    After about 6 tutoriais, this is the first straightforward one telling how and why.
    The others did not work for me because they did not explain about naming the roms and the folders properly.
    Just default settings will not work for everybody even if they follow all the steps in other tutorials.
    Thanks! Keep it up!

    Could anyone please help me out? I have all my roms for my Nvidia on an external USB, and Retroarch and other emulators on internal storage. I’ve been using the brilliant Arc Browser and now want to add Hyperspin. I have it installed to both internal and external storage.
    I think I understand the basics of it. My main question is: can I simply point Hyperspin toward the emulators on internal storage? I’ve been fiddling with the ini files and can’t seem to get it right. From reading around it looks like I need to copy the emulators to the USB and put them in the hyperspin folder, meaning I’ll need to set the USB as internal and reset it and start again. But I really don’t want to if it can be avoided!

    Hello, I am new to everything android and KODI. I have a shield TV and I was able to setup everything (I go into retro arch and can select the N64 controller and all of the ROMs are there) but when I launch hyper spin nothing happens it just crashes back and I was curious as to how you got "internet" and "emulators" as available options inside of KODI? I saw you launched the games from KODI and not retroarch......

      1) Hyperspin crashes right away - Make sure it's in the "root" of your drive. A simple Google search for "Hyperspin android location" should solve it.
      2) Custom Kodi Tabs - I have a video explaining exactly what to do, it's very easy.
      3) Launching roms from Hyperspin - It's all explained in this video. From downloading Cores in Retroarch (the actual emulators), to setting up ini files (the instructions telling Hyperspin what to do and where to find stuff) and launching everything from within the app.

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  8 років тому

      +Bradon Jackson once a core is updated, you have that emulator. You just have to add it to the .ini file under "parameters". So if you downloaded snes9x, you'd find the Super Nintendo Entertainment System.ini and find parameters= and type...
      parameters=cores/snes9x_next_libretro_android.so

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  8 років тому

      +Bradon Jackson kickass torrents is down due to a raid. You could try thepiratebay .org but it's not what it used to be. Find a good torrent site, search for "hyperspin", and that should get you going. You could visit a "rom" site (google) too. If you have a pc, there is a hyperspin program you can use to batch-rename roms so the rom names match hyperspin databases. If you have more questions just let me know.

      +Amrit Singh (-CuRRy.) I have 2 shield controllers and haven't needed more than that. I've read that Xbox controllers work fine. Playstation controllers don't (I think) because the Marshmallow update broke the app Sixaxis Controller which you need to map the controls. Other Bluetooth controllers like Mad Catz *should* work fine if they're Bluetooth.

      The Mouse That's odd. First, turn off WiFi, then back on. Try again. Next, make sure you don't have an app that can blacklist Internet access for specific applications. Odds are that you don't. If that doesn't help, uninstall then reinstall the app. Go from there. I'm not near my shield to look through the settings, but I don't think there is an option to disable Internet connection, but check the settings anyways. Good luck

      Sure, if the external drive is setup properly and works on one shield, it'll work on another. You might have to setup retroarch manually again on the other shield though. Dunno about saving/copying the setup .

    If you guys want this on Android, use Gamesome Frontend w/ your favorite emulators. Gamesome is the same thing as Hyperspin, organizes all your consoles/games/box art etc.

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  8 років тому

      Gamesome is ALOT easier to use, but it looks nowhere near as good Hyperspin. Plus Hyperspin has videos for every individual game, so if you have a large game library, you can actually see a video of the game before you play it to help you decide if you actually want to or not.

    • @TheRedRaven_
      @TheRedRaven_ 8 років тому

      Aaron Feight Wow, that sounds cool but I imagine it wouldn't work so well due to memory limitations on an android device.

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  8 років тому

      +TheRedRaven The Shield TV is a beast, so it runs absolutely fine. It becomes a storage hog once you add thousands of roms along with thousands of videos for them though. I've got around 150gb's of both for my Hyperspin/emulation library, and that's just scratching the surface of what's available. It's not the way I'd go if this was for tablet or phone use. Then I'd use Gamesome just for ease, simplicity and storage reasons.

