- Day Two July 9, 2021: 15.6 miles from mile 8.9 to Cafe Wren. Beautiful day walking a large portion of the Gandy Dancer segment. Flat snowmobile/biking trail oftentimes covered in a canopy of trees.
Saw a skunk cross the trail just10 feet from us … not a care in the world. Also saw a fearless deer, chipmunk, and a very friendly farm cat and her 3 juvenile kittens.
Ended the day at Cafe Wren where great food is served and they allow backpackers to tent in back. Guess where we’re eating breakfast :)

Am very happy to be one of your supporters. Surprised at sunglasses. HYOH. To each their own. Good luck & Godspeed! Trek on! ... smile ... ..
Cafe Wren is great! Everyone there was wonderful when I hiked through there this spring. The Gandy Dancer segment is an old railroad right of way (“gandy dancers” was the slang term for the men that laid the track during it’s original construction). Lots of woods, hills and ticks ahead!
Trail looks very nice. Thanks for sharing your journey. 👍
Those OR sun hoodies are the best invention since sliced bread.
I'm liking this trail! It looks great for someone who isn't up to the rock scrambles and cliffsides of the other longish trails. Kitties! ♥♥♥
Great video! Now that’s the kind of trail that I love to hike. Good job guys! Have a wonderful adventure.
Why has only 100 thru hiked this trail ?
🌲🌲🌲
When you think of epic long hikes do you ever think Wisconsin? It’s a challenging trail so far and I (Sunsets) am getting much more than I expected. I guess people just don’t know about it. There’s lots of road walking and no mountains.
Did you learn about the complete cookie from Constantine?
We sure did.
Ticks are horrible in Alabama again this year. Remember the tick you see is not important, but the unseen one is very important. Happy Hiking!
Awesome, welcome back to WI! Big shout out to the Wren and their support to the hikers. Really enjoyed the stay there earlier this year. Enjoy the beautiful scenery ahead, be careful of the ticks.
Omg all those cats running around is like my dream trail 😂
Awesome video!! Thank you for sharing!🥾🥾⛺️
I love your buff hat. The sun hurts my eyes but wearing a hat makes my head hot. Cafe Wren looks like a pretty cool place.
I love the buff visor - it is SO lightweight and stretchy - no clasp or anything on the back.
Morning guys! 6 days of food, damn! I love that Buff hat! You haven’t hit any mosquito yet because they are all here in MA!Its so cool how the trail just flows in and out of these small towns. Luck is such a cool town name! What a great camping spot, thanks to Cafe Wren for supporting the hiking community! Thanks for bringing us along today. I hope tomorrow’s miles are kind. Keep truckin’ and be well. #giveashit

Looking forward to following your adventure. Hope to stay with you folks this fall when we section hike in the Franklin area. We love the Lenny and Larry’s cookies too
We’d love to have you at the hostel. We’ll be back up and running early October.
I kind of like this trail. So far nice and easy and mostly level, unlike the AT. John from MI
Thank you for sharing!
Keep it up you two! Yes to those cinnamon rolls at Cafe Wren, you're pounding out the miles, it's ok to indulge 🤣
Okay, what were those Orange Berries where Greg said yummm? We didn’t know what they were but they are everywhere by our camper. I didn’t think they were eatable.
The weather looks gorgeous! Super sweaty here in MD. The signage and DCA are interesting…looks to be set up and maintained well.
Pretty sweltery here two - after day 1. The DCAs are few and far between but yes they do maintain them well.
Really nice hike!
Good job on mileage day 2! Hope the heat stays away or you get some nice shades trails!
Oh yea for no ticks. Hope that continues for you!
