    Good video,one thing i felt we could have added while talking about low savings in Europe.
    Salaries in India are higher when compared to the India cost of living, but if you are joining a company like FB London, Apple London, your net savings in absolute INR terms would still be significantly higher. So if the plan is to move back to India in 6-7 years, the move makes sense even financially. So overall you get to experience an entirely new culture and travel through Europe with even a bit more savings.
    Same applies to Canada too

    • @SoumyajitBhattacharyay
      @SoumyajitBhattacharyay  3 роки тому

      Not entirely true. The salaries in comparable companies in india is significantly high.
      For example, let's take the exampke of amazon, there only the base salary given is high but the joining bonus as well as stocks given out in those countries are lower than what is being given in India for SDE2 and higher.
      For example, now a days, in India people with 3, 4 yoe are earning upwards of 50 to 60 lakh per year. And I am talking about the yearly salary not CTC and stuff.
      Given the significantly lower taxes and very very low COL, here the savings is substantial here as well. .
      And same goes for Canada as well.

    • @shashankshekhar8970
      @shashankshekhar8970 3 роки тому

      @@SoumyajitBhattacharyay I am considering the higher side offer in both the cases. for India that will be 50l at 4YOE and at London lets take FBs E4 equivalent of 120k GBP. (80+10+30). Amazon Europe's pay is a bit on the lower side. Fb's equivalents would be Apple/Twitter/Stripe in London, Google in Zurich and then Uber/Databricks in Amsterdam
      India-> TC=50L, Post tax=~36l, expenses=15l (Lets assume expenses to be higher on both sides), INR Savings=21l per year
      Fb-> TC=120k, Post Tax=~70k (50% tax on RSUs), expenses=30k, Savings=40k (40l INR)
      Again not everyone would be getting the FB E4 but neither would everyone be getting 50L.

    • @SoumyajitBhattacharyay
      @SoumyajitBhattacharyay  3 роки тому

      That is what I am saying higher side at 4 yoe is around 65 ish. 50 is more of a median pay now at good tech companies where we are comparing. And mind you in Europe London's pay is the highest except for Switzerland. And all the other countries follow suit. Here we are only considering taxes we should also consider national insurance that one has to pay.
      15 lakh yearly expense is very high for a single person. And 30K yearly expense is just about ok. Considering similar living conditions.
      An normal ensuit room in a 3bhk in hyd will set you back by only=10k R.S.
      However same for London will set you back by a minimum of 1000 to 1.5K pound per month.
      So while comparing we should be comparing similar expense.
      Should also take into account other expenses for traveling back to India into consideration as well. 🙂.
      Then you should also need to consideration the normal hike and increments given. In any developed nation a good hike is around 2-3%.
      However here the hike is around 10-15/%. Along with it, some companies like Arcesium etc. Has constantly given me hikes of more than 20- 25% on average. 🙂.
      Plus we are also not including the interest earned while keeping the money in respective countries. In most of them for index funds etc. The interest returns are around 6-7% in good cases. Here that is around 15% at least.
      I have done a very detailed comparison between the two countries and calculated everything to the tee. 🙂.
      And for 50L an SDE2 at most of the good tech companies are earning that at 3 yoe. 🙂

    • @shashankshekhar8970
      @shashankshekhar8970 3 роки тому

      @@SoumyajitBhattacharyay yeah, when you say 3-4yoe guys getting that much i am one of them. I have an FB E4 scheduled and have been looking into it. In one of the threads i mentioned 30k London expenses and then Indians living in London absolutely roasted me saying its too high 😂. And 65 is i think almost the top at 4yoe, an FB E4 equiv would be 140k. London has the highest pay and also the highest COL (barring Switz). Regarding the index funds and annual hikes, yeah that is something i agree on, but their refreshers are higher too.
      Also calling 50L a median at 3YOE might be a bit extreme 😅. I only see companies like Google, Uber, Linkedin, Coinbase, Amazon(in some cases) and few top startups giving that much
      Anyway, i dont see us getting on the same ground right now, maybe i will research a bit more. Thanks :)

    • @SoumyajitBhattacharyay
      @SoumyajitBhattacharyay  3 роки тому +1

      But again we are comparing such companies.
      See the point I am making we can reduce our expenses by quite a lot. For example as a single person I was only spending around 4 lakh in a year. With eating out, living in an ensuit room, watching movies going on vacations etc. Right now how ever it is down to zero. But you get my point . You need to compare similar living conditions. You taking 15 lakhs as living expenses as a single person is way off the charts. Hope you get the point.
      Not only thise, even sales force, adobe, Airbnb, attlassian, Rubrik, many at Microsoft not all but lateral hires at sde 2. cohesity, d e shaw TRC etc. Pay that much and even more. There are like a lot of companies around 20 - 30 that I can name that are paying this comp. So it is fair to say when we are just comparing it with two companies out there Facebook and Google. 🙂
      Not discouraging anyone. Everyone has different priorities.
      For example in USA definitely it is way more. And it is much much better scenario.
      Even if you stretch u might save more but by a very small margin. Refreshers in London are not that great in general.
      But at a cost of living all alone assuming going there without a family, leaving everyone behind just to may be save a small amount more. 🙂 That too me offsets everything.
      Yes if you were let's say saving significantly more in the case of USA, where in a year you can save around 70 lakhs and more per year at SDE 2 level, just as an internal transfer, and as a lateral hire much more, with similar living conditions, yes then we can say it's worth giving a shot. But again, this is just my theory.
      Cheers and best of luck for the interview.
      And a lot more people are getting these salaries at 3 - 4 yoe, that FB E4 combined or Google L4 combined. 🙂

    Thanks for the information ❤️, just a small question : If we get the job will it be possible to do it remotely from india only or relocation is a must ?

    • @SoumyajitBhattacharyay
      @SoumyajitBhattacharyay  3 роки тому +3

      For getting salaries with respect to foreign countries relocation is a must.otherwise some of the companies offer remote offers across the world (very very few) but yes salary will be according to India only.

    Hello Sir 😭😭
    Help me decide something plz
    I'm a 4th yr student from tier-3 college (so jo bhi ho off campus ke according he batana)
    I have studied DSA topics and practiced for about 150-200 ques only (wo bhi 70%easy and 30% medium).
    2 projects kiye hain (1st mern ,2nd react+ api consume kr kre)
    now I am not able to decide where to go from here:
    Should I practice more DSA ques and level up my problem solving or should I apply for internship in startups.
    End goal to wahi hai Faang type company mein kaam krna. But certainty nhi hai ki hoga ki nhi hoga isliye doubt jaa ra hai ki agr DSA pr zyada tym dia aur koi experience nhi lia to last mein startup ki naukri ke bhi nhi rahenge cuz wo to projects aur previous experience dekhte hain.
