Location
1. Qumran is located on the northwest side of the Dead Sea on Hwy. 90 about 13 miles (21 km.) east of Jerusalem.
2. It’s in the Judean Wilderness, where it’s barren and hot.
3. It’s located 1200 feet (366 m.) below sea level.
4. Its water source comes from the Judean Mountains to the west of the community via an aqueduct.
5. There are many caves in the area.
6. At Qumran, one of the most important discoveries in the history of biblical archaeology took place in around 1947.
Historical Background
1. It’s believed that the ancient settlement of Qumran was established by a Jewish group called the Essenes.
2. They lived here from about 200 BC to around 68 AD.
3. There were around 200 people who inhabited Qumran during its history.
4. The Essenes were a Jewish sect that flourished from the 2nd century BC to the 1st century AD. They were a spiritually devoted group of folks who left Jerusalem because they believed that the priesthood had become corrupted beyond repair and separated themselves to study the Bible, copy it, and seek the Lord in the desert.
5. The Essenes existed in large numbers; thousands lived throughout Judaea. They were fewer in number than the Pharisees and Sadducees (the other two major sects at the time). The Essenes lived in various cities but congregated in communal life dedicated to voluntary poverty, daily immersion, and asceticism. They mainly lived in the surrounding caves or tents just outside the community.
6. They were a strict Torah observant, Messianic, apocalyptic, new covenant Jewish sect. They were led by a priest they called the "Teacher of Righteousness.” They were highly educated and very familiar with writing and study.
7. The Essenes most likely wrote the Dead Sea Scrolls from about 200 BC to 68 AD.
8. It's likely the Essenes stored their copied manuscripts in caves so they were protected from the elements and safe in case of war.
Historical Background of the Dead Sea Scrolls
1. Around 1947, Bedouin shepherds were tending their goats and sheep near the ancient settlement of Qumran. One of the young shepherds threw a rock into a cave and heard an echo sound. He and his friends later climbed into the cave and found a collection of large clay jars, seven of which contained leather and papyrus scrolls. The scrolls would eventually find their way into the hands of archaeologists and scientists.
2. The scrolls were discovered in eleven caves between the years of 1947 and 1956. The manuscripts are numbered according to the caves in which they were found.
3. There are around 972 manuscripts (15,000 fragments) that have been found to date. The longest is 26 feet (8 m.) long.
4. They include fragments from every book of the Old Testament except for the Book of Esther (Esther might have been lost or decomposed due to time or may have been damaged by the Bedouin shepherds).
5. The writings consist of biblical manuscripts and other religious writings that circulated during the Second Temple era (516 BC to 70 AD). About 230 of the manuscripts are referred to as biblical scrolls. However, many of the manuscripts were fragmented and had to be assembled.
6. Cave 4, which is right beside ancient Qumran, had around 75% of all the material from the Qumran caves.
7. The Isaiah Scroll, found relatively intact, is 1,000 years older than any previously known copy of Isaiah, and the other scrolls are the oldest group of Old Testament manuscripts ever found.
8. The major intact manuscripts from Caves 1 and 11 were published by the late fifties and are now housed in the Shrine of the Book Museum in Jerusalem.
9. To date, there are around 53 caves that have been discovered, many of them containing more scrolls.
10. Amazingly, the biblical manuscripts are virtually identical to the manuscripts we have today of the Old Testament part of the Bible. This proves God’s ability to preserve His word through the ages. - Авто та транспорт

I had the pleasure of visiting Qumran last November. I saw Cave No. 4 from the spot where this video was shot. It's still hard to believe I was on location at one of the most important 3:52 archeological discoveries in history - right up there with the Rosetta Stone and King Tut's tomb.

