India is a nation of rice and wheat eaters. That was the general perception, until the government of India reinforced the health benefits of millets.
Since then, the food menu in some parts of the country has been witnessing a change that could eventually push rice and wheat to the edge of our plate.
The government is so convinced of the benefits - in terms of health, nutrition, cultivation and environment - of millets that the United Nations declared 2023 as the International Year of Millets.
So why is the government motivating Indians to add millets to their diet? What are entrepreneurs doing to make the packaging of millet-based products attractive to consumers like us?

I believe that awareness about cooking millet should be provided in television advertisements and on social media so that people can become aware of it. Before watching this video, I was aware that "2023 is the International Year of Millets" but I was not aware of how to consume it. Spreading awareness about the same is very much necessary. Though I'm not into television at all but I never heard about the advertisements of millet cooking. So, I this the correct course of action is to spread awareness about millet cooking. If one person is aware of it, then the same person can make 10 more persons aware of it, and the cycle continues.

It was the staple food of the villagers of Maharashtra and Southern States then the rich realised that its a superfood and the prices went up by 7-10 times.

I think that prices should be lowered as India is still a developing nation and people will take time to understand the health benefits of millet. If people are not aware of millet and the price of millet is high, then only the rich will use it, and the middle class and poor people will not even try to buy it.
