A company called "American Speed Loaders" makes an awesome KelTec CMR-30 / PMR-30 loader that saves one's thumb with very little effort as it loads the magazine pointed down with a single push...great thing they're made in USA!
*30 round mags. I really want to get this combo. It is a great plinker, small game gun, decent home defense, and the perfect survival gun. You can take 2 guns, all 4 mags loaded and an extra box of 500 rounds for 10 pounds. That is the weight of a modern AR-15 with 3 mags or a shotgun with 25 rounds. I personally would get the factory 5" optional barrel with flash suppressor for the PMR-30 as this gun has a large muzzle flare. It also adds about 5% to the muzzle velocity. I wish I had the money for a gun, but they are far down my list of must haves. I'd get a KSG too if the put side loaders like a typical shotgun. You would have to have them on both sides and the would be back pretty far, but the flaps on the side loaders would switch the mags. An auto switcher would also be nice when one tube is empty. Those two changes would make it a great gun... to make it perfect would be to make it a semi-auto... :D I really like the Kel-tec designs though.
I bought my CMR-30 last summer and was surprised at how accurate it was. I was expecting it to be pretty good but this thing is actually fairly extraordinary. I shoot it with a Vortex red dot sight and I definitely could be more accurate with a small scope. I've also been very impressed with its reliability. Never a problem out of this one. It's also incredibly fun to shoot.
I love mine, it is my everyday carry due to it light weight and short length. It so easy to handle in a vehicle and tucks nicely between the seat and console. I have mine with spotlight and lazer . Recommend it for pasture tours cheching for calfs and coyotes.
MCARBO make a load assistance device, as well as an upgraded stainless steel feed ramp and a recessed magazine button so you're less likely to drop your mags accidentally.
Thanks for the loading tip. Got a couple extra mags for my PMR and with the two these come with it's nice to have six mags loaded (expensive, but nice). Great review as usual. Keep-up the great work.
If you’re one of them people who thinks 22 Mag won’t kill you. Stand 30 yards out and take one to the chest. You won’t get up lol ive seen that very round explode a white tail deers skull at roughly 50 yards. It might be “smaller” but it does a serious number on what it’s hitting.
Long as your happy...I'd love to have one, just picked up a lil Rossi RS22 22lr and been wanting a 22mag every since then...yeah there not the biggest most powerful but neither is the human body!!
Comparing it to a Ruger 10/22... Would it be a better rifle for affordability or survivability? Definitely has its perks for being small. And it's also known for being able to punch through some pretty tough stuff.
I've got one with over 500 rounds down the pipe. One of those rounds was behind a wild hogs ear. Dropped on the spot with 40 CCI fmj. Only problem has been a broken firing pin. Suspect it was from dry firing. Phone call to Kel Tec and had 2 replacements next day.
I enjoy mine, no problems, just load the magazines carefully. The iron sights are actually quite good. I have a Silencer Co Sparrow suppressor which is rated for .22 magnum.. it's not overly large or heavy.
I got my wife one for Christmas. She LOVES IT. I like playing with it to, it's shockingly light in the hand and shoots as well as my grendel at 50 yards, but starts to open up at 100 just a little (the grendel opens up at 200 due to my lack of skill).
There is a lot of ingnorance over these guns. The design goes back a long way. Kel Tec is born from the ashes of Grendel. I had a grendal p30 once. A 22 magnum, 30 rounds, fluted chamber (sound familiar?) I had to fashion my own firing pin to get it functional cause it was used and shot quite a bit. However back to topic. The only difference between the grendel and kel tec is the outer cosmetics. the pistol is the same design. the carbine is the same design. Grendel came out with its carbine called the R31back in the early 90s but it was discontinued almost as soon as it came out as the anti-assault weapon movement was getting established and the magazine bans came (correct me if I am wrong). So why Keltec took so long to develop these guns is pretty ridiculous. They already had the designs and what is even more they tried to go without fluting the chamber first, ignoring the reasoning behind the first design. So later models of the Kel tecs now incorporate the fluted chamber. This is an example of moving the landmarks that the elders put in place. Anyway just thought I would throw this out there for those who think the design is something new and 21st century example of engineering.
Not likely. The way they handle it, it is just pulled out of inventory by the shipping department. Some gun companies do cherry-pick the guns for writers, but most do not. jeff

moey nolala how many rounds have you put through it?, it takes a couple hundred rounds to break it in, but even the first mag you put through it shouldn't have that many malfunctions, it could be the ammo you are using also.
moey nolala you have to load the mags very carefully (don't start with full mags till it's all broken in), and it's ammo brand picky. always clean and lube it after use, especially when new as cheap rimfire ammo can leave brass fouling in the action. if you do all of the above and you don't have a total lemon then it should work. from everything I'm seeing, the CMR is more reliable than the pmr. But like I said it's ammo sensitive. I switched brands and my malfunctions went away.
maybe so.i have under 100rounds using winchester super x 40 grain and cci maxi mag..i do useally load 20- 25 round and while at the range I was feild striping and wiping, lubing it up after each mag thinking that the next mag should run flawless, but that wasn't the case..im going to try a few more brands of ammo and try to see if i can break it in some more...i hear that the cmr30 is more reliable but man i really like my pmr30..i wont be giving up on it and if it keeps acting up then it's going back to keltec..now i do want to say that keltec sent me a call tag to send it back but I didn't want my gun gone for 8 weeks so I figured ill try and break it in some more,if not then yes it'll be going back
The brand I had problem with was winchester. Also, if you have a family and want to visit Disney world in Florida (or universal, anywhere in Orlando), then I recommend you call and visit. Their base of operations is in Cocoa FL and it's about 1.5 hours from Orlando. Erica at the front desk is phenomenal. Sometimes they'll check out your gun in 1 day if you physically visit, no shipping, no charge, and their lobby includes an accessories shop with loads of rare items, mags, options, merchandise and display guns that they'll let you handle while you wait (even some of their prototypes, the RDB-C for instance, are available on display). They're wonderful people and if you do it on a Wednesday and call ahead they'll give you a free tour of the factory.
+moey nolala That Winchester ammo is the problem... it's just crap. Even their .22 LR ammo is bad. They recommend high velocity ammo, so that puts you with Federal/CCI/Speer, Hornady, and some Remington loads work good too. I've had some good luck with Fiocchi even when I had my PMR-30. But I often just kept to CCI/Speer/Federal as its what was available and it works just fine.

