Love it that you can see Mealamu bracing as he realizes who is in front of him. Doubt he cared too much though. If memory serves, he had just scored a try.
@fewhavestrength But what?? Here's a short description of what was good about it: Mealamu - quite a unit - is running at pace, tries to step Phillips but he reads it perfectly. Phillips hits Mealamu at chest height, gets the shoulder in, wraps both arms round him, head on the right side, great body position, drives him backwards and dumps him on his arse. Now, what on earth is wrong with this?
@drumgodam You're very welcome sir. Doesn't matter how you find it, the game of rugby is there to be enjoyed by all. Great fun to watch, even greater fun to play!
i'm going to just say that wales could be the next dominant force in rugby, the performance they put in at the world cup nearly overshadowed the all blacks, if it hadn't been for that tackle i could see wales having lifted the cup instead. their players are outstanding, and individuals such as philips, with the skill and power in positions like scrum half give an attacking and defensive advantage that not many other teams possess.
@Levzi I'm not saying he's not a good player; please pardon me I didn't quite phrase that right, what I really meant was that it's all well and good saying he's a brilliant scrum-half, but you have to remember, he's the size of a flanker: most scrum-halves are under six feet tall. So yes, he performs well, but I would expect any flanker or number eight to perform well at scrum-half.
Yep good hit but Kevin took it and presented the ball for his team mates to get quick ball and continue to attack, Thats one of the many facets of the All Blacks play that makes them so good!,any other team would have knocked the ball on,or panicked and got done for holding on. Im Welsh and im happy to admit the gulf in class between the All Blacks and Wales :)
I wholeheartedly agree that Genia is the best scrum half in the world now and possibly ever...but you can't base complete strength only on how much he benches
@UrbanRedBull i read a report on it a while ago on the internet, i read up about pierre spies too and he only benches 165, so if Genia is benching more than spies then thats pretty amazing
haha I'm telling you man he benched 190KG. last year he came second in the Reds pre season 'king of the gym' comp. He had the highest bench though, 190kg. Next time you see him on tv but not on the field check out his chest and Bi's. Massive.
@TheReelDylan well, he's actually probably been the 9 of the tournament. but that just makes your opinion wrong. which it is of course allowed (supposed) to be. but i didn't read your original comment. just the part where you said "an opinion can't be wrong", which was the funniest thing i'd read that day (it was a poor day)
@taweraster Not to be offensive, but that's a silly argument. It doesn't really matter if Wales hadn't beaten them for a million years, on any given match, there's still always a possibility of Wales defeating them, and considering they should have beaten France, I think they could quite easily have beaten New Zealand.
@taweraster sorry but did you watch them? they lost heart after the loss to france after putting in maybe the most epic performance of the world cup taking france to within a point being a man down for 60mins, add to that not having their captain for the next game against australia, and a weakened scrum, the effort and performances they put in were outstanding through the tournament all to be rendered pointless by one reckless tackle. lets see how they fair today and then we'll know..........
@ruthio1 Not Much, but after watching all six nations play here in New Zealand during the world cup, I kinda want to. Oh and I was lucky enough to see Ireland play in New Plymouth ... TWICE lol
@UrbanRedBull i wouldnt say phillips is the "greatest" halfback, but lets be honest in a game of rugby, strength isnt determined by how much you can "bench" its your physicality in the game, and mike phillips is definately the most physical halfback in the game
What does being tall have to do with anything? If anything as a halfback you want to be short, so you can snipe around the edges of play and rucks. Genia run all around and over Phillips in the June tests, that is fact.
@h7p10 as long as we can have mealamu when our captain rees is injured which is all the time. I ll get on the phone the the welsh rugby union now hahaha
@h7p10 wales beat irlenad in ireland with a last second penalty beat scotland then went to twickenham and beat england with a try right at the end best day of my life hahaha type in scott williams try what a day
Kevin Mealamu " Ah awesome ive got the ball, now I just need to find a half back to run over..oo the 9 ...awesome they are normally tin...oh fuck its mike phillips..."
