I love this truely astonishing brand. They were quite innovative at the time. Quirky designs and solid no nonsense durable movements. I’m very happy they are back in business. Thank you for a great video.
I think vintage watches have a great futur
I'm sure about that. The history, the patina, the pleasure to see a non runner, ever so humble, get back to life for some time is very rewarding. Keep up the good work! Take care.
The original LIP didn't go out of business; they just stopped making watches to concentrate on machine tools. Today as LIPEMEC they make cylindrical and surface grinding machines, both manual and CNC.
gracias
appreciate your expertise....👍
Thanks 👍
Great video. Subscribed. 👍 Those bracelets were very popular in the 70's and 80's. I had one myself when I was a kid in the 80's. The shame 😳😄
Haha you don’t need to be ashamed. It is like shoes with scratch
@@FrenchWatchCollector 😄Very true. Great result with your Lip Himalaya and the movement looks healthy too. Ready for more decades of service. . 👍
It is curious why LIP didn’t put “fabriqué en france” on the dial.
Yes I don't know why
Great video! I have recently serviced a similar 1940’s LIP R25. I noticed that you didn’t show the mainspring being reinstalled into the barrel. Mine has the DBH Special Bridle (T-end), which I have been unable to manually engage in the barrel slot (only in the lid slot). Did your one have the same? If so, do you have any tips for re-engaging when reinstalling the mainspring?
To be fair I don’t remember if it had a T-end. For the T-end I like to put it just after the slot because when the spring is going to go in it will turn just a little bit and it will fall I the slot
Is there a gasket in the crown tube as well, or only on the case back? What is the size of the case back gasket? My Lip Himalaya fogs up when I wear it in hot weather, and the dial has some green patina from the resulting corrosion, so the gasket(s) certainly need to be replaced. Correcting the beat error on these old movements requires special tools, since the stud carrier is fixed and the hairspring is held in place by a tiny screw. But they seem to work well even when the beat error is as high as 3-4ms.
You have a gasket in the crown and not in the tube. You don't need a special tool to adjust the beat error you just need to disassemble the balance assembly. It is tricky to do.
Great video?
Thank you
Hmm the beat error us 3.5. Should be at least .5 or 0.0.
Agree it is too height. I did not have the skills to adjust it at the time. Now i know how to do it and without panic 😱
@@FrenchWatchCollector ahh very well then. I'm starting as well so I'll continue to watch your channel
@@vintagewatchesforchrist3436 Thank you
