This is a How To video on repairing your torn RV or Travel Trailer Awning. I used the Quick Roof Extreme steel lock adhesive tape to fix a 6" rip in my awning. This is a must buy to keep stored in your RV/Travel Trailer just in case.
Hi I just wanted to suggest extending your awing. When you have a tear at the end of an awning, get a needle and thread and stitch the tear back together. It just takes a minute and you won't have to fight with it to stay together. And you won't have a gap under the tape.
Jo Palmer, thank you for watching my vid and I do appreciate your feedback. I did think of this at the time but when i looked further into the sewing portion; I realized that the area closest to the RV did not have enough "bite" or room for stitching. Honestly, I could have used a 2nd person but wanted to provide a solo video on a DIY vid. Thanks again for your thoughts and thanks for watching.
This a great idea for the tear fixing I am about to embark on. So glad I read your comment. Thanks
Thank you so much for posting this DIY! It is the perfect solution for repairing my awning. Now all I have to do is find a man to go up the ladder!

I want to take a moment to thank you for the consideration and time to make this video...I have some of this roof tape and now I will use it on the entire 20' ft. length of the awning that the sun is beating on and starting to fray and crack..
You are most certainly welcome. I am happy that you have come across this video/channel and glad this has helped with your RV. This works great even when applying to a wet surface. This has allowed me to even fix a crack in my bathtub thats still holding to this day. I've also fixed a couple friends awnings as well. Thanks again for watching.
Thanks, I have a 3" tear in same spot as yours. Had hoped for a vid of using this tape with success. !! Ordering Tape today!
Looking at the repair area I think it would be great to just "re-inforce" my corners right now before the rip even happens. We all know it is going to happen eventually so putting a short 4 to 6" section of that on each end seems to me like good preventative IMO. Thanks for posting that video. I have a rip or 2 on my slide-out covers that will be getting treated like that this week.
I’m glad this vid helped in some way! Please support my channel by subscribing and clicking the Bell.

Going to try hit. Thank you for making this video.
Would be nice to hear from this guy a month or two later. My experience with awning tape says it doesn't hold up for more than a few days. Mine was not the same product that he used but two weeks is not a fix
Tape is still holding up to this day. Highly recommend this product.
@@OperationRV awesome I'm just about to do this but mine just older and starting to rip. I love this tape fixed my cab RV window leak.
What did you use to properly clean and prepare the awning for good adhesion for the tape?
Thank you...
Mild soap and water but make sure it’s dry for best adhesion even though you can still apply when wet.
did you get the 4" width or the 6"width. Thank you for sharing this.
4". Thanks for watching.
Thank you. nice video.
Thanks.
Still holding up? I just ordered black for my awning, I was thinking of applying it to the underside along the entire length. I have a significant separation (4 feet) that I just glue bonded together but want to use this for reinforcement since I don't trust the glue to hold.
Still holding strong! This is great stuff and sure you will definitely like it.
I’d agree to adding it underneath giving it Extra dexterity since this area receives a lot of stress!
What type of tape is that?
I noticed this tape is wide...is it flexible enough to roll when you roll the awning shut?
Did your repair last?
So far so good and not a single issue. No issues with rolling in the awning as well. I definitely recommend this product. Since the repair, I have left the awning out in another wind storm for about half an hour and still holding up just fine.
I want to run a wire on the top edge of my awning out to the roller for led lights. Will this tape hold down a 12 volt wire through extending and extracting the awning?
Thanks
Thanks for watching. Honesty, I don't believe you would have any issues holding the wire even with the awning going in and out. You would love this product.
thanks
You are most certainly welcome. Thanks again for watching.
It's been over 3 years, how is this patch holding up?
Thanks for watching. It's still holding up to this day. Definitely recommend.
Why didnt use black instead of white
Black attracts heat more than white. White is the most common liner made for awning so this is why I went with white.
Well, I was actually looking for something a little more aesthetically pleasing...$60,000 RV with a $5 fix doesn't make much sense. Just sayin.
You're absolutely correct! But, in a pinch away from an RV Store, this will work wonders to get it in to be repaired and not get worse on your journey in to get the expensive rig fixed.
