligning how you feel to how you want your painting to look like. It"s amazing! Really looking forward to dive deeper into your work. Thank you for sharing this! This is gold. 💕
I also love your commentary, and love how much joy you get from painting little plants and flowers :) This is such a beautiful painting, and it was helpful to see your process, as someone who is still trying to get a grip on procreate. I need to explore creating brushes more, I’m a bit intimidated by it haha. Also, one of my favorite notes was when you wrote something like “I feel like artists often feel guilty for doing things they enjoy instead of doing things that are challenging.” And woooowww that resonates with me. That’s real. Thanks for this video and sharing your thoughts and process. 👍👍👍
I love your sense of humor, Mikko. Your yokes help us --THE VIEWERS-- relax and smile when you are painting, and also we get to understand why you do certain things in your paintings. Greetings from Georgia, USA. October 30, 2021
This has been really helpful. Painting has always been one of my favorite but most difficult dreams, but the way you explain things help to understand why you do things. Thank you so much, words cannot describe how much this helped me :)
This was really enjoyable to watch 😊 and the tips of paining over instead of erasing is a tip I think I’ll keep in mind ! Ahh also I always do the bright colours in my art last first as well
angrymikko ahh I understand! To be honest I’m not good art working on black and white pieces , I draw everything from my sketch to lineart in colour, I guess it depends on the artist eye (also I apologise for my bad English 🙏 )
This is my first time watching one of your videos and besides the obvious talent you are showcasing, I really appreciate how open you are and how much you love what you do. It is charming and affecting. Thanks!
Thank you so much. This tipe of videos is just what I need. I'm a little frustrada with the digital paint, and been looking some tips but all I foumd is perfect paint videos with music. Ones who shows the beggining and then the end, fast. See ur process make me understand what I may be doing wrong. I delete to fast the things I paint. I need to keep working on them until is ready. ♥️🌺Thank you so much.
After I spent all this time to hide it 🐻💕 This platform is like an ocean. Before I became a creator I had no idea just how much content there is that I wasn’t even aware of.
I had to go back a few seconds and rewatch so many times because I was laughing so much at the written commentary that I completely missed what you were talking about 😆 the super professional hitting of the screen really got me. I now know what is missing from my workflow 😂
Wow mikko! UA-cam recommended this to me, and I am LOVING it, first of all your art is beautiful, but listening to you talk is amazing. Such great insights and most of all the character and sparkle in your voice is magical. Thank you!
I just found this channel put and i love this, I am not really the type to comment but i just wanna tell u that this is one of the best art channels, totally relaxing and knowledgeable. You share your experience, explain why u do this, why u do that, suggesting best practice. The videos are long but i can't help but drawn into. Truly an inspirational and educational video.
Wonderful process video and your narration of your process is so nice! I want to emphasize how much I appreciate your honesty and genuine analysis in this dialogue. I subscribed for the quality of the work, then because of you and your personality and honesty, and also because of the video quality too. Please keep up the great work! Thank you :)
I’m totally not casual about it. I’m holding onto a champagne bottle as I’m getting closer to that 10k mark XD I’m ridiculously excited about all this I can’t even explain it 🐻🐦💕
First of all: This is beautiful! I love your enthousiasm and the way you are able to explain what you're doing and why you're doing what you're doing. It's really inspiring
It's crazy to see how it grows from essentially a bunch of brush strokes to such an incredibly detailed, wonderful painting! I learned a lot from this, thank you! :)
Many of my paintings start out like a chaos of paint strokes until I see something in there. I hope nobody thinks I have any idea what I’m doing in the beginning. There’s no secret plan I really am just as lost as anyone watching the beginnings of these videos. That’s why I call these processes videos not tutorials.
@@angrymikko Haha that makes me feel much better about my art! When I'm not doing realistic pieces, it always looks really bad at the beginning and I just have to remind myself that's how it usually goes until the end lol!
