@@xjkmr1 yeah thats honestly a fair point, as someone who’s played pilgrammed basically to the end i can say that at the beginning it a little boring but when you get to the good part its really good, but then again if a game has a DISTINCT good part and bad part then could you really say its a “good” game, but yeah good point
Hello, to answer the question about the soundtrack, yes, Potoe did make all the soundtracks! I myself actually helped with May The Heights Collapse and SEARCH AND DESTROY, mostly on guitar and drum work so it's nice to see OST get some attention. I love the game a lot as well, truly fire.
ULTRAKILL is objectively better than Combat Initiation, if you own ULTRAKILL there is literally no reason to play Combat Initiation. Not that CI is bad, but it's not worthwhile playing if you have access to the source material. EDIT: After some replies it was made clear to me that the leading factor of Combat Initiation is its multiplayer aspect. I don't disagree with that, but same point remains for everything else.
There's lots of good games in Roblox that are ruined by locking stuff behind randomness, "spin for ability" type of stuff. It's nice to see games that don't lock stuff with RNG, totally gonna give this game a try.
You know, if you keep playing those kind of good games your home page will always be full of them so you dont need search it pretty hard (like searching for good games on youtube) Also this happened to me and i'm pretty happy especially with the game "INNER BLUE 2"
3:30, for anyone curious to try the game, the sword isn’t actually that bad, it has several combos which are incredibly game changing, most notable being the early game Sword and Slingshot combo, which can turn into sword and Flamethrower. Both of those items have a little, mechanic from ultrakill, where you can fire off a “coin”, and hit it with the sword, similar to the flamethrower except it’s slower and explodes on hit. (I saw my friend use this in our duo run, and it killed damn near everything.) Oh! And there’s pogoing, which is hard to explain but is a very good movement option.
pogoing is when you use a sword and swing in the air on some sort of surface. I LOVE this mechanic because if you do a double jump dash you can pogo and keep your momentum until you hit the pogo limit and its so fun just zooming around killing everything.
@@TheBESTRamenOfAllTime I mean it's very good but that doesnt entirely mean its the best. Every weapon can be good on their own way. But in all seriousness though, sword very good weapon.
This game is basically a cool spin on ultrakill, where as there you mostly have weapons with variations, in CI you get to have 3 or 4 weapons by the end of stage 4 (latest stage at the time of writing) and instead or getting variations, you upgrade your existing weapon. The upgrades are usually either a buffed version of the existing weapon (katana, cannonball, multi rocket launcher) or a new gimmick (for example, firebrand has slower speed, sets on fire, fire blast attack) There's a good reason like every comment is comparing it to ultrakill, as a lot of the weapons, techs, enemies and bosses are basically stylized recreations of their ultrakill countrrparts, for example, i think the current final boss, great dracobloxxer or whatever his name was is meant to resemble the leviathan, although he looks a lot more like a metal gear ray
Hilarious because Combat Initiation wouldn't have happened without the existence of ULTRAKILL, a majority of CI's content is heavily inspired by ULTRAKILL.
in which QnA did he say that? I'm just curious and would like to know. And it would help alot if you could also put the timestamp in the video he said it thx.

the level design verticality thing makes sense, but they give you some tools to get up, such as the tubes up to the tall towers on stage 3 bouncing you up high, to pogo'ing with swords, etc. very happy that eclipse checked out this game.
Didnt expect you to review this game. I know you already said you wouldnt in one of your q&as but I like being stubborn, you should try "ultrakill", its the fps shooter that inspired this game and seeing how you liked it you will definitely enjoy ultrakill
Eclipse, "Combat Initiation" is actually inspired by Ultrakill. Go play it Eclipse, You won't escape the ultrakill fans unless you play the game. PLAY IT.
@@tabbyy_yy a lot of the aspects in the game are extremely similar to aspects in ultrakill, for example: the first boss in the game is inspired by swordsmachine, the second one is v2 or some other boss, etc... this is the same with the weapons too. the kunai knife and shuriken weapon is like the sawblade launcher, where you can quickly shoot out shurikens that bounce off of the walls. the kunai acts like the magnet and attracts the shurikens towards it. this is only some of the things that are similar, i hope this cleared everything up
here is a few things to keep in mind, Melee hits heal, dashing and then jumping lets you do a long jump letting you go super far, you can pogo using various things such as the sword or rockets after a long jump letting you cross the entire map in a few seconds, verticalality becomes easy once you realize you can pogo up walls, as the game goes on the game reveals a lot more. the progression in of itself is knowledge of how to better play the game, this is why I would recommend playing in multiplayer servers to learn from others or try to discover more things for yourself. (hope this helps you understand a few of the flaws that you pointed out) Edit: levels are mostly for more skilled players who don't want to play with newer ones, and the big part of goals in the game is getting a better rank than C and grinding out your skill to you dont die even once and maintaining your score.)
