Beautiful looking watch! I absolutely love that they paid tribute to the 101st airborne division which happens to come from Fort Campbell in the city I live, Clarksville, TN! Also great review!
I read/watched a lot about Vince Speranza & he is a special human. One of the greatest on his generation. Paying tribute to him via the watch is something amazing.
I'd say, thread the crown, put a lumed seconds hand on it, offer a steel mesh strap for extra, and include a silicone strap instead of two leather straps, other than those small things it's a rock solid piece and even better it's almost affordable
39mm Tandorio vintage style military watch, with PT5000 for $86 on AliExpress. Sapphire, 200m WR, cathedral hands. Available with sterile dial.
I’ve owned the Tom Rice 38mm version for a couple of years now. No complaints at all!!
Is your L2L 40.1 as well? That seems freakishly short for a 38mm case. Seems to me it should be ~45mm to be somewhat complementary.
Instead of the NH-35, with its ghost date position, it really needs a hand-wind movement, for that vintage feel.
Out of extreme laziness I’d tolerate… quartz. But as there’s no day window, hand-wind would be easy to get going after a few days in the nightstand drawer.
I know what you mean, Valen! I wish that it had a hand-wind movement as well. I do actually like that it doesn’t have the screw-down crown. They got that part right.
Update: I just ordered the Swiss model on their kickstarter site. I guess I’m a sucker for these types of watches. My original A-11 isn’t working, but it looks great in the display case with my fathers unit patches and medals.
I do find it odd though, that these days, automatics in general, seem to be much more prolific (and cheaper) than hand-wind.
VH31 quartz (4 ticks per sec) are gaining momentum in the watch world, especially in vintage homage watches. They are great.
Looks like a rally strap , but is actually designed to look like a machine gun barrel . Check 1-54 mins .
I like your descriptions, because I mainly agree with you. Jordy. I have been into watches for 5 decades and got serious about 2 decades ago as a hobby. I fixed electronics in the service and appreciate the reliability of quartz. Your video about wearing quartz is what I do. in contrast I can tell you why I appreciate Timex and the value derived. Timex uses a 3 Volt battery, instead of a 1.55 volt battery. The movement has to be dramatically more robust and accounts for the reliably longer movement and battery lives. I also like the NH35 because it is so reliable and I appreciate the use of a movement that will give reliable live and service. Keep up the good work and the humor you approach this fun hobby with. ED L
I have the 42mm Swiss model on order. Can't wait.
Great looking watch!
Nice watch. I agree with you about the polished tops to the lugs, and thought the same about the crown. Would have looked better all blasted. Cheers Jory
I like the fact they also do it with a Swiss movement AND in a 42mm. I feel the NH35 has been over used in custom watches and I like the bigger size as in a samller size it would look like a mole on my bog 7 3/4inch wrist. I'm keeping thing on my Xmas Shopping list.
Superb watch review video, Jory!
Great watch , thank you for the outstanding videos
In the immortal words of AvE to his cameras, “Focus, you F***!” Sometimes the camera obeys if he says it with enough vigor.
Cheaper than the hamilton khaki! but that dual finish would drive me nuts!
This just bumped the new Timex field watch off my wishlist.
Great video
Cool watch!
Love the lume
Love it already onather great content 👌 Perfection my friend....
Nice watch. Sterile is nice.
I agree. A military field watch should be non-shiny lest the enemy sees you and shoots you. It should never be bigger than 38mm as it is designed to go under the sleeves of a field jacket or field shirt. 42mm is a dive watch not a field watch. And it does not look good with a rally strap. It's a military field watch. Not a racing chrono. A nice vintage horween leather watch strap should be fine.
The "NH..." is still better that my most hated movement: the 7S26!
Great looking watch. Where can I buy it from?
Yeah.Handsome watch.
Kind of reminds me of Ming's design language
Not a threaded crown is a huge plus not a con. Thank god!
I enjoy Your show!
Is there a hack? Meaning: does the seconds hand stop while in the setting position?