It’s really satisfying to put finishing touches to a piece like this when there’s enough of those layers of paint that have been built up. The start to this style can be an uphill battle though so it’s just a lot of positive self talk to keep going past that “why does everything look so damn meh!”-phase :D
at the start of this year i applied for art school and got rejected which discouraged me to draw or paint, soon after came quarantine which completely killed my love for doing art, i just found your channel and i wanna thank you so much because you’ve inspired me to give art a shot again. I’m trying out for that art school once more this february (:
I think everyone is having trouble connecting with their creativity right now. I think it's important to forgive yourself for not being as productive as usual and maybe set really easy to accomplish goals like "paint for 5 minutes" inspiration usually comes only with momentum and momentum is only possible by starting. Too often we expect those three to work in the opposite order. I'm right there with you dealing with the same stuff right now, but I'm trying to break bigger tasks to pieces where they feel easier to manage. Good luck.
You’ve singlehandedly made me facepalm in the best way. I’ve used Procreate for almost 3 years, and you’ve taught me so many tricks that would’ve saved me so much time!! Now I can apply them in the future, thank you for your honesty, and creativity 🙏
Thank you, that means a lot to me. I'm glad I just started painting something even though I have to admit my creativity was nowhere to be found in the beginning of this process. The whole premise was basically "okay if there are no divine intervention ideas then we'll just go someplace nice" worth it =)
I'm just overwhelmed and happy that this many people have found my channel. To be honest when I started yt a few years ago I fully expected this all to fail and that nobody would care. The numbers on my channel that might seem tiny to most seem absolutely huge to me. I never thought I'd ever make it to 10k but it's starting to look almost inevitable now and the troops here at home (me and my group of bears) are just following the situation second by second with our party hats on. 🐻🐻💖
Your commentary is so helpful for me to understand your thought process! And ive learnt so much from just from this 🥰 I cant wait for more of these 💖
One thing I want to remind everyone is that paintings like these take a lot of time for me to do. If anyone feels frustrated after a night of painting and still not going anywhere, rest assured that I was at that same place after that amount of time.

The idea of this guy getting frustrated because his gardens won’t grow while his roof is flourishing by itself is kind of adorable
because of quarantine my boredom has made me stop drawing. However, this & your other videos has inspired me to get back into it
That makes me really happy to hear that. I think it’s completely normal for this situation to affect one’s creativity.
Personally I’m just trying to lower the bar for myself to the point where I can just come up with ideas that are mostly just fun for me to paint.
That’s basically what this whole piece was about too.
I feel the exact same way
wait wouldn't boredom make you want to draw more to get out of the boredom or is that justs me
heechman Yeah same o.o
heechman same
I love how you genuinely sound so excited and happy to paintthe foliage on the roof. It made me look forward to seeing you do it.
well it is only the best thing ever =) especially after all that stair stuff...
Wow I just watched a 30 minutes youtube video without skipping once... Hats off to you!
So underrated
I was just going to skim through the video but ended up watching the whole thing. I really like how you talk through the process and explain how you feel about doing certain parts. Thanks for the motivation. I'm often too impatient for these bigger pieces, but I'm going to give it another shot :).

Kiitti :)
I giggle every time you talk about your fear of drawing stairs. It’s like my fear of drawing feet 😂
Same as my fear of drawing hands 😅😅😅
God, i'm so scared of drawing feet, like I'm really sucked at that🤣🤣
beginner pro my fear is when I forget to flip my canvas to see my mistakes til I’m almost finished with my drawing and I know I have to flip it but I also know I’m gonna ruin my image of it lol.
My fear of drawing hair.
Yo, I HATE drawing hands! They're so hard!
i love how he always sounds like he's about to laugh, it made me giggle the whole way through the video
Watching you paint is so relaxing 🍵🍃😌
Painting this mostly felt like walking outside in a park, which is something I miss right now. There's an actual blizzard outside my window as I type this.
You are the best 💜 Always be a friend to be together ^^ Have a nice day
I was in an art rut for a long time and whenever I start on a painting, I’d stop mid-way.
You're like the Bob Ross I needed to really feel the joy of painting... please please never stop uploading.
The joy you take in so much of this process really comes through in your commentary, it’s inspiring to listen to.
