John Butner They are doing one. Recently announced FT-08 Grinder: www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-3rd-party-discussion/1043452-fanstoys-grinder-grimlock.html
Paik4Life Thanks again Paik! XD It looks so much like the official and I am not super happy about that. The shoulders and chest looked deformed, oh well, at least he should be the right size.
Wow, this is a great figure and a great review. There's definitely some scary chrome on chrome action as well as that arm panel swivel that could ruin some of the shininess of it in the long run.
eyescovered Yeah, there are some rub areas that you definitely want to be mindful of, but still a great figure from the people over at Fans Toys. They continue their trend of greatness! ~Paik
Paik4Life Unfortunately, I don't have the money/space for these. I decided to go for the ToyWorld versions since they look the most G1 to me (and you get a weird but cool combiner mode as a bonus). I don't own any Fans Toys figures, but I am looking forward to their Tesla. Perceptor was a G1 toy favorite of mine as a kid!
eyescovered Toy World's are the only dinos I haven't played with extensively or reviewed. I think all the dinos have their strengths and weaknesses. I love the idea of the combiner dinobots but as an MP collector, I want as close to cartoon as possible! Tesla looks great and very G1. It'll be interesting to see how transformation works out because it looks very basic. ~Paik
Paik4Life They are very solid figures. Easy transformation. Very poseable. Good head sculpts. I'm getting the reprolabels for sure, they break up Roars huge red chest with some nice details. Hoping labels for Muddy are on the way, too. Lack of swivel in the wrists was a disappointment, but I can overlook it. No movement in the neck for Muddy's dino mode is also a bummer, but the head is poseable. The weapons are also a little lacking, but they are going for a G1 look. I'd recommend them for sure.
Great review! This guy is looking good! Unlike you I am in the Gigapower camp for my dinobots only...but I do love FT's work. I just dig the G1 toy version for the Dinobots a bit more than the toon version. I am looking forward to seeing their Sludge and hopefully Grimlock homages they should be nice figures.
in comparison, scoria ft-04 has a different golor color chrome? i heard scoria ft-04t has a darker color gold chrome. maybe matches the rest of the Dibots.
tomi christian I'm not sure about FT-04T. Are we ever going to see that : ) Each of the dibots has had different chrome though. It's one of the common complaints we've had so far. It doesn't bother me THAT much, but it still does. ~Paik
collguyjoe99 In Charlotte I'll be helping out Toy Dojo at their booth, so stop by and say hi. I would say look for the Asian guy but last time our group of vendors (FP/MT, Madhaus Toys, MMC, Renderform and Friends, and Toy Dojo) were 95% Asian. : ) ~Paik
I think they just didn't get his tail perfect. It should be upward more and less wide. Should go about with shoulders but point up. That's my biggest complaint about Sever. In alt mode, I hate they didn't give him a better head socket. With Scoria, I think the big dino head needed to go down a lot - it looks pretty unsightly but not horrible. He looks way too tall with it, and the head went down more in cartoon.
I just got Sever yesterday. He seems to be well made, but I wish, more than anything, the tail would fold up so it would look more like the cartoon and wouldn't be so wide. I think the chest would have been better, too, if they had not made it such an abrupt wide then slim but had a little place to snap in the legs to create the dino mode but had a better flow from chest to torso. If anyone followed me there. Biggest gripe is the tail for me, I wish it folded up behind his arms like it looks in the cartoon. However, it can bend back but it makes him very deep. He is almost perfect, but I think Scoria look better, imho. Scoria is far looser, more jiggly, though. Sever seems a little too wide compared with Scoria, who I think is proper width. That's my picky impression, I still think he is about an 8/10. One other thing I think FT didn't nail is the head sculpt. He is a little too "pretty" when he just needs to be that funny looking Neanderthal look he had in cartoon. I guess those head sculpts are tricky business to pull off, so many are not nailing it exactly like the cartoon appears to me.
Do you think these toys or any transformers are worth collecting for future resale??i buy a lot of transformers but I don't really play with them, I want to pass them down to my kids if I ever decide to have one lol....which ones do you think are worth getting?i usually just buy masterpieces and Year of whatever that come out for Chinese lunar new year.
silverdc5 I definitely have no clue. I don't know how valuable 3P stuff will be to be honest or even official stuff. I think there's probably tons of better investments in the long run than toys for your kids : ) I'm predominantly an MP collector myself and as "high end" collectibles, they probably have a decent shot of being worth more in the future, but only time will tell. Who knows, maybe the future will look back and say transforming robots are idiotic and there will be no value to these other than sentimental. ~Paik
Paik4Life great review ad always Paik! I messaged you at tfw as dCon since we've had brief conversations before but didn't hear back yet. I'm still watching your reviews because your so damn informative with your reviews! If I ever need help transforming something id just watch your review first. Most time I just watch for fun as I'm pretty good with robots transforming from even the revenge of the fallen days so that's usually not an issue. But with warpaths 3rd party I'd DEFINITELY use that review. Anyways I really got to order then fans toys soar and sever before their gone. I don't like Scoria as much from what I've seen so I'll prolly wait on him. Thanks for keeping my eyes occupied while I wait on pre orders ;)
They still haven't fixed that hole on bottom 8-O Oh man, come on Fans Toys you can fix that surely to goodness and mercy. That is quite atrocious. A fix coming with Sludge/Stomp? That's pretty shady business decision even though I do like FT a lot, that's dirty to do. With all that said, I'm getting Stomp anyway and can't imagine anyone isn't.
John Butner Yeah it's been a long road. They are making some additional changes to the head sculpt and to the legs, which is probably the cause for the delay. Should be out end of the month/early July though.
youmongrel Yeah, that's a big annoyance. I think the issue is that they've moved factories since Scoria, which causes all sorts of new issues regarding fine tuning details. But I am with you 100%. Matching would be ideal.....
Paik4Life Have you received the final piece yet? Mine's on the way for next Tuesday, wondering if they followed through and matched the gold chrome to Soar at least.
great review. very informative. keep up the good work
Man, they better do their own Grimlock; I have been banking on them doing one.

