I hiked the ridge this last March after it dumped 13 inches overnight. Ski patrolling is a job that needs to be taken seriously. I would like to thank all the wonderful people at solitude.
what a stellar place! Some of the very best resort skiing in Utah for sure. Though I've skied quite a few, there's many lines to scope and ski, and some only possible under absolutely prime conditions. Lone Tree Chute and Shot 22 are among the best. :)
Sadly, I went to ski in Utah in early February 2018. I planned my journey there months before and there was absolutely no snow in the area except on the mountain peaks. But Brighton and Solitude were great places and very underrated. I also went to the much more touristy Park City but it felt way to commercialized. I didn’t try out Snowbird or Alta.
Man that bootpack looks so scary. i was able to go out the gad 2 touring gate at snowbird this season and i was able to get an untracked run on tempation chutes. even that hike was kind of scary once on the ridge. there were a few cornices up there and it was starting to heat up.i also found an actual bomb hole from the hwilizer.
I was heading up hwy 2 on a killer bluebird 14” day to ride Stevens Pass and as I rounded the corner at Tunnel creek I passed a tank heading the opposite direction, we were the only two cars on the road and the first thought that came to me was “what the F is it Armageddon and nobody told me”
I truly love the video but totally agreed, the music is too loud and over powers the video and is completely annoying. Terrible sound on an otherwise great video.

I see these guys everyday on Summit, bless them all for their bravery and hardwork mitigating the avalanches.
For a short period of time, I worked with you, Ian. It was back in 2000, I remember you showing me some great terrain!
Awesome! That music is killing me though. Sounds like a video game
Solitude is EPIC....Ian is a serious man!
well now its actually more ikonic..
Nice avalanche results from the control work in this video, wow.
Thank you for doing your best to keep everyone as safe as possible! Utah ski patrol and avalanche control is top notch in my book.
Thanks man Solitude is a great mountain with reasonable lift ticket prices.
Those guys do a great job. And no, there is still a ton of powder when they are done.

Was there on a patrol exchange long time ago, think I may have met you then Ian. Great place, people and terrain.
That was nicely done, daily footage...

hiked fantasy ridge a couple weeks ago with the backtracks program. Cant wait to come back next year!
Before Ikon must have been amazing
i have skied will two of duty ski patrollers (australian... eek) in my life. they were both definately 'out-of-bound' skiers. fantastic experience
also on the first time, i found the ski out along the exposed ridge more daunting than the shute.
I love honeycomb!
4:08 The snow crystals blowing around in the air vanish during the instant of the blast, when for a brief moment they are moving too fast to see.
That could be my dream job!!!
It takes a lot of training and dedication, but we agree, a really unique and exciting aspect to ski patrol/mountain safety in Utah!
BOOM!
Solitude is an amazing place
We couldn't agree more!
Train up big cottonwood. Tram to little cottonwood and Park city.
super

Щось там варнякає. Можна помовчати і просто подивитись, як штучно створюють лавину?
Drop the music...booom...
I would pay them to let me do that job.
some great avalanche and interview footage...some awful music.
....fantasy....
