I think she was starting to open up more and relax better before, but it seems like she regressed a lot after The World toyed with her mind in a really cruel and traumatic way. If you say the wrong words, it's like she can't help it, that she can't see/think clearly... I can actually relate to her on the "can't trust them if they same the same words as everyone else, even if they actually mean it" bit. There's real psychology to it for someone who's been hurt many times over. And sometimes exact details matter, to make sure everything is exactly clear enough.... and it especially matters most, during her most mentally vulnerable moments. Given some time, I imagine she can start to relax again...
When nier said "i can't trust you" , i sunk for a moment. It won't be easy, but the day where nier's capable to trust people and regard them in her conscious mind in a healthy way again will come someday.
Worse The idea is with them dead, they will never change or stay as someone that hurts nier. Nier can forever love them in her perfect image/ideal on top of their corpses. Or at least thats what i thought.
