I'm from England but I wanna learn Romanian because the language and country is cool and we got a lot of Romanian people in Britain so it'd be cool to be able to speak to them in Romanian.
I work with Romanian people, I'm an old English man and I have to admit that the young people are very respectful of old people like me. They are decent people and I have learnt a couple of phrases from them. I even had a young couple say to me, Bobby when you retire come back to Romania with us. London is no place to grow old. They are my favourite of all the foreign people who live in the UK.
Please pin this comment. I'm Romanian. In formal situations we do not and I repeat DO NOT use "bună". "Bună" s a way to greet your friends and people the same age as you (unless you're an adult). You can as well just say "Hei" which is "hey" in English, accepted in Romanian. For formal situations just as meeting, talking to a boss or teacher or even people the same age (if you're an adult) we use "Bună ziua". This literally means "Have a good day" and can be used as a greeting when you meet the person and as well when you say goodbye without worries in formal situations.
Can you please tell me if people get pissed off or don't understand you when you can't manage this 'rolling r'? I'm especially not able to pull it off after a 't' xDDD
Also no one says "Multumesc foarte mult" I was 3 mins into the video and I had already started to notice the Anglicanisms. We say for thank you a lot - "multumesc frumos".

Romanians when speaking English often say 'for nothing' instead of 'you're welcome'. I heard it several times in Bucharest.it's actually similar to Spanish 'de nada"

usually when someone thank you for something ("multumesc !") you will reply "pentru putin" (that mean it was a small thing , it was effortless for me to help you ... this is the place birth of "for nothing") , or you can reply "cu placere" (it was my pleasure to help you) .it's easy for us as romanians but it is hard to understand for outsiders .

I love how everybody has a sentimental reason to learn Romanian like talking to their crushes and exploring their heritage but there's that small percentage that just wants to be like Sebastion stan
I used to work with Romanian from braila for over 10 years their Romanian is different from yours your Romanian sounds very clear sophisticated and elegant
Marco Natal Almost nobody in Romania speaks like that. That is just in schools and things. Obviously you have to speak "correctly" to teach people but here pretty much nobody cares if you don't speak it neatly

I’m British African, but this is good for me to learn because my friend is Romanian, so I like to learn some basics. The only word I know is Sault if I spelt it correctly which is hi in Romanian. I’d love to learn how to greet in Romanian to my friend.
My cousin married a beautiful Romanian woman. They are having a baby and I will be there quite often. I want to be able to speak to the baby in the language that she will be learning from the family. I’m super excited
Really cool video, I have learned some Romanian last summer, when I was invited to a wedding in Romania. Unfortunately, I´ve forgotten a lot, but I remembered really quick. Even when I´ve known most of these phrases, it was very helpful when it comes to pronunciation. I would love to learn it better and maybe one day Russian too (I have family in both countries but I´m Austrian).
Foarte frumoasa este limba care ne vorbim, or "Very beautiful is the language we speak", wrote Romania's greatest poet, Mihai Eminescu, in the nineteenth century. I would definitely agree - de sigur, sunt de acord.
panfluteman2000 Sorry correct you, but it is actually "Foarte frumoasă este limba pe care o vorbim". About the "care" and "pe care".... Many romanians are getting dizzy because of it 😂😂😂
Its really wonderful to learn different languages... I love to talk with the entire world if I learn all the these languages .... And for me as far as my experience French and English is the easiest for me .... Anyways its really interesting
I had gone through life in America for 35 years... and then somehow I saw a video on the forgotten romance language called Romanian. I'd studied French for 5+ years but I guess I never really got deep into it. There's nothing really in French culture that draws me I realized... it's just sort of a thing I favored for a while over learning Spanish or german... so I heard Romanian being spoken and I dropped what i was doing and I decided right there, this is the most beautiful language I've ever heard. IMO True.
i am a native romanian speaker and i must say PLEASE don't follow her guide because it has a LOT of mistakes, we very rarely use "pentru nimic" for you're welcome and NEVER use "buna" in a formal situation, not to mention the accent omg (yes she is a native romanian speaker too)
@@njackson7770 there aren't that many "mistakes". You can say "pentru nimic", even though "cu placere" is the common one. You'll just sound old fashioned/francophile ;-)

I don't know if now you know better or not but since I'm from Romanian I would say it like this:Salut sunt din Grecia!Iubesc România!!I usually don't put that ă or ț or ş I put a or t or s because I understand
"Îmi pare bine" doesn't directly translates to Nice to meet you! There is no "meet you" in this, but that's just how we say it! If we say the whole "Nice to meet you"(which we do most of the times) it would be "Imi pare bine sa te cunosc" which roughly translates to"I feel good to meet you",roughly, just roughly, i don't know how to translate "pare" in this context, but thats what we mean!

