This is why Chris is trapped on top of an island in the sky, where only the most powerful beings are allowed entrance to his domain(Ding Dong, Zach, Tomar, Julian, etc...).
Zanytiger6 You know, that’s actually brilliant to notice that. If you hadn’t pointed that out I wouldn’t have even thought about it. And It’s really seamless like it was set up in such a way that makes it appear like they were describing what the animator had already done. But of course the audio came first. I swear on multiple viewings I’m really starting to appreciate how this animation is damn near perfect in its flow and how natural it seems. Some times it takes someone to point out their perspective on things for you to notice how nuanced and brilliant something truly is.
I love when Chris says, "He turns the NERF gun black and white" and no one questions wtf that even means or why he would do that haha. Such an overlooked moment.
If I lost track of a blurry tiny man inside my home I wouldn’t be able to sleep because I’d worry about waking up to him standing on my nose with a tooth pick aimed at my eyes.
Something about Chris immediately jumping to murdering someone, simply because he can't quite make them out in the darkness of the night, cracks me up.
There's a very weird existential horror to punishing your kids by making them sit in front of a television and watch an old VCR of a man you can't quite make out standing far away in an empty field. For some reason that seems like it would be traumatizing without any real explanation why.
The situation of a stranger staring at you in an open space is primally terrifying. You can't escape from them easily, there's nowhere to hide, and their intentions are unknown. The TV can't be reasoned with or questioned, and the man will never lose interest in staring you, making it almost like a still image of a skull in terms being a symbol of lizard-brain anxiety.
"Misbehaving children have to watch the man" legitimately sounds like a creepypasta, like about an older brother and a younger brother that had a foreign grandpa that when they'd misbehave he would make them watch an old video of a far shot of a dark, distant figure and everytime they'd watch it the figure got closer to the camera and the younger brother starts acting out and rebelling so the family tells the older brother they took him to juvie or something and years later he asks the grandpa about his brother and he tells him the Man took him
Stephen King has a short story almost like that with a polaroid camera that only develops photos of a dog and each photo is the dog getting closer. It gets to a point where the dog climbs out of the photograph (kinda like The Ring)
“He’s a tiny man running around. It doesn’t mean anything” The fact that a supernatural, tiny person loose in someone’s house doesn’t mean anything to DingDong is so hilarious. It’s like not even a mysterious, cursed being entering our reality is enough to take DD out of his perpetually lethargic and bored state of mind.
