Charismatics, lay people. incorrectly presume they are imparting the Holy Spirt...when they anoint others and expect them so be "Slain in the Spirit." But *Sacramental Confirmation imparts the 7-fold GIFTS of the HOLY SPIRIT:* Fear of the Lord, Piety, Knowledge, Zeal, Counsel, Understanding and Wisdom. In that order.

Pentecostalism, according to the sources I have so far found, does not baptize in the Trinitarian form which removes Original Sin.
Without valid form there is no Baptism, no sacramental grace of the Holy Spirit.
No wonder they have a "Pent-up" drive to emotionally express in "baptism of the spirit" what they essentially lack.
"Charismatic Catholics," perhaps due to false ecumenism, poor catechesis, & liturgical abuse, embrace enthusiasm & error in lieu of traditional Catholicism.

I realized one day at Communion, that when we receive Jesus, we receive the fullness of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Wherever Jesus is, there, too, is the fullness of the Triune Divine life of God. I have since really embraced that understanding and asking the Holy Spirit to fill me with Divine life and union with Jesus. Why would we need a lay person laying hands on us for any impartation when we receive daily the fullness of the Holy Spirit. I am free now from that Charismatic heresy.

Catholic scholars ignore that 3-dimensional sins precede philosophical errors like Modernism. The popular male vices preceded Modernism, such as drunkenness, gambling, greed, domestic abuse - physical or verbal, pornography, adultery and criminality. Catholic clergymen and laymen continually gripe about women, but they are too vain to discuss men's vice. So they only discuss philosophies.

As having lived as full-fledged member of the Charismatic Renewal and having received "the fire," I have to say a couple of things:
First - No, it isn’t Pentecostalism. Today’s Charismatic movement is strongly tied to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, the Bible, and obedience to clergy. While I won’t dispute its Protestant origin, neither should you dispute the origin of our Christmas trees, which also stem from non-Christian traditions but were sanctified and integrated into Christian practice. Similarly, the Charismatic Renewal has been embraced by the Church and given a theological home within Catholicism.
Secondly, the Charismatic Renewal does not replace or redefine traditional Catholic practices; rather, it enriches them. It fosters a deeper awareness of the sacraments, particularly the Eucharist, as the source and summit of our faith. This movement emphasizes a personal encounter with Christ and the power of the Holy Spirit to transform hearts, which propels believers to live more fully within the Church's teaching and sacramental life.
Thirdly, the Renewal is deeply communal, drawing participants into greater unity with the Church while respecting its hierarchical structure. The gifts of the Spirit, such as prophecy, tongues, and healing, are never seen as individualistic but are exercised within the context of Church authority and for the building up of the Body of Christ.
Finally, the Charismatic Renewal is a powerful tool for evangelization, as it draws countless individuals into a deeper relationship with God. Through retreats, prayer groups, and spiritual outreach, it has helped renew parishes and reignite the faith of countless Catholics who might otherwise drift away.
In summary, the Charismatic Renewal is both deeply Catholic and a living testament to the dynamic work of the Holy Spirit in the Church today. Far from being a Protestant transplant, it’s a reminder that God uses all things to draw His people closer to Himself.

Now, am I saying there aren’t any issues? No. What I’m saying is a true and definite statement: neither Charismatism, nor Traditionalism, nor Novus Ordo-ism, nor any other “ism” will save you. What will save you is the foundation laid out by Christ, which does indeed call us to hold to tradition, which does indeed call us to seek renewal through a personal relationship with Him.
Let’s not even begin to talk about the next movement that’s imminent-one I’m sure traditionalists will also fight. But here’s the truth: the Holy Spirit is never stagnant. God’s work moves forward, not backward, and this requires an openness to both authentic renewal and unwavering obedience to the Church Christ established.
The Kingdom of the Divine Will, for instance, is a movement already stirring hearts. It’s a call not just for individual holiness but for living entirely in God’s will-a radical submission that traditionalists may see as incompatible with their rigid frameworks, just as they once viewed the Charismatic Renewal. Yet, this movement, like all authentic works of the Spirit, doesn’t oppose the Church but deepens our understanding of Christ’s call to holiness, obedience, and trust in His providence.
The challenge lies in discerning what comes from the Spirit versus what springs from human pride or error. This is why we must remain firmly anchored to Christ, the Magisterium, and the Sacraments. Whether Renewal, Tradition, or the movements to come, all are useless unless they lead us to love God with all our heart, mind, soul, and strength and our neighbor as ourselves.
What we need to realize is this: God is not bound by our categories or preferences. The Spirit works where He wills, renewing the Church in ways that challenge our preconceptions and humble our pride. If we cling to Christ, the foundation that calls us to both tradition and renewal, we’ll be ready for the new things He is doing-and the ultimate fulfillment of His will on earth.

@ The fact that you claim taking part in the faith and practice of 2000 years of Catholicism is traditional Rigidness should tell everyone what to think of your opinions.
      That’s a laughable claim.

    • @roddy1420
      @roddy1420 13 днів тому +1

      @@A_New_Crusade
In light of truth, I’m not trying to antagonize traditionalism-in fact, I regularly assist at the Traditional Latin Mass and deeply appreciate its reverence and beauty. My point isn’t to criticize the traditional practice of the faith, which is rooted in 2,000 years of Catholicism. Instead, I’m addressing the risk of rigid ideologies that sometimes develop around traditionalism, or any “ism,” for that matter.
Holding fast to the traditions of the Church is not rigidness-it’s fidelity. But when tradition becomes an end in itself, detached from the living, dynamic movement of the Holy Spirit in the Church, it risks becoming stagnant. Christ Himself warned about prioritizing the “letter” over the “spirit” of the law.
The Church has always upheld both tradition and renewal. Think of the Second Vatican Council, which sought to bring the Church’s timeless truths into dialogue with the modern world, or the way saints like Francis of Assisi renewed the faith in their own time while staying fully obedient to the Church. Faithfulness to tradition does not mean rejecting the Spirit’s ongoing work in bringing the Church forward.
So, my claim isn’t laughable; it’s an observation that we, as Catholics, need balance. Tradition and renewal are not enemies-they are two wings that allow the Church to soar. When the Spirit prompts a new movement, it isn’t a rejection of what came before but a fulfillment of it. The same Spirit that inspired the early Church Fathers and the Council of Trent is at work today, calling us to live more fully in God’s grace.
I’m committed to the faith of our forefathers, but I’m also open to how the Spirit may be moving now to deepen our understanding and prepare us for what’s to come. Truth never changes, but the way it is lived and expressed can grow in richness without ever contradicting its foundation.