I have one, the plastic mags are trash. They begin to bow after 19 rounds and mine will not feed any type ammo properly after 20 rounds. I will try one of the loaders, wish someone made metal mags for it. The rifle is very accurate when it cycles properly.
Hey Jeff. I got one and it seems to like the 30 grain Hornady and Winchester V-max type rounds just as much as the cci 40 jhp's. Definitely not complaining. LoL
I have said this so many times before I want to love Kel-tec , innovative and American made. How does every desirable firearm they make end up 3rd market with a jacked up price or with serious design flaws { key hole at 20ft}.
MSRP is $500, so normally you would think $400-450 would be a fair price, but these are different times. $600 is about average these days - if you want one now, you'll probably have to pay that. As my brother Jeff used to say, you can never pay too much for a gun, just too soon. Boge
There's always the Kel-Tec Sub-2000. That one even folds in half. It doesn't share magazines with either of their pistols though. At least you can get versions that take the most common ones.
MP7 is 4.6mm.. you are confusing the P90/FiveSevens (FN) with the HK product. It would have made more sense for them to agree to a caliber, but they didn't.
I like this better then the Sub 2000. The Sub 2000 is a 8 moa gun. This is a 2-3 moa gun. Not much point in all that extra power if you can't hit anything with it. Out of the carbine length barrel, these rounds have the same muzzle energy as a .38 special or a hot .380 acp. Except instead of 6 or 10 shots, you get 30. Velocity matters a lot when it comes to cavitation. Here's the formula: CAV(FN) (inches) = Impact Velocity (fps) x Meplat Diameter (inches) / 225 - 0.725 Meplat being the flat nose of a pistol fmj. There is no easy formula for estimating expanding ammo performance, but soft points behave similarly. Hollow points are too design dependent to guess their performance.
Just Found one of these online for 400..think I'll order it looks like a really nice gun and in 22mag...i was hoping someone would come out with a Ruger 10/22 type rifle but in 22mag but all i ever see are bolt action so this is a must have!!
Odd....I just deleted all my history and cookies, but when I start this video it flashes 14 minutes then changes almost immediately to 7:02. Never had a problem watching UA-cam videos before. Anyone else seeing this?
same here, if i refresh/reload the page while looking at the time of the video, it first shows 14:04, then immediately changed to 7:02 and thats all it shows... wonder if it has something to do with the new YT stuff happening, adverts dropping, people not getting paid etc...
I will say this about my experience with kel tec. I have owned 3 of their pistols. Only one worked out of the box. The other 2 went back to k/t, and they fixed both while I waited. Had they test fired both, they would have had problems immediately. I just don't trust them.

I like the CMR .22 WMR. It's pretty compact. Bullet strength Enough to shoot the armor or stop the boar.

Or 5.7x28mm so it's like a MP7
Here's the formula:
CAV(FN) (inches) = Impact Velocity (fps) x Meplat Diameter (inches) / 225 - 0.725
Meplat being the flat nose of a pistol fmj. There is no easy formula for estimating expanding ammo performance, but soft points behave similarly. Hollow points are too design dependent to guess their performance.
Great firearm. Good review.
Great video. Good job.
Why people act like 22 mag won't kill you it will especially 30 rounds of it
Wish I could find one, I've been actively looking for one For two years!! Not overpriced, like on certain sites, but I'll pay full MSRP!
Wayne L. Cass tacswap right now if you’re still looking
Just Found one of these online for 400..think I'll order it looks like a really nice gun and in 22mag...i was hoping someone would come out with a Ruger 10/22 type rifle but in 22mag but all i ever see are bolt action so this is a must have!!
Thanks for the info.love your style sir👍🏿
I think your video is getting clipped Jeff. It ends while you're talking and doesn't have the traditional music ending. UA-cam ad interference?
No idea what the problem is, so I re-loaded the video:
ua-cam.com/video/ry89JDxzItA/v-deo.html
Boge
Video ends at 7:02......seems to be cut short.
Exactly Viiking......Jeff....if you're listening can you please reload this video. I'd love to see the second half.

Been watching for years. Just subbed, can I ask what state you're from? Great vid. Thank you
Keltec should make a ak74u replica in 22 magnum ,5.7x28 or 32 NAA.
love the reviews
I will say this about my experience with kel tec. I have owned 3 of their pistols. Only one worked out of the box. The other 2 went back to k/t, and they fixed both while I waited. Had they test fired both, they would have had problems immediately. I just don't trust them.
Is the magazine interchangeable with the pistol
Yes, the CMR and PMR use the same magazines.
jeff
They need to make it in 357 Sig.
Somebody needs to make a 30 rd 357 magnum magazine
Looks fun.