How many times did we tell you you'd love Ultrakill?! (This message should be read as a light hearted message, not a criticism) This game is heavily inspired by Ultrakill, so if you loved it, you should definitely buy Ultrakill, you'll love it. Fun fact, Potoe did make at least some of the game's musics, as you said, and they also did Hellmet's ost :D
Potoe is the music composer for Combat Initiation, he also made all of the boss themes for Hellmet's sister game Dummies vs Noobs, as well as some songs in Hellmet itself. So I'd listen to those too since according to yourself, you're passionate about sound design.

For anyone wondering who I'm talking about, eclipse made a vid on world of stands a bit ago, he made a comment on the fact that being able to parry bullets is cool, someone else made a comment saying something along the lines of "this is why eclipse should play ultrakill" and someone else replied that he wouldn't like it. Edit:(then it somehow spiraled into an argument over ultrakill being boring XD UA-cam do be wild).
Hey Eclipse. This game is great, but if you ever play it again after an update, just know that if you dash and then jump really fast, you fly at mack fucking ten, which is a mechanic based off Ultrakill, also if you get the shotgun kind of upgrade for the paintball gun, you can parry your own bullets and turn them explosive, which is also based off Ultrakill.
I recommend trying Decaying Winter. It's a loot and shoot wave survival in 1st person perspective with 2 different endings. You lose if all team members die during one of phases. It's really difficult yet really rewarding when you learn.

I have no idea if this has something to do with my connection or location at this point, but going on long play sessions in any ROBLOX game inevitably leads to a disconnect for whatever reason. *This is never an issue on every online game I got currently installed on my PC.* This means as promising as this game sounds, I can't actually go into it because I am at the mercy of ROBLOX's servers. It took you 78 minutes on your first attempt, which in the past has been enough time for ROBLOX to tell me "TIME'S UP!" and destroy my progress in some games. I think I could probably speedrun it with 5 other people in order to avoid this, but obviously as a new player I wouldn't get nearly as much as a good first impression from getting hard-carried like that. Definitely look forward to playing it soon, but I legitimately can't be the only one who is off-put from playing it right now due to this issue.
It's been a long time since i didn't watch your videos Eclipse, but you're still here on UA-cam to see how Roblox games are with humor and etc., anyway thank you for showing me everything on Yba before, because this is how i discovered your channel and I like it, so i know you for 3 years ands maybe more now, so yeah, thank you Eclipse, continue all your great work on UA-cam man.
I played Combat initiation when it started getting popular a few months ago, and then again in this content update, and i gotta say its an excellent game, and after wanting more gameplay like it i decided to buy ultrakill, I strongly suggest you try out the game. That being said, great video as always Eclipse, keep it up!
and after all they probably won't listen to what people say about progression , it's an fan game about ultrakill , and also the game is pretty new , so the leveling system might be for later , as they only recently added accessories, The difficulties might also be added in the future as it's basically an ultrakill fangame , and ultrakill has standard and sandbox mode but also 2 way easier and 2 way harder modes as of right now, the musics are also inspired by ultrakill, THE GODZILLA ROBOT has been inspired by the earthmover from ultrakill , if you haven't played ultrakill yet and like this kind of gameplay but you wish it was longer try ultrakill
Drakobloxxer seems like a mix between minos' corpse (Large, parryable attacks with a small window, colossal boss) and MG Ray (Robot with very similar attacks and design to Drako, colossal boss). Don't see how it's similar to the Earthmovers.