@2patero hmm no new zealand are a class team.spear tackles and headbutts do you watch rugby ?new zealand play the best rugby in the world not because they do spear tackles and head butts because there so clinical!
@matt2k6wales deffinately not him haha. anyone other than him. never heard of him plus he plays for wales no way he could be strong haha kidding but still
@JCB411abuser Really? A stand-out World Cup and apparently you're some sort of "dominant force"? The WOBBLIES beat you guys for crying out loud. There is no possible way that you "could see wales having lifted the cup", Wales haven't beaten New Zealand for 57 years!
Love it that you can see Mealamu bracing as he realizes who is in front of him. Doubt he cared too much though. If memory serves, he had just scored a try.
@UrbanRedBull actually Genia only benches 172kg which is still very good for a scrum half, but quite a way off the 190 you said it was
@fewhavestrength But what??

@fewhavestrength - care to explain what was wrong with it? Bloody brilliant tackle.
Wales v New Zealand is always a good game
@lwzable what? where did you get that? I swear it was 190
@UrbanRedBull i read a report on it a while ago on the internet, i read up about pierre spies too and he only benches 165, so if Genia is benching more than spies then thats pretty amazing
Good hit, Mike Phillips is a massive half-back though, looks more like a midfielder
is that...Ian Smith commentating, as in the former Kiwi cricket wicket keeper!?
Good tackle by the Welshman. Mealamu can take the knocks though.
No Genia can actually bench 172 kg and that's a fact. He weighs 85 kgs as well so that's huge for a small guy like him.
@UrbanRedBull mike phillips is amazing! he's probably the strongest
@whozyou42 who would u say is then ?
haha I'm telling you man he benched 190KG. last year he came second in the Reds pre season 'king of the gym' comp. He had the highest bench though, 190kg. Next time you see him on tv but not on the field check out his chest and Bi's. Massive.
Sorry mate I got the stats confused, Willy G is solid, but it was Hanson who took out the king of the gym with 190kg bench
@TheReelDylan well, he's actually probably been the 9 of the tournament. but that just makes your opinion wrong. which it is of course allowed (supposed) to be. but i didn't read your original comment. just the part where you said "an opinion can't be wrong", which was the funniest thing i'd read that day (it was a poor day)
@h7p10 u seen any of the 6 nations
@matt2k6wales No I watch Tiddly Winks!
@2patero how good at rugby are you?
wow just looked this up, apparently he reps on 170kg, thats absolutely ridiculous
He didn't even feel it lol
we need him in the all blacks squad lol
@taweraster Not to be offensive, but that's a silly argument. It doesn't really matter if Wales hadn't beaten them for a million years, on any given match, there's still always a possibility of Wales defeating them, and considering they should have beaten France, I think they could quite easily have beaten New Zealand.
strongest scrum half in the world
@taweraster sorry but did you watch them? they lost heart after the loss to france after putting in maybe the most epic performance of the world cup taking france to within a point being a man down for 60mins, add to that not having their captain for the next game against australia, and a weakened scrum, the effort and performances they put in were outstanding through the tournament all to be rendered pointless by one reckless tackle. lets see how they fair today and then we'll know..........
@JCB411abuser so do you still see wales lifting the cup ahead of the all blacks based on another loss at home against wallabies!!!
Huge hit.
Not many scrum halves built like phillips.