Great review. Where did you get that Autobot sticker for his chest?
mesmeria74 Both the one on the head and chest are from reprolabels : ) Hope that helps!

Great Job! You going to TFCon?>
collguyjoe99 Yeah I'm 100% going to TFcon Charlotte and am strongly contemplating making the drive up to TFcon Canada. What about you?
~Paik
Paik4Life I'll be going to Charlotte. Can't get the time off for Toronto, which is an amazing city as well.
collguyjoe99 In Charlotte I'll be helping out Toy Dojo at their booth, so stop by and say hi. I would say look for the Asian guy but last time our group of vendors (FP/MT, Madhaus Toys, MMC, Renderform and Friends, and Toy Dojo) were 95% Asian. : )
~Paik
When is TFcon and will there be any discount on transformers when buying at the show?lol sorry am cheap
Paik4Life I'll see you there! I buy about 98% of my stuff from Ed as well. I'll have to break out my Dojo shirt as well

Sorry Cdog Cdog, I meant to get back to you. I just replied to you on TFW! : )

This guy is still in pre-production? Wow, they are either going very slow or really wanting to do this guy right or something else.
John Butner Yeah it's been a long road. They are making some additional changes to the head sculpt and to the legs, which is probably the cause for the delay. Should be out end of the month/early July though.
Paik4Life Great! I don't mind them taking all the time they need. I wish XTB had taken more time with Apollyon. Thank You, Paik
John Butner For wanting to get it "really right" you'd think they could have matched either the gold OR the reds with his teammates. Aggravating.
youmongrel Yeah, that's a big annoyance. I think the issue is that they've moved factories since Scoria, which causes all sorts of new issues regarding fine tuning details. But I am with you 100%. Matching would be ideal.....