Wow, the illustration is so beautiful and detailed owo
When I was a kid, my dad taught me how to draw and paint. I got pretty good at it during my elementary days. I learned gradient, emphasis, proportion, and more. When I stepped into high school, I got more engaged with doing more academic works and school matters that I almost forgot my drawing techniques and questioned myself why am I not doing art anymore? Back at that time, my classmates were very good at painting, portraits, sketching, video editing, photography, and more. They're the ones who usually lead in art projects & performance tasks such as dioramas, miniatures, role plays, fashion shows, short films, and more. I thought that my classmates are so much better than me, and I won't be pursuing art as my career, so why bother?" There are times that I get chances to show my art capabilities like one time when my artist friends convinced me to join them in joining a painting contest at school. I agreed since it was a good idea to be with my friends, at the same time, throwback some of my art memories. Fortunately, we won first place. Those times left a little space in my heart just for art, but I still wasn't back at it again. Til then, my priorities were studying engineering courses, and sad to say, I thought that art makes a difference to the world but not as much as technology, business, etc can, that "art is not essential for survival" as others say. While I am in college, this quarantine, I always get pretty busy about engaging with engineering stuff but still has time procrastinating, unfortunately. I forgot to say, I love stationery, and I found myself watching videos on how to make art more valuable and even profitable. It was waking the dormant artsy heart in me. My scholarship allowance was coming this August, and I was thinking of buying art supplies to try and get back to creating artsy things while being business-minded. Those allowances will be my investments to prove that art isn't just nonsense, that it can be a profitable mind-opener. Am I doing the right thing?
This is so wholesome, love seeing someone so passionate about what they are doing
Sooooo gorgeous. Detailed flower roof is just to die for. Right now I'm only at the stage of tracing famous paintings...and putting my spin on them.🖼
I'm in tears 😢 I used to draw and then got carried away with other things and I just stopped drawing. I lot my passion I couldn't draw. This is now my favorite because of your thinking process and how your digital painting feels so much similar to traditional paintings, which I love! I am an advocate of painting by "my emotions" and I love how you don"t conform to conventional ways of how an artist "should be". This is gold. 💕
I love your attitude/voice when telling about your process. Thank you for sharing.
so calming to watch and you seem so kind
I also love your commentary, and love how much joy you get from painting little plants and flowers :) This is such a beautiful painting, and it was helpful to see your process, as someone who is still trying to get a grip on procreate. I love you art! Never stop doing videos of your process. It inspires me. ❤️
Looks stunning!
This has been really helpful. Painting has always been one of my favorite but most difficult dreams, but the way you explain things help to understand why you do things. Thank you so much, words cannot describe how much this helped me :)
Your work is amazing! Your love of the process and excitement about the creative journey inspires me greatly!
This was really enjoyable to watch 😊 and the tips of paining over instead of erasing is a tip I think I’ll keep in mind ! Ahh also I always do the bright colours in my art last first as well
The editing phase is also one of the many reasons why I don’t do black & white bases for anything. Just doesn’t give the same flexibility in the end.
angrymikko ahh I understand! To be honest I’m not good art working on black and white pieces , I draw everything from my sketch to lineart in colour, I guess it depends on the artist eye (also I apologise for my bad English 🙏 )
I love how happy you are just because you get to paint fun leaves, awesome!
Listening to how happy you get when you finally get to paint the roof gives me life! Really thoroughly enjoy your commentary. :) Beautiful work!
This is my first time watching one of your videos and besides the obvious talent you are showcasing, I really appreciate how open you are and how much you love what you do. It is charming and affecting. Thanks!
Jaw drop!! You are so talent
No words.. you are beyond talented.. what an amazing gift you have. Thanks for sharing ♥️
You are so talented! i'm saving so i can buy an ipad and follow your tutorials, you inspire me so much!!
Wow ..
I am blown out by this drawing 🤯
Thank you so much. This tipe of videos is just what I need. I'm a little frustrada with the digital paint, and been looking some tips but all I foumd is perfect paint videos with music. I watched this whole thing with my jaw on the floor this is so amazing
Wow! Your painting process is so insightful and your piece is so charming. So glad I found your channel! 😍

Thank you for your great videos, I only found you recently but feel like I could watch you paint and listen to you all day 😊
Wow mikko! UA-cam recommended this to me, and I am LOVING it, first of all your art is beautiful, but listening to you talk is amazing. Such great insights and most of all the character and sparkle in your voice is magical. Thank you!

Moi Mikko, thx 4 this Great Video! The way u Talk about the process and how ur focussing on the details shows so much compassion. Thumbs up:)
aah so beautifuuul
What a nice video! I'm not good at landscapes but I enjoy very much seeing other artist painting!