Good
Controversial statement, but I think of NH35 and Miyota AND now Epson movements as disposable. The cost of the movement, sourced online, is often less expensive than paying a watchmaker to repair...making the movement disposable. And lower-end Swiss movements are getting that way. I've got an Aevig Corvid I bought on the secondary and it is very likely that a I can source a top-grade version of the stock movement, and either pay a watchmaker for an hour of time to install it, or install it myself. And it's highly likely it will be price competitive, if not less expensive, than paying a watchmaker to fix the flaw. Part of why I got into analog watches was repairability; that's going away rapidly for movements in my price range, I think...
If the movement goes south, easy and cheap enough to drop a new one in. My experience with 2 of my Seiko’s
@@clontstable1 You are making my point...if replacement is less expensive or less difficult, the product in question is disposable.
I think it would look better if the minuet track matched the patinaed hands. I can't compare some of these field-type watches to the Seiko Alpinist. The Seiko "A" is just too good..
Yeah, the shiny lugs are like a little, um, like, please put that away, I can see your lugs.
NH-35 isn't bad for Microbrands of course depending on the price. Would be better if Miyota 9000 series. Great looking piece!
Interesting, is there a list of common movements most brands/micros use and how they stack up?
VH31 movement would suit this.
Great watch,I think this is the right recipe for microbrand companies to get exposure by throwing tribute or attaching a cause to the watch. Look at Dan Henry the reason those became popular has to do with the homages and the tribute case backs
40.1mm lug to lug? That can't be right.
Shoot, I meant 45.1 lol
@@thetimeteller That's a good size for me!
Awesome watch definitely dig the specs definitely should retire the NH series and should have gone with a mechanical movements or no date movement of quartz not taking anything away from this stunning watch honestly a great deal for $300
It looks like they sell a true vintage sized one at 32mm as well.
yes they do. I have one of that version
My apologies to you Jory. This retired Marine is not enthusiastic about this supposed vintage-looking watch. It comes close to mimicking the Waltham A11 military watch, but not quite. First, the hour hand should be a syringe style. Second, 38 mm is way too large. 33mm to 36mm maximum for case size to spark real vintage. Numerals also need to be beefier in presence. I guess I am just a stickler for paying homage to the warfighting watches from yesteryear more appropriately. Semper Fidelis!
the different tone of the lume breaks it for me. looks comical than a field watch.
Looks at modded NH35 seiko on wrist 😥 what did he just say… yeah idk why it has plastic parts
🚫 to the 👻 pull - Especially at $300.
40.1 L2L? Surprising...
I meant 45.1, lol misspoke.
No threaded crown!!! 😭😭😭
Like the aesthetic a ton too bad about the crown and 100M (would have liked to see it match a Boldr for that price)
As a huge World War II buff, I've always liked their watches, but I can't tell how authentic they are as a company. Are they truly honoring our American heroes, or are they exploiting our Veterans' names solely as a marketing strategy? That's the only thing holding me back from running out and buying one. Anyone have any thoughts?
My thoughts as well
I think they’re doing both, which is OK. These watches are Veteran approved.
@@clontstable1 it really does have the look and great dimensions. The price is a no brainer to be honest
They do honor American heroes, check out their website. They have Tom Rice A-11 edition. They recently launched D-day Marston Mat limited edition too which was something really cool. I have been following them & buying their watches since a lot time. Authentic company doing great things :)
Why do you say the NH35 is boring?
I’d love to know how you feel about wolbrook! I love the mecaquartz skindiver I have and I wonder how you feel about their stuff. They seem up your alley to critique
Here is a comment Mr Alogorithm
Huge mega super disappointed that they have two movements and still sent you the bum basic nh35, it's like they don't even watch the channel. Yeah as stated it's an amazing movements for what it does but what would it have cost them to send out the nicer Swiss movement for the reviewers?
Oris much?
cool watch but the bullet is pretty lame
they have one without bullet but I find it pretty cool.
@@henrythomas5209 looks uncomfortable
@@kyledriscollmusic I watched several Vince Speranza reviews on youtube and reviewers said they don't even feel it. There is an option to buy with plain caseback as well
Any watch made before 2011 is shit.
