I just got the 212 version of this amp. It is very close to sounding like a tube amp. The EQ controls are sensitive, which I like. I thought about swapping the speakers for a couple of Celestions , but it is not really necessary. The amp sounds great as it is. Great amp for jazz, blues, and rock. If you want to chug go with the Laney Ironheart Foundry series - more high gain.
I despise high gain or virtually any overdriven sound that isn't reminiscent of Robben Ford. This amp would work for me, a home player, who is into country guitar and a bit of jazzy tones.
" I don't swear in my videos" That is a true statement in my experience and I believe that to be a classy move. Though it was nice to see that Landon is just a regular Joe. Great video.
Hey Landon! I’ve been enjoying your travel log videos quite a bit! Seems your trans Atlantic visit with Henning is turning into an amazing adventure and experience! He seems to be a great host, co conspirator and accomplice! Thanks for bringing us along it’s been a blast 💥!!! (Pun intended)
Coming from a guy whose played tube Amps his whole life and been told to turn my amp down lately so quiet that the rig barely works properly…these are a godsend…I have the LOUDPEDAL version and the DI IR’ is an absolute gem to work with…you can monitor it with the amplifier side and sound great going to the board at the same time…the best solution out there right now in that aspect for modern players club gigging…is this stuff perfect no, but man is it workable…no menus…no lost settings…etc…and the best part…no more Blues Junior!!!
These look very nice. Laney makes great amps. I currently have a Blues Cube Hot and love it. Prefer it over a Blues Jr actually that a friend lent me once. Mainly because the blues jr at low volumes didnt like it much, and at high volumes was too loud for my needs. The BCH sounds awesome any volume, really I personally dont see any reason to get a tube amp in my sitation I cant put them at loud volumes. And even if I could the Blus Cube hangs in there nicely and is lighter as well and easier to mantain.
You just love that George Harrison riff when you're demoing guitars or as in this case a sweet sounding Laney amp with some very cool features: love the built in chorus.
Looks like GearStreet42 was yet another success! It’s like going to a clown convention for guitar UA-camrs- totally awesome shenanigans + guitars! 🤘🏻😎🤡🎸❤️ Glad you learned about some cool gear to share with us and that the trip was a success!
Did you try with dirt pedals in front too? Cause the tonemaster sounds valvey when clean but as soon as you put distortions on it that’s when it sounds completely different
Yeah he missed all kinds of stuff. Not a good video. Has killer fx loop. Has an adjustable I.R. Switch in back. From OFF/2x12/4x12 and an XLR connection for going straight to board/pa. When using the XLR the amp itself still sounds. So you have front of house from XLR with IR choice, and you still have the amp sounding for you on stage. It’s a sick amp and it takes pedals VERY well.
@@friedrudibega6384 🤣🤣for an intermediate player 🤣🤣 Or how about for those of us who have played it and know first hand how awesome it is. More controllable and better rear panel than all of my Fender tube amps and 60lbs lighter than my JVM 212C, but what do I know?🤣
I returned this amp after a few hours. It's not really that tube-like. The way the boost function operates is really annoying - if you find a boost level for the clean channel you like you're stuck with that for the drive channel as well. I've had some great Laney's in the past - VC30 and VC50 combos.
Thing is badass BUT, it sounds very noisy. Would love to have heard it through a few different guitars that most ppl have. Like an SSS Fender, a Gibson Les Paul type and maybe even something like a cheap Squier. But it does sound obnoxiously noisy.
I want to love this amp. The Fender Gtx mustang just for the fender clean tones alone wins. If I was going to get a ss non digital this might be it. Orange 60 and Blackstar debut would be the other contenders. The Blackstar 200 less might have better cleans.
You got that right. Probably why horn players, piano players, and violin players are such great musicians. They don't obsess over every part of their instrument the way guitar players do.
The amp sounds good but don't like the reverb, something about it gets in the way of the guitars tone.. Sounds like this amp was built for classic rock !
I thought there was something very unusual in your commentary that I hadn't heard before. That Laney solid state amp had quite the effect. More profanity please.( just kidding)
Yes it's good. Is it as versatile as the Katana Gen3 - No. The best amps of today all sound like tube amps. Get the sound and ditch the reliability issues. Tubes are on the brink of extinction.

@@jerryshade4333 mines coming tomorrow. I know it's not a metal amp but how does it handle palm mutes? Can it get some chunk to it?
@@MGCardaropoli It seems to me this amp responds well to techniques, dynamics, palm mutes are good.

Oh snap! It's Paul! You got to visit all the cool people.
Cool! Seems to be pretty close to my Tech21 Trademark 60 - also solid state and sounds absolutely tube-y and gorgeous :)
This is absolutely the collab that I needed!!
Also Landon, I love your appreciation for George too!

Duuuude!!!! I love it when the UA-cam Continents get together! Like Deadpool and Wolverine teaming up (well, almost as exciting ;-) .
Laney amps are super underrated
Paul is such a cool dude
That's pretty great sounding. And not too expensive either.
It is an Amp I been wanting since it came out. Cheers
Such a dope guitar!
thank you for making this, for some reason this amp isn't getting the hype it deserves. it's really unique at this pricepoint and feature set.
wouldn't mind a lower power one with a 10 inch speaker
Great video! I just grabbed myself the 2x12 version!
Nice!
Hey Landon, great to see you at gear street. Keep up the good work 👍
Hey, thanks!
Very impressive sounding and great looking amp. My first amp was a Laney Mighty Eight , 40 years ago.
I miss my Laney. I wish they’d reissue it. I had a Laney VC30 with upgraded speakers. Basically a 2x12 box ac-30.

Join us Laney players, Landon! 🤘
That reaction was hilarious lmfao

I didn't
I said, please dont sneeze like James did that time. haha
How good it take pedals? any fx loop? it comes with a foot switch? that important part is missing out... hope for another video... thanks
@@jesusbacca8164 I was on location in Germany with that amp. There won’t be a follow up 😁

Sounds really good for solid state. It’d be a great amp for an intermediate player. It definitely sounds good enough to gig with.
🎸👍
Thats a strange comment to say its for an intermediate player. This van be pksyed in a professional set up.

Thats what Alex Hutchings's thought when he was playing this amp and his recent Laney Guitar clinicworld tour, he thought it was a tube haha
You made me order one

Sounds ok for a practice-amp - effects are very good though.
I wonder, What qualifies to you as gig amp?
Maybe something 1k+
I’d get this amp if I knew the line out sounded good through a PA.
What is "warmth" anyway ( 12:37 )? I still don't know exactly what it means 🤷🏻♂️😂

I am shocked. Maybe I should have hired an electrician.
Laney seems to be the only thing rightly priced in my country.
Other amps has this horrible import/markup fees