Great teaching Pastor Fink! To build on what you've brought out about how the word of God was handed down to us, reliable, prophetic and truly unequivocally God's word, was prophesied by John in the book of Revelation as yet another witness and further evidence.
Revelation 12:9-17
16 And the earth helped the woman, and the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed up the flood which the dragon cast out of his mouth.
The woman, which (some say is the church) is the lost tribes of Israel. "The earth helped the women" is the Essene's which scribed the Dead Sea scrolls for us to find in 1948 to validate and prove God's words to be true that no man can deny. This is how the earth helped the woman. The serpent is Satan and the water that he cast out of his mouth as a flood are the multitudes of and false religions to carry the woman away with these lies as a flood. Christ warns of the greatest deception in the end times, would be these false religions that bare His name in Matthew 24.

All of the laws given by God to Moses were written in the Pentatuch, otherwise known as the Torah. The other parts of the Hebrew Bible contain prophecy and wisdom writings. The question is a non-sequiteur. Your information is born of rumor and false teachings. The Council of Nicea which Constantine assembled didn't decide on the Canon of scripture. That was another council altogether. The Council of Nicea was about Arius and his heresy. There was division in the church over this issue and Constantine brought the bishops together in hope of bringing about a compromise and peace. Instead Arius was condemned and ex-communicated. Not only was Constantine not happy with this outcome but he became an Arian due to his mothers influence.

The story of the Bible is about God and the redemption of mankind. Its not about life on other planets. It could simply be that the vast distances between planets and galaxies make it impractical to visit anywhere else and so we won't ever meet alien life. It could also be that we are the first. If life abounds in the universe then it happened somewhere first. It could have been here and so there was nothing to say about alien beings.

I believe John wrote revelation before 70 A.D. he said nothing about Paul. He said nothing about the Temple being destroyed! I think yall got this part wrong!

How do we know the scrolls are before Jesus's time?
Probably from the pottery. Pottery is a field in itself and over the millennia the ways in which pottery was made and designed is so well known they can date layers by the pottery alone. There are often other things that can come into play. They can sometime carbon date material. They can study the linguistics because that changes over time and they can use foreign sources of reference, such as texts or coins.

I dont understand how we can have free will, yet God knows the future. That can only mean that the future destiny is set and fixed. That must mean that God knew Adam and Eve would fall and Jesus would be killed. The old testament says God regretted making man during Noah.

I've never really understood this argument. The knowledge of a future event is not just that. Its the knowledge of every event and decision leading to that outcome. This is simple knowledge like watching a movie. All the choice is still preserved. Each minor decision is personal.
Now that doesn't mean that God doesn't at times intervene. I see it this way. We have children and they have free will. Leave them to themselves and they will do was they wish to do within their own capabilities. Occasionally, and for their own good, or because of our own will we prevent them from doing what they want to do. We interfere with their free will to fulfill our free will. I believe that God does that from time to time because His ultimate will and plan will come to pass, but the intervention of God into the lives of His creatures, when necessary, isn't the same thing as there being no free will at all.

There are known errors in the KJV. Your theory, as much as you might want to believe it doesn't hold up under scrutiny because the King James had to use older manuscripts in its translation. Here that logically. It didn't rely on just one manuscript or the original. It used multiple manuscripts. What that means is that there couldn't have been in the world's possession a perfect translation like the King James. The world would not have had a preserved Bible for 1000 years or more.
@@blusheep2 true and the manuscripts and scrolls were written at the time by scribes and scholars to preserve the word. When written, over 50? of the best scholars from all walks of life translated each verse and agreed on translation prior to it being accepted. The 1611 KJV has been altered by so many different religions and cults, to suit their doctrines. I am simply saying 1611 KJV has proof it is God's unaltered word. @@Johnorekunow272 The number of scholars doesn't really tell us anything. Our modern translations also have committees of scholars and these scholars have access to manuscripts that are much older then the ones available to the KJV scholars.
Don't get me wrong. The KJV is a beautiful and trustworthy Bible but to claim that it is the only preserved word of God is going to far and demonstrably false. It is imperfect even if its trustworthy.

@@statutesofthelord King James ordered the new bible be written from the scrolls and writings to stop the arguments about which Bible was to be used. There were similarities in the KJV because most bible are based on the scriptures but the KJV was not sourced from the other Bible's.