    • @TheRedRaven_
      @TheRedRaven_ 8 років тому

      Aaron Feight For sure. The shield is a beast but I opted for the GPD XD for the sole purpose of retro games and it's portability feature. All my serious/heavy emulation is on PC.

    I've had many emulators over the years on PC but this is my first time working with an android OS for it. I just picked up the new Nvidia Shield TV 2017 version and I'm running into some issues. I have ES File explorer installed but I'm not entirely sure how to get the Hyperspin data file set up in the root directory. I suppose my issue is more related to exploring the folders of the Shield TV itself. I was able to enable shield TV folders from my pc that's on the same network, just not sure what to do now. :/

      Topher Larson I think sdcard/ is the root, not sure atm because I'm not home. Once you're in the file Explorer, back up till you're at the beginning, then open "sdcard", that's where you should find Hyperspin after its installed. Use a USB mouse/keyboard to make things alot easier on yourself though lol. If you have any other questions just ask. Good luck.

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  7 років тому

      Topher Larson You're welcome. It's just a folder structure thing, not really reliant on an actual SD card slot. My 500gb model doesn't have an SD card slot either. It's Local/Device/SDcard/, or, Local, then Internal Storage. My hyperspin is there, right next to Downloads.

      Yep, you just need to edit the .ini files accordingly. Instead of "emulators/Sega Genesis/roms" you'd need something like "e:/downloads/Sega Genesis/roms". I haven't tried it, but it's all about "rom path" being accurate.

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  7 років тому

      Jeremy Caulder I assume you're using Retroarch, the option for the button overlay is in the Retroarch settings under Onscreen Overlay. You might have to load each core (Mupen64 for Nin 64, etc) to change the settings for each system. For exiting, it should simply be the Back arrow. You can just "save state", then hit the home button and return to Hyperspin, but Retroarch, Mupen64, pretty much every emulator has its own menu you can access in the game to save, load, quit, and go to settings. It's there, you just haven't found it lol. Good luck.

      I'm not sure exactly what you're asking. If you're having problems with a certain game, it could be your version of MAME, or Tegra 4 (and your processor) isn't strong enough. If you have a PC, try running the game on there then you'll have a better idea of what the problem is.

      Just Googled your system. Honestly, for $50 more, the 16gb Shield would've been alot better. But that's not the point really, try a different emulator. Use either Retroarch, or one specifically for the system you want. I only read your post a couple minutes ago, and haven't done a lot of research, but maybe a different emulator will solve your problem. Let me know what you figure out. Good luck!

      Anthony Odom it's really hard to guess, I have a lot of questions. First, do this for just 1 rom as a test. Make sure the name of the video, the rom, and the ini file are exactly the same. Meaning, if you look at the super nintendo ini list, and you see Super Mario World, make sure that the rom and video file are named Super Mario World, and not "Super Mario World (USA)". Alternatively, ad the video for SMW to the hyperspin folder on the shield to rule out an SD card issue. Let me know what happens then. Good luck.

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  6 років тому +1

      FSM I'll see what i can do about that. Remember though, spelling in everything. If you have a rom that in an way is not spelled the same as the rom name in the list, it wont work. Double check the .ini file name and the rom file name (and location) to make sure they match.

    • @twilightfs
      @twilightfs 6 років тому

      Fizzle Diz running within Retroarch but in my Nvidia Shield on external HDD Hyperspin keeps saying Missing Rom.

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  6 років тому

      FSM if it works in retroarch directly but not in hyperspin, you have a path error. Something is in the wrong spot or the rom is named wrong. An example of a bad name would be....
      If Super Mario World doesnt work, open the super nintendo .ini and find the game in the list. if it's named "Super Mario World (USA)", but your rom is named "Super Mario World" then it wont work. You need to make sure the names are 100% the same. Or go to the Hyperspin forums and make sure you have the Hyperspin folder in the right spot, and make sure you added the rom location correctly in the Super Nintendo .ini

      You'll use a BitTorrent app. Phone or pc, whichever is easiest for you.