@@stockimagedog7382 i have not played mg and since it has a lot of references from games especially from ultrakill and all the bosses before that have attacks and mechanics from ultrakill i thought it was from ultrakill too
The glass house (snow map) has trampolines in the towers where the tank spawns tunnels leading to them allowing cover from snipers, also you can doge snipers (mark) bullets if you shift at the right time. The game is very good if you look around enough, also hats give special chances for more strategic fighting.
the sword is actually insanely versatile, it can sword pogo which carries momentum, allowing you to fly across the map at mach speeds, the parrying mechanic superboosts projectiles, allowing you to redirect them at your cursor for MASSIVE damage, and best of all the weak spot on the tanks takes like quadrupled damage from swords
I love the weapon synergies in this game, the fact that you can basically your own loadout with a lot of possibilities makes it fun, one that i recently tried out and enjoyed was frost gun, flamethrower and the mine/rocket launcher, its a lot of fun and it its great at cc and aoe .
I played this with 3 of my friends, one of them did play it with me when the 3rd stage was the last one, and the other 2 are not a big fun of this kind of games, and we all STILL had a blast, using the grapling hook to melee the giant dragon robot while my friends dealt with the drones it spawns, while also parrying the missiles back at the giant beast while it disabled my hook, its a thrill you hardly get in other games at least at this level. Glad you played it. Even if it doesn't change much for me, im still glad you enjoyed it.
Hey eclipse! Looking at this video and when you were talking about snipers, it reminded me of another game called 'Dummies vs noobs'. Not sure if you have tried it (I'm a bit lazy to check) but playing the game was a very fun experience for me. Just a recommendation for you to try when you're bored!
Thank you for finally playing my favourite game! Theres a lot more complex techniques like nuclear reactions and slam dunk if you needed to know. This was my go to game in roblox and seeing you love it, It makes me happy. Love what you do eclipse.
Now that Combat Initiation has got a new update, I HEAVILY request you go and play with modifiers and the new collab campaign It would be pure peak after all
even if you have ultrakill this is still a good game worth playing. its like saying if you enjoy an artist and want more, you can listen to a different artist that has its own content with similarity to the artist you enjoy.
I was one of the earliest players who played the game at february and i'm proud that the game gets a lot of recognition of the 2.0.0 update because it is a MASSIVE update and i remember that it took 3-4 months to update the game which is 2.0.0 (excluding the april fools).
I'd say the main reason no one noticed is because of jet boots, which can carry momentum, which lets you get to a cannon on a tower in less then 5 seconds, its just kinda one of the gears you always want to take for the sheer convenience of jet boots, allowing you to fly around both horizontally and vertically immensely fast
The sword is one of the BEST weapons in the game Between the fact that you can parry (almost) EVERYTHING and that you can use it as a combo with other weapons to even deal more damage it makes it a must have
eclipse, i know everyone else has already commented on this but this game is massively inspired by ultrakill just with a roguelike twist. The dash system is identical, stamina and all. The style meter is inspired from ultrakill (even though it originated from devil may cry which ultrakill is inspired off of), the sword is the default punch from ultrakill with the satisfying projectile parry and all. Enemies all take inspiration from the masterful enemies of ultrakill, the basic enemies that run at you are based on husks, the giants are based on cerberus, the tanks are based on hideous mass, the flying heads are based on drones, snipers are straight up just sentry turrets and the police enemies are inspired by soldier enemy. The weapons take massive inspiration from the game, especially the concept of weapon synergy which is ultrakill's main fun gimmick. The example you said of the blackhole kunai attracting rockets sound just like how in ultrakill the nailgun can fire a magnet attack with its secondary fire which the rocket launcher can be attracted to. The bosses are also heavily inspired by ultrakill with jason being swordsmachine, the pirate guy being v2 and vagabond being gabriel respectively. If you ever play the game, please make a series on it like how you did metal gear rising or subnautica, the game is straight up awesome. Play ultrakill. Other than that also you should play brickbattler, a game on roblox inspired by ultrakill and devil may cry combined, its really good (and hard).
Game is great, and it gets greatly more challenging as you progress, having allies and possibly friends also increase the experience of the game, I don’t know what has changed since I’ve last played but the little time I played was very fun, I hope the game gets more support as it has plenty of potential.
For glass houses you can use dash jump that makes go really fast and if you have rocket boots paired with it you can traverse the entire map in seconds, if not the same dash jump is good enough for mobility. Love your content keep up the great work.
