Cheers Elijah, my Dad suggested it to me when I was young and has helped me find several jobs, in multiple industries. Also I suppose it catches people off guard and helps you stick out, in a good way :)
Josh Chapman yeah before I decided to do building, I did a day free as an arborist, tool maker and a fencer ( it wasn't any skin off my nose to work a day for free to get my foot in the door )
Good last name haha, so I'm 37 an I've decided that i wanna be a builder so I've enrolled to do a pre apprenticeship in building and construction over here in Australia, hopefully i can gain an apprenticeship at my age.
@@apolloclawk7408 the biggest hurdle will be finding someone who's willing to put me on, i do have previous experience working experience on building sites as i done plastering and painting back when i was younger then life took a different route and now I'm ready to get a career instead of just a job
Good question, I think two things a) you probably don't need to do an apprenticeship from scratch, but would benefit from some local knowledge, so find a way to gain that b) find a company that can utilise your management skills
Thank you for the response. Do you mind if I pick your brain on a couple of things? I have been studying some details used to build in NZ and I understand the foundation waffling system, am I correct in thinking that the reason for the usage of timber fo r the superstructure is due to the external conditions such as earthquakes? Or is it a cheaper product to use which ultimately affect the bottom line?. In SA we mainly use brick and mortar or and wood is mainly used as a finishing product. I'm really intrigued by the details should be fun to relearn all the reasons why it's built a certain way in that part of the world. Thanks for your time.
@@nzbuilder oh I did. I'm a qualified builder now. I just remember the start of trying to find someone who would take a risk at giving me a shot at becoming a builder.
someone tells me to be there at 0800, I will be there at 0800. you want me there at 0750, you tell me to be there at 0750 and you pay me those 10minutes.
