Dear Anna, I am dissatisfied with the offer in the shops so I started thinking about macrame for the door curtain in the house on the sea. I found your video instructions on the youtube channel. You’re fantastic, you’re really inspiring, your patterns are beautiful, and your English ... perfect. When I discovered you, I gave up all other instructions :-) Many greetings from Croatia, Ana

Hi Anna. Excellent teaching video. Question. How tight is tight?

Excellent question :D I'm afraid I don't have an equally excellent answer for you. There are a couple of factors that come into play such as the type of the rope and the type of the knot. In general you want to keep things a bit looser with braided cord compared to the others since it's more stretchy. And a square knot will be looser compared to a double half hitch for example. I think you just have to go and experiment with this for yourself to see what works best.

Additional info and tips regarding the square knot:
It goes also by the name Cobra Knot, usually when used with paracord.
Beginners can get lost on which side to fold over, which strand left or right goes in front. Simply look on which side the last vertical "bar" on the left/right side is, that's the side that folds over / goes in front next.
If you always fold over the same side, instead to alternate sides, the knot chain will spiral. It can be desired to make this pattern, as it looks nice especially if used in conjunction with other patterns.

Thank you for the additional info! And you're absolutely right, I still have to think sometimes about which side should go next and I do exactly as you said and look at where the last "bar" is. Very helpful tip!

    I have a big ask.....
I am selling diy kits at a market in Des. Will it be okay if I link my instructions to your UA-cam videos.

Sure, I am okay with that 🙂 Good luck with the sales!