What you can do in this game is honestly awesome. The movement can be amazing with certain items. With the sword you can dash and jump then slashing the ground with a sword to pretty much bunny hop across the map
Yooo I absolutely love this game too!!!! I definitely recommend revisiting this game soon because theres lots of hidden techs with combinations of weapons like hitting the trowel wall with superball auto targets the superball to enemies. I do understand the weakness of the sword but mention the pogoing tech with the sword and the mobility of it!!!! Truly love this game and your content you a real one
eclipse if you actually enjoyed this, then you ABSOLUTALLY should play ultrakill. It is the game that inspired combat initiation and is something very special. It is in early access and is very fun just like combat innitiation!
The next update they're working on is adding modifiers for lobbies that can make it harder or easier. So give it a couple months and the lack of a lower/higher difficulty will be addressed.
I felt it when Eclipse talked about the longevity of Combat Iniciation and comparing it to Hours, because those are two of my top 5 favorite experiences on Roblox.
Hey Eclipse, the combat initiation video was good myself has played and loved the game but some problems with that video in my opinion are the sword nitpick and level nitpick 1. The sword nitpick is mostly untrue sword is not only good for mobility but for bosses take Jason he has a lot of attacks that you can parry which deal a ton of damage but also restore you health and sword can be used for mobility for "Pogoing" and scaling walls. (This part is mostly opinion based) but saying the glass houses are weird map is strange the map has cover (houses, tunnles, behind the hills) I get how there isnt very much cover but there still is some and the cannons on the top of the towers can be scaled if you used (jet boots, sword, grapple hook, ect.) Other than that I agree with your video and I think its a really good video!
about the difficulty: the next update is about modifiers, which will change your run by making it harder in some way (or perhaps easier?) with the effect of more/less points/xp
The levelling in this game is more of a indicator of how long you played the game instead of how many features you can access. This isn't the only game to have a levelling like that too. Decaying Winter also had a levelling system where getting to level 10 (or 5? I forgot the requirement for unlocking perks) was the only level where you actually get access to features that impacts your gameplay as it allows you to use perks. Getting to level 10 is very easy. Levelling up anywhere beyond that will simply allow you to buy cosmetics. I like this levelling system as players "level up" by gaining more knowledge, getting more better, and learning certain tech that isn't locked by a harsh level requirement instead of simply grinding the game until you get better gear. This means that players rely more on skill instead of power.
The reason on why there isnt any other gamemodes is because the game has only had one update and they plan to finish the first gamemode before doing other things
Yeah, Potoe made *most* of the OST in Combat Initiation. The only exceptions are "I'm Being Reelistic" (Captain's theme) by Omnitica, onf of the only two soundtracks that weren't made specifically for the game, the classic "8 Bit Weapon (Bitblaster Mix)" which plays while you choose your weapons which also isn't an OST, and "CASTLE CRUSHER" (King's Theme) by FPLester
Hi mate, great video, would you be willing to cover a game called Fantastic frontier? Its on the less popular side (barely getting 100 active players atm) but its a game with lots of love and care put into it, and has a loyal community. Keep up the good work!
As someone who has been playing this game for over a year, I am SOOO happy you finally covered this one!!! And every single one of your criticisms coincides with my ones, so trust me, you're not alone in thinking the progression and other things fall short. Also you played at exactly THE RIGHT timing because last week a mega update dropped where your favorite stage ( rocket arena) was released. The game used to be worse back then, but it's a game in development and that's to be expected. All we can do is wait and thank the devs for like, everything. Also potoe indeed did create the ost, but someone named FPLester appeared as a cameo artist and made what is currently my favorite theme i the game, king's theme. (castle crusher)
60 other people have probably said this already, but you should 100% play ultrakill since it's combat initiation's inspiration and has basically every aspect of this game you loved, just amplified a lot with probably the 2nd greatest video game soundtrack (below terraria calamity mod) and one of the best stories in a game.
the sword is actually one of the most important weapons in the game, parrying gives you so much health and is often the best way to deal with certain enemies, slingshot and flamethrower's alt abilities straight up dont work without it, and it has a shit ton of synergies as well.
as u said the sword is better as a secondary weapon. It has a lot of synergies, so its very versatile. If you are in the air you can also climb walls, and combo enemies with the sword by just aiming at them.
Thank you Eclipse for Initiating Combat, this has truly been a life changing video experience and you have brought to the table, this combat initiation has given me a new insight on life.
Hey Eclipse, just wanted to say that a lot of this game's mechanics (I.E. the parry system and the movement system, and a few of the enemy types) are inspired by ULTRAKILL, and indie that's about $25 on steam, though the game is still in early access, with it's main gamemode, the story being a little over 2/3 of the way done (3 acts, 2 of which are done) It's an amazing game, and I highly recommend it if you enjoyed this one!
