I love your videos! They have helped me so much. How do you make a mood board template?
Canva.con has some easy templates to follow but most often we create super simple Pinterest boards 🤗
@@LittleBirdBloom Thank you, I will give it a try.
hi there, I do high end floral design for showrooms, in high quality silks and naturals, think I maybe am not charging enough. the showroom is actually going to put their markup on the piece and sale to the public, so I would say I am doing wholesale work. what is your formula for pricing this way. oh btw am in NC, that matters in pricing for the area of the country am in.
What about going about it on a per-hour or project fee basis? You could do a smaller mark-up on the florals but the bulk of the revenue comes from your expertise / time / knowhow 💖
Is there a special software you’re using to count the stems and identify the flowers?
I did this recipe using Google Sheets and when it comes to picking ingredients, I'll always suggest going with the flowers that you love best. But what's awesome these days is that you jump on Google and type in 'what flower is this' + upload a photo it'll tell you 🤗
could you please send me the download for the spreadsheet?
Hi Kent! Please email (admin@littlebirdbloom.com.au) if you require assistance locating any of our resources. We will be happy to help 🌻

How do you justify x5? What is that based on?
Such a great question! The most common formula florists follow is wholesale X 3.5-4 +30-50% so you can always use that equation.
I found it really clunky and too time consuming to do all that math every time out. x5 approach gives you a similar result and I found it so much faster to navigate.
@@LittleBirdBloom I think what I’m asking is if a client asks how do I justify x3,4,5? Is this the time taken to make it? Is it the time washing buckets and vases, do you get what I mean ? I just need to know what it’s based on ? Is this including a profit or is this the cost of my salary and overheads and also a helper ???
@@LittleBirdBloom x5 is 500 percent mark up ?
@@helencarson9295 I'm not sure - I'm not good with percentages.
If anyone is a florist would know why this quote may makes sense:
- item eval and ordering ( I up my stem counts 10% just because there are always broken, perished stems somewhere in the bunch)
- item pick up and drop off (many florists & small businesses have to actually do this step themselves to save costs for their clients instead of the whole seller just shipping it to them-so you’re welcome!)
- flower prep & processing
- design/ arrangement/ styling
- assistants/helpers
- setup and breakdown
Weddings and similar events usually need 26-31 hrs of dedication and work (at least for the business owner alone) So let’s dig in::
So let’s say they’ll charge another 200$ for delivery, this particular quote would be roughly 4400$, right? Okay, let’s subtract the cost: 4400-900= $3500. However this is not what the florist takes home for themselves, why? let’s divide that by not even 30hrs of work, but 26 hours! That brings you to $134/hr, so now the business owner has to divide this between all the people involved: their floral designers, florist assistance , pickup/setup/breakdown/delivery people and themselves.
Let’s not forget the reality here, one person can’t do it all; It’s a team effort to make these beautiful pieces come to life. So if anyone would actually sit and do the math, they’ll figure out how little the florist ends up with actually. And that’s unfortunate to see there is no transparency in our industry regarding how much time and effort goes into every single project. We all need to talk about it more often. We need to educate clients because once they understand they’d appreciate it more.
This was amazing! Thank you sooooo, so, so much! 🫶 i’m starting and i find this very right
It was so helpfull
