The problem is our justice system. We need tougher sentences for auto theft. Canada has become a Disney Land for crooks. When they get caught they are back out the same day. To make bail you don't even have to have the cash, just sign a promissory note that you are going to pay and you walk right out. They have so much trust in criminals its ridiculous. The Police don't even want to be bothered catching them because of this.
@@peterfairlie2296The problem with that logic is that it assumes criminals are rational. Violent crimes are punished severely in many countries too but the criminals keep doing it frequently.
Banning flipper zeros due to auto theft is like banning USB cords because they are used to steal kias.

@@peterfairlie2296 I F-in hate tiktok. I will never use it let alone join it. Occasionally I'll watch a video on the website but other than that it's all youtube for me. I would love to have a flipper. I'd just use it for remote control for the TV and I have a few wireless switches for outdoor lights and one for a fan which use 315 mhz which I believe the flipper can pick up and resend. Curious if it can read EPC tags used at walmart.

they watched too many people make fake videos and nobody who wrote any of those laws knows a thing about rolling codes. if youre able to steal a car with a flipper, youre already able to do it without one as you need access to the key.

You can make a lot more powerful pentesting tool with a raspberry pi and off the shelf components.
This will end up just like RSA encryption in the early 90's in the US it was illegal to export strong encryption products, however if you put the source code in a book you could export that.

it would take way to long to still a car with a flipper. they use way better equipment and most of the time its Diller ship equipment that how they can do it so fa.st they reflash the car computer with factory programing for the alarm and use lock smith programing tools for the keys chips. its way easier with these tools and there no damage to the car . not like the old car in the 80-90s they used window punch wire snip and screw driver or push button to start. with dealer ship and lock smith tools there no damage and its 3-5 min and there driving off like it was there own a flipper would be way to long most likely close to a hour if not more that be dumb and the car computer would need to be shut and reset flipper doesn't have any way yet to plug in to a cars ecu.some cars also have gps/low jack boxes. the Canida intel Agent sea are supposedly extremely good. hope that wasn't them putting out that false news.

So, what _would_ be the process to preventing bans like these? I'm not familiar with the political process here in Canada, but I do know that when it came to right to repair in the states, it was literally a case of corpos blatantly lying to politicians and no one showing up speaking for reality. I imagine there must be some public hearing before these laws come into effect, no?
It'll be done thought regulatory by way of ISED the equivalent of the FCC. It's pretty much a done deal at this point.

It's arguably even more malleable since the "code" is executed by feeble humans. (Which is especially something the corpos love) In this case, I don't even think ISED even has the authority to ban things, and if they start lobbying for legislation that actually does ban these things, I want to know what that process is so it can be used to our advantage.

There is now going to be a made rush with everyone in Canada trying to buy them up before the ban.
1) if you properly look in regulation and back of flipper zero case, you will realize it never was LEGAL in US,EEA/EU,AU... to use it for something else then wifi related things ( of course doing DoS on wifi is illegal but for simplicity sake... ).
2) you ARE bad actor if you act, like you are not intelligent enough to understand what phrase - "such as flipper Zero" mean...
3) And that phrase is put there by journalist. So even if you do not agree with anything else what i wrote, this logic flaw of yours is mindbogling on itself....
4) And yes for some cars it is enough to jam signal to steal it, which flipper zero can do in those frequencies.......