Wow, it sounds so simitar to Italian. I just wish I could have longer lifetime to learn some more languages. I'd include Romanian for sure.
Trust me it's not similar
@@andrew.s8.enjoyer It actually is. It also helps to be good at learning languages, because if it’s not your “talent” to say so, you just don’t see the similarities.
Un român vede asta
Român aici. Ce este asta
I’m a Romanian born in America! So I’m half American and half Romanian since my parents were born in Romania, so I know the basics, but this is still so interesting 😊😊
Poate jumătate American jumătate Vampir 🧛
Romania’s ex prime minister (madame Viorica) should watch this video
Why ?
Jasmin vorbeste de Dancila
why
@@Jasmin-lc6vb
Romanian politics so complicated, that if I tried to explain to you who was Viorica Dancila and why she became prime minister I would lose hours writing here.
Adv xd
My kids are Romanian and they got a kick out of me talking to them in Romanian thank you so much.
This helped alot! thank you my romanian freind knows little english and this way i can help her by learning her languge
I learnt more watching this video than I did learning Spanish for 5 years in school.
Maturity and interest could be the reason
This is my favorite video of all time ❤️ to be honest I didn’t knew how the Romanian language is like, and I’m a big fan of Sebastian Stan. Now that I hear it it’s so romantic! The language of course.
of course the language, cause sebastian is a beach
@@cornerro He sounds like waves when he talks or what?
I love how everybody has a sentimental reason to learn Romanian like talking to their crushes and exploring their heritage but there's that small percentage that just wants to be like Sebastion stan
I am a part of that small percentage😂 but like if I meet him I want to be able to have a conversation with him😭
@@bethlocke1336 he knows English. If you want to hold a good conversation in Romanian, learn it properly.
to be with
my entire family is romanian & never bothered to teach me growing up, thank you!
It's awesome how it's super easy for me as a native catalan and spanish speaker
I used to work with Romanian from braila for over 10 years their Romanian is different from yours your Romanian sounds very clear sophisticated and elegant
Marco Natal Almost nobody in Romania speaks like that. That is just in schools and things. Obviously you have to speak "correctly" to teach people but here pretty much nobody cares if you don't speak it neatly
sleepy a thank you for listening I know a little bit of Romanian, I'm trying to keep up with it, I work with Romanian people for many many years I pretty much know about the history and the culture. I know enough to hold a conversation but I want to learn more the Romanians I met their From the Rough tough side of Romania real gangsters here in New York City trying to learn Romanian wish me luck thanks for listening
@Oricand Brăila? Un fel de Moldova. Da' mai mică...
They are called accents, in moldova region the language is slightly of, same as ardeal :)
I’m British African, but this is good for me to learn because my friend is Romanian, so I like to learn some basics. The only word I know is Sault if I spelt it correctly which is hi in Romanian. I’d love to learn how to greet in Romanian to my friend.
salut
My cousin married a beautiful Romanian woman. They are having a baby and I will be there quite often. I want to be able to speak to the baby in the language that she will be learning from the family. I’m super excited
THANK YOU for slowing down the pronunciations
Hvala Vama! Thanks to this lessons are languages more near than in last years.
There's a cute short-haired Romanian girl I work with, and this might be useful. Thanks for the lessons!
lol, she actually got transferred to another store about 3 weeks ago. Never got them digits :(
Go to Romania and bang it out of your system
@Yves LaFayette um...okay?
@Yves LaFayette don't destroy my illusions
@Yves LaFayette Romanians marry whoever the fuck they want to...
Thank you for the lesson. Now I can communicate with the spirit of Vlad Tepes..
Hoping to come there and learn more about your language. Good technique. Well done
Soon I'm going to visit a romanian friend of mine in Romania, this video helps a lot for some basic phrases, very clear.
mulțumesc foarte mult! :)
Many romanians are getting dizzy because of it 😂😂😂
Desigur*
Thank you from Greece , wanted to talk Romanian.. ( I have to.. because I will be there for work) ;)
George Chamberlain είναι εύκολη γλώσσα
I'll be there too George.
Τελικά.. μετακόμοισα στο Brasov... :)
Really.... ? New economy power probably.. :)
Είναι πολύ ωραία πόλη, Συγχαρητήρια
Για πάντα???
IMO
True.
I'm not planing to go to Romania any soon, but i'm watching this because why not, Thank you!
I'm Dutch 🇳🇱 learning Italian 🇮🇹 and I feel triggered through this language 🇷🇴
pull the trigger icke!
Haha, i am learning dutch 😂 very difficult🤕🤕 Romanian is not so hard, so good luck
Who‘s here because of Sebastian Stan?
Medina Hoxha I accidentally learnt some words in Romani LOL then I realized I wasn’t speaking romaniAN and i’m only trying because of him 😂
NEVER heard of him. I'm here because I live here and am tired of not understanding a thing the locals say.
oops
I AMM
Exactly my reason
i am a native romanian speaker and i must say PLEASE don't follow her guide because it has a LOT of mistakes, we very rarely use "pentru nimic" for you're welcome and NEVER use "buna" in a formal situation, not to mention the accent omg (yes she is a native romanian speaker too)
I was wondering about "pentru nimic". Never heard that before. I learned "cu plăcere" and was quite surprised she didn't even mention that option.
I'm a Romanian native speaker and I use "cu plăcere". You can also use "pentru puțin" that's what I usually use
Is there a video that you think does a better job at teaching Romanian?
@@njackson7770 there aren't that many "mistakes". You can say "pentru nimic", even though "cu placere" is the common one. You'll just sound old fashioned/francophile ;-)
@@bogdiworksV2 >> ...AND what, exactly, is wrong with being old? (not that I would know anything about that...)
I'm watching you again after 2 years...and still remember almost every word from 1st to last...😭😂
The Romanian language is so interesting and there are some similarities with Italian) I love it)

