He just used what he has heard in music/movies when they say ''ay my nigga'' as opposed to calling you the word in a harsh way. Saying ''that's soo derogatory, while being in a 2nd world country with rather poor education'' is a pretty ignorant take. Also, in places like this, there has been no black immigration or tourism. Most people go their whole lives seeing a black person only a handful of times, so when they do, it's more about curiosity than anything else.