Amazing, i already added the painting video playlist into my library😍😍
Dude, you're legit the real deal! Great work 🙌🏻

I don’t know whether I should thank you or apologise 🤷♂️
i love how excited you get about painting the flowers and plants :)
I always (not always, not even factually half of the time) leave the fun stuff to the end :)
This is beautiful! Every detail out there is well thought of. Great great work! 😍
I’m so glad I found your channel. Your enthusiasm is infectious! I’m new to procreate so I’m trying to learn all I can from watching other artists ❤️
Your drawing technique is so cool and so magic! Thanks for the wonderful video.
That is great! to see the process from the beginning and see how others work in procreate) 😍
I'm binge watching all your videos while painting. Thank you very much, this is great stuff
really thanks for this video i was needing
Wow man this video is blowing up! Congratulations bud you deserve it!!
Your passion is adorable
really beautiful !
looking great - really a very nice "juiciness" to it - the light greens really jump out - great work :-)
It’s really satisfying to put finishing touches to a piece like this when there’s enough of those layers of paint that have been built up. The start to this style can be an uphill battle though so it’s just a lot of positive self talk to keep going past that “why does everything look so damn meh!”-phase :D
God bless you!! You are an amazing artist with an amazing gift!!!
This is wholesome and helpful! Thank you for providing insight!
wow so beautiful ❤️
I will support your channel .
I really love your painterly style and again it's so informative. Thank you for sharing your experience and beautiful paintings with us.
at the start of this year i applied for art school and got rejected which discouraged me to draw or paint, soon after came quarantine which completely killed my love for doing art, i just found your channel and i wanna thank you so much because you’ve inspired me to give art a shot again. I’m trying out for that art school once more this february (:
Thank you Mikko for a wonderful and honest tutorial. Your humor makes the process real and inspires me! Stay well!
I take no responsibility for any damage caused by following these instructions \o/
It’s so amazing!
I’ve been going through art block, this was a great inspiration :)
Good luck.
Beautiful art
Awesome stuff Mikko! Thanks!
Seriously though this turned out beautifully!
So beautiful! This video brought me so much joy xx
I’m so happy to hear that 🐻💝
Cool video and personnal tips, i really enjoyed watching you go through the process of watching your creation taking shape.
I kind of miss this art challenge. It was really fun making all those houses :)
You’ve singlehandedly made me facepalm in the best way. I’ve used Procreate for almost 3 years, and you’ve taught me so many tricks that would’ve saved me so much time!! Now I can apply them in the future, thank you for your honesty, and creativity 🙏
love this video. It was like you tell me your painting process and what did you feel right in front of me.
wish you all the best always, Dude.
This is so beautiful!
It is very enjoyable to learn and watch.
Thank you!
Very lovely piece and great tutorial Your process and style are wonderful
Thank you so much for taking the time to comment :) this was a very relaxing piece to paint
I am not sure if it is the brush, the style (probably both), but this picture gives me so much Ghibli vibes. And I love it
this is such an excellent vid. so helpful and inspiring. thanks for sharing!
Always love your process videos 😊 your paintings are so incredibly beautiful!!
Thank you, that means a lot to me. I'm glad I just started painting something even though I have to admit my creativity was nowhere to be found in the beginning of this process. The whole premise was basically "okay if there are no divine intervention ideas then we'll just go someplace nice"
worth it =)
Love watching your videos. I think it is getting to be my new Sunday art-ritual :) Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge with us!
Wow it’s amazing 😉 so relaxing to watch
You’re very underrated, this is gorgeous 😍
I'm just overwhelmed and happy that this many people have found my channel. To be honest when I started yt a few years ago I fully expected this all to fail and that nobody would care. The numbers on my channel that might seem tiny to most seem absolutely huge to me.
I never thought I'd ever make it to 10k but it's starting to look almost inevitable now and the troops here at home (me and my group of bears) are just following the situation second by second with our party hats on. 🐻🐻💖
angrymikko Aw wow, yeah I learned a lot from your advice. Making my very own landscape painting now on procreate. Thanks for all your hard work 😊
WOW!!!! 🤩 𝚂𝚄𝙲𝙷 𝙰 𝙶𝙾𝙾𝙳 𝙰𝚁𝚃𝙸𝚂𝚃. 🎨 Great job 👏
A wild serif font appears! It’s super friendly. *mikko hearts a comment*
