If i remember correctly they played this on BBC2 it was such a Hit they repeated it on BBC1 the next evening
You mentioned the audience. Fun fact about the crowd, the producers with only one or two days notice went to local businesses and restaurants to put the word out that Elvis was filming a TV special and people were needed to fill the seats. Well, as you see, there was no issue getting people to come.
I believe as the story goes Elvis manager “The Colonel” had the tickets and was responsible for handling getting them to the public, he chose not to because he was unhappy with the direction of the special and that Elvis was not listening to him like he was Steve Binder. When it came time for the stage segment they had to go to the local Bob’s Big Boy restaurant and literally ask the customers if they wanted to come see Elvis Presley perform and that is how they filled the studio in the chaos.

I was about 12 when I watched this special. He was fire! I fell in love with him that night. My mom and aunt watched with me, with their mouths hanging open!😄 The critics said this was Elvis’ comeback. I don’t think he ever left.

I'm old enough to have gotten to see this special live. I was about 12 when it came out. It was so good. Elvis was really at the top of his game.
Another performance I've requested since you first started this Elvis journey is Hound Dog.
But the performance I'm requesting is on The Milton Berle Show from 1956, and it's the performance that ended up getting Elvis banned from being filmed full bodied. After this performance, he was only allowed to be filmed from the waist up because they thought his hip thrusting was causing juvenile delinquency among the youth. 😂
When you think the performance is over, it's not....keep watching because Elvis does something at the end that even his band members were not expecting, but being the professionals they were, they fell in with Elvis and pulled it off.