@nickojb7 but mealamu has got all that and heaps of experience
172 isnt 190 though is it
JAJA MEALAMU HASNT FEEL IT JJAAJ
@blah350 yeah but mealamu is solid everywhere else as well
@ruthio1 Not Much, but after watching all six nations play here in New Zealand during the world cup, I kinda want to. Oh and I was lucky enough to see Ireland play in New Plymouth ... TWICE lol
@rmccaw7 Maybe I worded it wrong then, "He's the strongest scrum half in the world in my opinion" but this World Cup he's been rubbish :( haha
@UrbanRedBull an opinion can't be wrong, that's why its an opinion and you should respect peoples opinions :)
@UrbanRedBull i wouldnt say phillips is the "greatest" halfback, but lets be honest in a game of rugby, strength isnt determined by how much you can "bench" its your physicality in the game, and mike phillips is definately the most physical halfback in the game
probably yes. but if you read what i said, you would see that i was saying they wouldnt beat NZ
@Yozakura5391 no it wasn't, have you ever been taught to tackle?
yeah
Yeah true, probably more now seeing that comment was made a year ago
Very true, sorry mate must have had a hot head that day haha
@scrumhalfwing I'm DEVASTATING!!!!!
@whozyou42 he probably is one of the strongest, played as a flanker for the maority of his life
but seriously, for a guy who weighs 85 kg thats alot bro
@TheReelDylan Genia is the strongest halfback. Benches 190kg. Phillips is just talller, hardly the "greatest" halfback
@UrbanRedBull its my opinion :)
@Chochili7 hahaha cheers mate u to but i dont think u need any luck to be fair
@drumgodam and it's even better to play than american football
@drumgodam Better than football? (That's your football, not soccer).
theres nothin good about mike phillips hes 6 3 and 16 stone if any other team had a back rower as a scrum half they'd be brilliant
Halfback on a front rower 😂
@ShaNz194 nope, just admire good rugby players.
@hanros98 aaahh good point lol
@dieinafire1 LOL that's a good one. Any more 'hilarious' jokes you can think of?
What does being tall have to do with anything? If anything as a halfback you want to be short, so you can snipe around the edges of play and rucks. Genia run all around and over Phillips in the June tests, that is fact.
ran*
@TheReelDylan well due to known fact, your opinion is wrong.
hell of a dummy mind lol
And Adam Jones as usual, just slow down avoiding to make a tackle.
@vonteflon exactly you haven't got a fucin clue :) yes it was a good tackle but...
@h7p10 as long as we can have mealamu when our captain rees is injured which is all the time. I ll get on the phone the the welsh rugby union now hahaha
@Chochili7 I love you.
@h7p10 no thats not fair if u steal phillips of us you will never lose a game gotta keep if fair mate lol
@fazer990 Its all good, we in nz will just have to console ourselves that our hookers make better, more incisive breaks than the entire welsh backline
@ruthio1 Deal lol
@matt2k6wales tons of others not even that well known but i'de say byron kelleher is stronger for one
@h7p10 wales beat irlenad in ireland with a last second penalty beat scotland then went to twickenham and beat england with a try right at the end best day of my life hahaha type in scott williams try what a day
haha no way genia benches 190
@hanros98 huia edmonds is just as good at running aswell
just my opinion lol
wales would of beaten france if warvurton didnt get sent off
@lmfaomatty The way France plays is a lot more suited to play the AB's. Wales would have been beaten pretty comfortably if they got to the final.
kevin mealamu > mike phillips
Kevin Mealamu " Ah awesome ive got the ball, now I just need to find a half back to run over..oo the 9 ...awesome they are normally tin...oh fuck its mike phillips..."
@2patero hmm no new zealand are a class team.spear tackles and headbutts do you watch rugby ?new zealand play the best rugby in the world not because they do spear tackles and head butts because there so clinical!
@Chochili7 Blackist
@matt2k6wales deffinately not him haha. anyone other than him. never heard of him plus he plays for wales no way he could be strong haha kidding but still
haha not even the big props, locks and flankers bench that much, he can probably do 190 pounds, thats more realistic
Clinical Headbutts and Spear Tackles! hehehehe
meh, the run was better than the tackle.
thats not a big hit
@nd didn't need another player to tackle or spear him
@JCB411abuser Really? A stand-out World Cup and apparently you're some sort of "dominant force"? The WOBBLIES beat you guys for crying out loud. There is no possible way that you "could see wales having lifted the cup", Wales haven't beaten New Zealand for 57 years!
@drumgodam and it's even better to play than american football