I wasn't that interested in this game at first because I don't like roguelikes. But now seeing that it's basically Ultrakill meets classic Roblox, I might give it a try. Thanks for the recommendation
the more impactful hats do unlock later, with harder challenges. some eeven buff specific gears your point is still completely valid, though, some of them do take quite a while
7:40 Actually there is a trampoline that launches you right on top of the tower next to it that looks like another tower. You looked directly at it at 7:34.
theres an x on the back of the cannon that you can attack and it deals 3x damage to the cannon, also i reccomend using mroe the sword and its variants, has those parry REALLY good
7:08 actually, that’s what the glass tube on the side of the building is for, as it launches you up to the roof of the tower, the stairs are just there so that you can’t cheese the level
Hey eclipse, the part where you are talking about the tank spawning on a tower is actually really easy to deal with, so let me tell you some counters that make you life easier - 1 : If you noticed the tube, you can actually walk into it and theres an elevator, the elevator will teleport you up the tower, which makes climing up much easier (the tube is where you mentioned the pit area) [i am also not sure if this is true, but its from what i remember] - 2 : If you decide not to do that, you can dash behind the tank and shoot its weak point with a rocket launcher, which might not some viable at first since it flings you, but it deals TONS of dammage (1 shots if you didnt upgrade to bazooka) Also, For the Music, Potoe is the main Producer, And We've seen a little bit of FPLester's work, as he created the King's Theme ! (Wave 35) Potoe Has Created : The Crossroads Theme, Jason's Theme, Chaos Canyon Theme, Glass Houses Theme, Vagabond's Theme, Rocket Arena's Theme (31-35, 36-40) And The Drakobloxxer's Theme.
Speaking of game reviews, can you go over the game unusual force 4, it’s a fighting game based off of yakuza. Hope you see this message, and keep doing what you’re doing!
After playing ultrakill and then playing this, I made it my goal to play this game like ultrakill (use accessory for no passive regen, only use the sword f ability, and only weapons that are ranged)
6:49 There are several ways to counter this: Some weapons can be actually used to move around quickly, for example the sword and superball Those two allow you to do a "Pogo" Wich basically lets you stay in the air after performing a dash jump A dash jump is performed by jumping after a dash, It sends you FLYING The other way would be either using the grappler (Allows you to grapple onto enemies and yellow points on the maps) Or to use jet boots after doing a pogo/dash jump there are more ways to go into the air, but thats up to you to figure out :)
as a tip with the sword, you can use sword pogos to preserve your forward momentum which means it pairs extremely well with other mobility items like jet boots or just dash jumps, since you can pretty much cross the entire map in seconds with it
Mr eclipse thank you for playing “Ultrakill” it means a lot. It was a disappointment to see you belittle my beloved sword but I understand, your play style would never see the full potential of it. Thank you for this amazing video
There are ways to make the 3rd map easier with certain movement abilities, if you dash and jump nearly at the same time it uses 2 stamina and absolutely launches you combine this with a rocket jump when you're about to hit the ground will let you quickly close the distance between sides of the map, also you can just stand on top of the tanks and shoot their weakspot
I love this game because of how free you are to move, you can pogo jump with swords, with balls, with sligshots, with rocket launcher, you can combo different movementations tactics to become a helicopter, it's just sooooo good.
In the shuriken+witch brew+bazooka combination he mentioned, bazooka can be replaced by subspace tripmine but its require better aim(subspace do more dmg tho) A tip for sniper, you can parry their bullet, yes, you can
The sword isn't so much as a secondary as a tech in and of itself. You can Pogo and parry , which has many things to do with other weapons. For example, notice how parrying makes a projectile explosive? There's a trick that allows you to parry your "Scatterblaster" bullets in order to make them explosive and deal way for damage simply for having the sword equipped. Pogoing allows for greater mobility along with dash jumping, which allows you to go really fast for really long amounts of times, really you were correct, but its really for adrenaline junkies and Witches' brew addicts.
