These old school demon effects were incredible, especially given their limitations
For sure. #3&4 were straight garbage effects though
There's almost hardly any limitations to pratical effects they look better and flow better than CGI which is more expensive but takes less time the only down side to pratical effects.... that's why the best horror movies are from the mid 60's to very early 2000's it almost breaks my heart they don't use pratical effects anymore it's cheaper and looks way better.
@@truthspitter8156 Sadly practical effects have become more expensive now because chasing after CGI has resulted in a whole lotta mid-tier studios getting lavished with funds while practical effects studios fall on the wayside and need more money to cover their operation costs. Supply and demand and all that.
So much more realistic than CGI. It's not even close.

The Wishmaster could easily get a job in NYC as a social worker.

Isn't this one of those paradox's where if he was never born, he could never have made the wish to never be born?
It is best not to analyse this movie.
This is exactly how the first movie ended: in the first movie, one of the wishes was for a "the drunk worker who caused the accident that broke the djinn out of his prison to NOT BE DRUNK." That single change caused the statue to not be broken and the Djinn to not be free.
Imagine if someone had said: "I wish the person who brought you to this world didn't bring you to this world."
It would have undone the whole trilogy.
@@julianmarco4185 The difference is the first movie she wished the guy never drank on the job. So he never slipped up. This guy wished he was never born. The Djinn twisted it his own way and just reverse aged him right then and there until he was gone. He will just be a missing person case now. So from the wishers perspective he was never born. But for everyone else hes just missing.
@@valaxius The writers would say that you interpreted that right but that was not the wish... so I guess it somehow makes sense. But then again the djinn could have made a different set of circumstance to happen in the first movie...
Also, if he was never born, his soul probably wouldn't exist for the jinn to collect either.

If Eric wished he'd never been born wouldn't it automatically undo all the robbery events?
also this creates a paradox, if he was never born he would not be there to make a wish.

There are certain things even the Djin can not grant. You can't ask for more wishes, you can't force someone else to love you and you can't wish for the Djin to die, or actually get harmed in any way.

no, because if it is biblically accurate djinn, or from Islamic perspective. The soul is already there, the body is born on earth and soul is put in it. Hence, the djinn still got his soul.
Wishing never been born? That's a stupidest wish he made which he accidentally kill himself. He could've wish to heal his wounds.

I just happened to be flipping through cable TV when I accidentally saw this as a kid. And man, it screwed me up! And I had no idea what I was looking at! Freaking terrifying! Now, it looks cheesy, but still a little chilling

Everyone should have wished for the djinn to have never been brought to this planet and it would have undone everything.

@@matthewschwartz6607 Well that is almost exactly how he is defeated: by changing an event in the past that caused his awakening. Kind of a strange coincidence that the djin can interpret the wish however he likes to cause pain and horror but with wishes done on himself, he interprets them just right.
Imagine if the djin actually fulfilled wishes as people wanted, he could gather those souls in less than a day even start world wars because of him.