      Gurmeet singh good luck :) it's nice because when my son stays the night at friends houses, he can just plug it in the TV and they can play old school games. I also have a gaming pc he streams from, so when he goes to friends houses he brings the (indoors) fun lol

      Lol, I guess it's good your son has an interest in old skool games, I finally got it working and man you can't beat retro games, really brings back some nostalgic memories.

      Gurmeet singh oh for sure. I got him playing Zelda the Wind Waker, and Mario 64, 2 of my favorite old games. Glad you got it working :)

    Im guessing that if i already have an external hd setup correctly with roms, arts, videos for hyperspin i could easily get it all running on my shield tv using this :)

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  7 років тому

      MrAnhell Yep, just edit the necessary ini's to reflect the new android versions of emulators instead of the pc versions. Just install hyperspin and emulators on your shield, then make the changes pointing towards the new apps and locations. I read about it a while back. Should be easy to do, especially since you've done it before!

    • @MrAnhell
      @MrAnhell 7 років тому

      Aaron Feight
      I've never done it before but was thinking of purchasing the 6TB external hd from the hyperspin website to use with this.

      MrAnhell sorry I just now noticed this post. I haven't seen the price compared to just getting a new HD, but compare them, and if the price is good go for it. It'd be nice to have a complete set of roms with no need to edit file names. Pretty much plug and play hopefully.

    hyperspin is pain in the ass I don't see why it's needed why not just play in retroarch? what am I missing with why hyperspin is even needed?

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  7 років тому

      anthony sweat You can do whatever you want, however you want. There is a large community that does this, and puts it all inside of an actual arcade machine for game rooms, etc. Then, it's about being functional with a great presentation too. If it's not necessary for you, and all you're concerned with is playing the games, then no, don't do it. You should look into Gamesome if you'd like to play games, have box-art, with a decent presentation, AND it's super simple.

      Fizzle Diz awesome dude thanks. I wasn't trying to sound like a butt I appreciate the vids. I will look into that ya I just wanna simple way to play I will check out gamesome. :)

      @FizzlesHere  7 років тому

      anthony sweat no problem bro, I didn't take it the wrong way. I know hyperspin is more complicated than it should be, but once you understand it, it's very satisfying and nothing looks better. Gamesome is a much simpler look, and a much simpler process to set up. Either one is still a good alternative to just a plain-jane list of game titles. Good luck bro

    Or is it parameter=cores/Mupen64Plus

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  8 років тому

      Per the link I sent you,
      "Examples of retroarch core parameters
      Atari 2600 core:
      parameters=cores/stella_libretro_android.so
      PSX core:
      parameters=cores/pcsx_rearmed_libretro_neon_android.so"
      So the mupen64 core from retroarch would be
      parameters=cores/mupen64plus_libretro_android.so
      Don't capitalize any letters you see aren't capitalized to begin with.

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  6 років тому

      damarlboromans For real lol. The issue(s) i see are that not everyone uses the same emulators for each system, some people dont have or want certain consoles emulated, not everyone adds videos for each game to Hyperspin, and the possible legal issues for bundling all the roms together. It's pretty complicated, but worth it once you finish.

      im willing too pay for them and i see romcollector.com sells the roms for different systems so could i just buy them and unzip them and use those for hyperspin on the shield?

    • @FizzlesHere
      @FizzlesHere  7 років тому

      Garrett Ling personally I wouldn't pay for something I know I can get for free. The only good thing I see about that site is that it's "Hyperspin ready". That means all the games, album art, info, etc is labeled correctly so hyperspin should have no issues. I'm sure if you searched around, you could get something better. Coolroms is an example of a site where you can download individual roms. Snes, nes, Sega games, etc would download crazy fast and be free. The only issue could be the naming style. If you download "Donkey Kong" but hyperspin is looking for "Donkey Kong (US)", then it won't play until you rename one of them. Google around till you can find (free) hyperspin rom collections, they're out there. That's my advice.