That game is really fun i love its most recent update because it adds a reason for players to return to the game with accessories so imo the update was worth it
hey Eclipse, I think one thing you heavily missed in this game are the movement mechanics. Looking off of your gameplay, I don't think you're aware of shift jumping, which is when you press shift and space at the same time and it causes a long jump that uses two stamina bars, which makes it way easier to deal with and get to those towers with the canons you were talking about. Another movement mechanic you missed (which I don't blame you for missing) is pogoing. If you long jump with your sword out, and stab the ground right as you're about to land, you do a pogo jump, which you can continue to do until you inevitably miss the timing. You can pogo with other weapons too such as the superball, where pogoing is where more straight forward than the sword, in which you long jump and throw the ball at the ground, giving you and extra jump. You can also pogo with the slingshot, but that's a little more complicated than the others I just mentioned. I suggest trying this out yourself in the sandbox mode, or just looking at pogo tutorials, it genuinely blew my mind when I learned this.
10:27 a budget system was implemented so that you can equip multiple weaker accessories/modifiers (50 regen, +20% sword swing rate, +20% sword range, +10% base cooldown etc etc…) or a single one that is very powerful (+take 50% less damage while your hp is under half and all attacks that would insta kill have their damage capped to 50)
Hey eclipse, quick tip for subsequent runs; if you jump right after a dash you can perform a sort of super dash that takes more stamina, but lets you travel twice as fast. On top of this, after using one of these you can go into first person and throw either a superball below you (to bounce off of it) or hit the floor with your sword to jump higher and conserve your momentum. No clue why the game never tells you this although it’s an intended feature, but oh boy, as someone who uses it all the time was it a pain to watch you move so slowly. Also play ULTRAKILL, I know that you probably won’t but it plays a LOT like combat initiation, and well… the game’s simply a masterpiece.
With the newest update, pogoing became something that is learned through the in-game guide, dunno about the superball mechanic, but it's still pretty easy to learn
in my opinion, the 3rd stage's verticality is it's strong point, IF you understand the games movement mechanics. if you build your loadout around these movement mechanics, flying around the map at mach one is the most fun I've had on Roblox. although I believe that the tutorials weren't added yet when you made this video, so you wouldntve know about sword pogoing and other amazing tools like it, so I don't blame you
i personally get bored very fast from these wave types of games, but if there was some unique interractions or anythink unique to do mid waves, it would improve the gameplay better and it might make it more fun.
about the "tweakability" of the gameplay you mentioned in the difficulty section the next update will add modifiers that should change up difficulty and gameplay a bit i doubt more difficulties will be included in the update but i agree that it would add more for experienced players and give less experienced players a chance to play the game
umbrella + flamethrower works as a jetpack, try it out. and also, if you use flamethrower enough and kill a bunch of enemies at once, you get a hat which makes the flamethrower even better

(I saw my friend use this in our duo run, and it killed damn near everything.)
Oh!
SWORD IS ONE OF THE BEST ITEMS IS THIS GUY FUCKING ACOUSTIC????
@@TheBESTRamenOfAllTime I mean it's very good but that doesnt entirely mean its the best. Every weapon can be good on their own way. But in all seriousness though, sword very good weapon.
@@matthewthepro5733 ONE of the best. Not the best, but one of them.
pogoing tldr: PARRY THE GROUND
This game is basically a cool spin on ultrakill, where as there you mostly have weapons with variations, in CI you get to have 3 or 4 weapons by the end of stage 4 (latest stage at the time of writing) and instead or getting variations, you upgrade your existing weapon. The upgrades are usually either a buffed version of the existing weapon (katana, cannonball, multi rocket launcher) or a new gimmick (for example, firebrand has slower speed, sets on fire, fire blast attack)
There's a good reason like every comment is comparing it to ultrakill, as a lot of the weapons, techs, enemies and bosses are basically stylized recreations of their ultrakill countrrparts, for example, i think the current final boss, great dracobloxxer or whatever his name was is meant to resemble the leviathan, although he looks a lot more like a metal gear ray
It's definitely more of a metal gear, you can even parry the blade!

Most definitely.
Think of Combat Initiation as ULTRAKILL's small brother. If you like CI, you will love ULTRAKILL infinitely more.
you said "fps shooter" (first person shooter shooter).

this is barely like ultrakill fym???
The more you people say to play Ultrakill in the comments, the less I desire too.
(hope this helps you understand a few of the flaws that you pointed out)
Edit: levels are mostly for more skilled players who don't want to play with newer ones, and the big part of goals in the game is getting a better rank than C and grinding out your skill to you dont die even once and maintaining your score.)