Buna, sunt learning Romanian spre vorbesc spre an old man on meo mail route that no vorbesc inglesa
We’ve “communicated “ over the past month or so a minute or so each day aside from just after Christmas when he invited me into his home for homemade wine and donuts. Over the time that’s passed we’ve shared our names and general family details. His wife passed 4 years ago and his daughter lives about an hour’s drive away so he doesn’t get to talk much. I’m learning for him and I enjoy it, foarte mult.
Thank you so much for this video, I mostly know all those words but I figure out I prounoucing it wrong . merci for the phonetic pronunciation ,highly appreciated Raluca ,keep the good work !!
E misto sa fii roman si sa citesti comentariile oamenilor ce invata romana de la acest tutorial
Thanks! I'm learning bases very fast! Multumesc
I come from northern Bulgaria, Bulgatian born and breed, however my
Grandparents used to speak some kind of Romanian language at Home , basically the whole area I grew up
In could speak Romanian 😅
Thanks for the lesson , it brought me memories of my

Being a native latin language speaker helps a lot ! Follow French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish here we go !
Salut din Grecia! Te iubesc România (I don't know Romanian)!
Greetings from Greece!
I think i'm learning. I just read Romanian and understood exactly what you said.
I don't know if now you know better or not but since I'm from Romanian I would say it like this:Salut sunt din Grecia!Iubesc România!!I usually don't put that ă or ț or ş I put a or t or s because I understand
we love you more, just take a look at your beaches
"Îmi pare bine" doesn't directly translates to Nice to meet you! There is no "meet you" in this, but that's just how we say it!
If we say the whole "Nice to meet you"(which we do most of the times) it would be "Imi pare bine sa te cunosc" which roughly translates to"I feel good to meet you",roughly, just roughly, i don't know how to translate "pare" in this context, but thats what we mean!
Such a beautiful language
Until you hear the curse words
You're welcome it is not necessarily said at ,,pentru nimic", it is most often used to say ,,cu placere"
Thank you for this video. Your English is excellent ! Greetings from the US.
You forgot salut as greeting!