This game is heavily inspired by Ultrakill, so if you loved it, you should definitely buy Ultrakill, you'll love it.

Bosses and mini bosses (most of them) from ULTRAKILL. Thanks for showing me this game!

Definitely inspired by ultrakill, though. No doubt about that.
i LOVE combat initiation, being well made and fun with good mechanics, and being based off of my favorite game (ultrakill)
The glass house (snow map) has trampolines in the towers where the tank spawns tunnels leading to them allowing cover from snipers, also you can doge snipers (mark) bullets if you shift at the right time. The game is very good if you look around enough, also hats give special chances for more strategic fighting.
6:57 there is a trampoline in the blue tower next to the building that lets you get on top pretty quickly
my exact thoughts bro
And also there's LOTS of movements that will help. I don't think there's any flaws with the gameplay
the sword is actually insanely versatile, it can sword pogo which carries momentum, allowing you to fly across the map at mach speeds, the parrying mechanic superboosts projectiles, allowing you to redirect them at your cursor for MASSIVE damage, and best of all the weak spot on the tanks takes like quadrupled damage from swords
The timing...
I just started playing and learning this game and then this video cones out
I love the weapon synergies in this game, the fact that you can basically your own loadout with a lot of possibilities makes it fun, one that i recently tried out and enjoyed was frost gun, flamethrower and the mine/rocket launcher, its a lot of fun and it its great at cc and aoe .
I was excited for this review, W vid
I played this with 3 of my friends, one of them did play it with me when the 3rd stage was the last one, and the other 2 are not a big fun of this kind of games, and we all STILL had a blast, using the grapling hook to melee the giant dragon robot while my friends dealt with the drones it spawns, while also parrying the missiles back at the giant beast while it disabled my hook, its a thrill you hardly get in other games at least at this level.
Glad you played it. Even if it doesn't change much for me, im still glad you enjoyed it.

even if you have ultrakill this is still a good game worth playing. its like saying if you enjoy an artist and want more, you can listen to a different artist that has its own content with similarity to the artist you enjoy.
ultrakill is my favorite game ever but trust me on this you should still play it, it's a bit like cybergrind but if it was a roguelike and had bosses
I was one of the earliest players who played the game at february and i'm proud that the game gets a lot of recognition of the 2.0.0 update because it is a MASSIVE update and i remember that it took 3-4 months to update the game which is 2.0.0 (excluding the april fools).
I'd say the main reason no one noticed is because of jet boots, which can carry momentum, which lets you get to a cannon on a tower in less then 5 seconds, its just kinda one of the gears you always want to take for the sheer convenience of jet boots, allowing you to fly around both horizontally and vertically immensely fast
grapple hook also works since u can hook to the cannons
@@mano__diep1318 yeah
Also you can basically fly with umbrella/flamethrower combo
The sword is one of the BEST weapons in the game
Between the fact that you can parry (almost) EVERYTHING and that you can use it as a combo with other weapons to even deal more damage it makes it a must have
eclipse, i know everyone else has already commented on this but this game is massively inspired by ultrakill just with a roguelike twist.
Game is great, and it gets greatly more challenging as you progress, having allies and possibly friends also increase the experience of the game, I don’t know what has changed since I’ve last played but the little time I played was very fun, I hope the game gets more support as it has plenty of potential.
if your last play was like 3-4 days ago or more ago they added an entire new map
Movement is were the sword comes in. You can attack the ground while in first-person. If you time it, you can basically fly around.
the sword is for parrying too
For glass houses you can use dash jump that makes go really fast and if you have rocket boots paired with it you can traverse the entire map in seconds, if not the same dash jump is good enough for mobility.
The reason on why there isnt any other gamemodes is because the game has only had one update and they plan to finish the first gamemode before doing other things
this my current fav game on roblox and i am so glad you liked it
Yeah, Potoe made *most* of the OST in Combat Initiation.
1:48 Roguelike/roguelites has an RNG element to them that makes every run different in some way, so ig the gears are the randok element here
the more impactful hats do unlock later, with harder challenges. some eeven buff specific gears
your point is still completely valid, though, some of them do take quite a while
7:40 Actually there is a trampoline that launches you right on top of the tower next to it that looks like another tower. You looked directly at it at 7:34.
theres an x on the back of the cannon that you can attack and it deals 3x damage to the cannon, also i reccomend using mroe the sword and its variants, has those parry REALLY good
Finally a game that eclipse really enjoyed and i do hope underrated games will soon be recognised
7:08 actually, that’s what the glass tube on the side of the building is for, as it launches you up to the roof of the tower, the stairs are just there so that you can’t cheese the level
Hey eclipse, the part where you are talking about the tank spawning on a tower is actually really easy to deal with, so let me tell you some counters that make you life easier
- 1 : If you noticed the tube, you can actually walk into it and theres an elevator, the elevator will teleport you up the tower, which makes climing up much easier (the tube is where you mentioned the pit area)
[i am also not sure if this is true, but its from what i remember]
- 2 : If you decide not to do that, you can dash behind the tank and shoot its weak point with a rocket launcher, which might not some viable at first since it flings you, but it deals TONS of dammage (1 shots if you didnt upgrade to bazooka)
Also, For the Music, Potoe is the main Producer, And We've seen a little bit of FPLester's work, as he created the King's Theme ! (Wave 35)
Potoe Has Created : The Crossroads Theme, Jason's Theme, Chaos Canyon Theme, Glass Houses Theme, Vagabond's Theme, Rocket Arena's Theme (31-35, 36-40) And The Drakobloxxer's Theme.
The leveling system lets you filter out good players from newbies when making multiplayer servers. Hopefully it has some other use later on.
6:49
There are several ways to counter this:
Some weapons can be actually used to move around quickly, for example the sword and superball
Those two allow you to do a "Pogo" Wich basically lets you stay in the air after performing a dash jump
A dash jump is performed by jumping after a dash, It sends you FLYING
The other way would be either using the grappler (Allows you to grapple onto enemies and yellow points on the maps) Or to use jet boots after doing a pogo/dash jump
there are more ways to go into the air, but thats up to you to figure out :)
as a tip with the sword, you can use sword pogos to preserve your forward momentum which means it pairs extremely well with other mobility items like jet boots or just dash jumps, since you can pretty much cross the entire map in seconds with it
I've been so excited for Eclipse to review this, especially after update 2.0!
Mr eclipse thank you for playing “Ultrakill” it means a lot.
It was a disappointment to see you belittle my beloved sword but I understand, your play style would never see the full potential of it.
Thank you for this amazing video
I'm happy to see you covering this game. Also I did not know they added a level 4
same lmao
There are ways to make the 3rd map easier with certain movement abilities, if you dash and jump nearly at the same time it uses 2 stamina and absolutely launches you combine this with a rocket jump when you're about to hit the ground will let you quickly close the distance between sides of the map, also you can just stand on top of the tanks and shoot their weakspot
I love this game because of how free you are to move, you can pogo jump with swords, with balls, with sligshots, with rocket launcher, you can combo different movementations tactics to become a helicopter, it's just sooooo good.
In the shuriken+witch brew+bazooka combination he mentioned, bazooka can be replaced by subspace tripmine but its require better aim(subspace do more dmg tho)
A tip for sniper, you can parry their bullet, yes, you can
The sword isn't so much as a secondary as a tech in and of itself.
-openned the video
-"go play the game"
-had a fucking blast playing it with some friends
-came back to watch the rest of the video
With the newest update, pogoing became something that is learned through the in-game guide, dunno about the superball mechanic, but it's still pretty easy to learn
in my opinion, the 3rd stage's verticality is it's strong point, IF you understand the games movement mechanics. if you build your loadout around these movement mechanics, flying around the map at mach one is the most fun I've had on Roblox.
although I believe that the tutorials weren't added yet when you made this video, so you wouldntve know about sword pogoing and other amazing tools like it, so I don't blame you
i personally get bored very fast from these wave types of games, but if there was some unique interractions or anythink unique to do mid waves, it would improve the gameplay better and it might make it more fun.
about the "tweakability" of the gameplay you mentioned in the difficulty section
the next update will add modifiers that should change up difficulty and gameplay a bit
i doubt more difficulties will be included in the update but i agree that it would add more for experienced players and give less experienced players a chance to play the game
umbrella + flamethrower works as a jetpack, try it out. and also, if you use flamethrower enough and kill a bunch of enemies at once, you get a hat which makes the flamethrower even better
I find it funny how the thumbnail gives me the feeling that you had to put your thumbs up so you dont get a Guts & Blackpowder situation again
