My mom quilted, too. I never paid attention, and how I regret it now. She died in 2007, and I only just recently, on the 13th anniversary of her death had the strength to open up a barrel of scraps she left me. I'm now muddling through sorting, washing and ironing all the scraps and beginning a scrappy quilt.
I really enjoy your videos found them a few days ago. Live in north Alabama USA. Have made a few quilts. I am a 77 yr. old widow and live alone. I do a lot of crocheting. Enjoy your videos while crocheting.
The quilts are just beautiful...and such a nice memory. I was thinking of my mom today, too. She did wonderful embroidery..she would do dish towel sets and she gave many away as gifts. A quilting cousin made hers into a quilt and last year she sent it to me..I treasure it. Today we are getting snow..AGAIN...and I was feeling pretty down (it was 70 degrees yesterday!) After my mom died I kept some of her supplies and today I decided to sort through it...I found a towel she had started. It has two little bluebirds embroidered and felt a bit like a hug telling me spring will eventually get here! I dusted off my supplies and am going to finish it! Mom memories are the very best!
I grew up in a house where embroidered items and other handmade objects were everywhere. As a teenager, I was asking mom about a couple of my favorite pieces, and if she still had the patterns etc. .. I was informed she did not do those- my dad did- as a boy.... bluebirds on a pillowcase and a bedspread with a cross-stitched basket overflowing with embroidered flowers and other flower sprays scattered all over. ... thanks for the reminder of treasured memories. yes, our memories of our loved ones are the absolute best.
how lovely! I said in another video that I'm no embroider - these memories of yours make me wish i was - I think I should persevere - and i love thinking of your dad making such delicate things - and why not! xxx lovely memories both of you xxx
One direction...CHEEKY! In my estimation, the term Lol is very much overused, but I actually did laugh out loud at that! I have been intending to do a trip around the world quilt for some time, and I think your lovely idea may be just the inspiration I have needed. I loved the photo of you with your dear Mum, and very much look forward to hearing about your next Liberty project. Thanks for sharing your world with us!
you are one of a very few people who got that reference - well done - I think the rest of them just think I'm a little crazy - no mistake there then! xxx
I’m almost embarrassed to say this, but I’ve been hooked on ‘cops’ videos before I go to bed, but I’ve become hooked on you Kate! Your lovely videos, cats, tea, backgrounds, music, windows, kitchen, sidetracks lol etc.! I go to bed with a smile on my face instead of shaking my head at the other videos! Thank you for putting in so much time to bless so many others. Take me away Kate! Night! 💤 🛌 😴
I am now a subscriber thanks to Arne and Carlos :) Thanks to them, I've been enjoying all of your videos. I made a quilt for my daughter 30 years ago with the help of a friend and have never attempted because I don't trust the accuracy of my cutting and seam skills, but this one looks easy enough that I might try to do a wall hanging. All of your quilts are lovely especially the one you made for your mom because of the memories that go with it. Keep making videos about your quilts :)
What a lovely idea. Lots of memories for both of you. You will always feel her love for you when you wrap up in her gift to you. Love the quilt on the wall. Lovely memories.
I adore your videos. I recently ( December 7 th 2018) lost my son to cancer. He was only 39 just weeks from his birthday. He had three sons and a wife my beloved daughter in law he left behind besides me his dad and siblings. It has been excruciating and nearly impossible to go on. But strangely I stumbled on your channel and it has taken me out of my own brain. I binge watch and your positive attitude and beautiful simple yet incredible life allows me to escape. Thank you! I’m a Patreon and I want to up my tier so you are able to continue making these videos. I can’t even say which I prefer, everyone of them have been a blessing. 🌺
Hello Just Me I'm so sorry to hear about your recent sad loss x sending you love and hugs🤗 💚 I'm so glad you stumbled across Kates channel and you find it uplifting, bringing you some happiness and joy to your life! It sounds like you have a beautiful family around you!😊 belonging to Kates channel is like an extra family everyone is so lovely and supportive x Kate is a little gem and brings love and happiness into this world.💗 Thinking of you take care Paloma x
Paloma Loredo thank you for reaching out. Kate is certainly a blessing. I read the comments and find birds of a feather do flock together. Like yourself just lovely bunch of humans! 🌺
hello you two - I really love how everyone in the comments is so supportive and helpful. Just Me - welcome to my Patreon Family - more lovely support over there - when I work out what your name is I will send you a message. I hope the pain lessens as the days pass but your son will be hugely missed by you and his young family - I can't begin to imagine what that must be like ... Take care and look after yourself and those lovely grandchildren xxxxxxx
I happen to like that funky music! It's happy music!! Thank you. And thank you for the beautiful story of your mom and your "dueling" quilts. What a fantastic idea. I made a quilt for my mom years ago and when she passed, I brought it home and it's with me always. Great snuggler when it's freezing cold! I did a log cabin. First quilt I ever finished. Imagine making a quilt for a master seamstress. Kind of like bringing coals to Newcastle!!! Did I really see a pic of the boy band, One Direction???? Honestly Kate, you are so funny! Thanks for this evening's chuckle. That method of like the bargello, right? Beautiful colours, Kate. Have a great day (I'm just going to bed and you're almost ready to wake up).
Cheryl - you are one of only a handful who have any idea why One Direction turned up for a second in that video - my little joke which took forever and probably confused most folk! xxx ha ha! and yes - the same method for the visual treat that is bargello xxxx
@@thelasthomelyhouse I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed but it's not that easy to pull the wool over my head. A person HAS to be sharp if they're going to keep up with you! Well, it's snowing again!!. We're getting the edges of the storm going throught the midwest up through Minnesota and into Ontario, Canada. Is it EVER going to be spring?? I'm going to curl up under that quilt and do some cross stitching. Hugs, Kate and have a wonderful day!!
The story of you and your Mom making quilts for each other made me cry a little. My Mom is not a quilter, in fact none of my family or friends are quilters. I so enjoy watching your channel. It is very soothing to the soul to listen to you talk, cook, love on your cats, sew and work in your garden. I love your pink room.
Your mum sounds a lot like my mom. She made hundreds of quilts for family, friends and charities. At her funeral, we had many of her quilts hanging over the pews at the church. It was beautiful.
What a lovely idea! Can I share my story even tho it has nothing to do with quilting? 😉 My Mom loved wearing beautiful hats so all of the ladies in the family wore her collection of hats to her funeral. She would have loved it!
Thank You for sharing the story about You and Your Mom. I lost my Mom 4 years ago this month, I never did make her a quilt. I started one several years before she passed but never got the chance to finish it.It would have been my first quilt. Your story Touched me deeply along with the fact that You were so willing to share with Us the Quilt the two of you made for each other. Again.... THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING.
What a precious thing to do with your mom. A very nice memory to cherish. As for the trip around the world........Girl.....nothing to it....😨........hahaha.....Maybe if you've done it a few times. But never seen it done before.....hmmm.....I know I can do it, slowly....with your video as a guide. Thank you. I think it would be lovely in a pallet of aqua. (my favorite color, anywhere from seafoam green to watery blue. I'm a water lover) You are giving me a lot of inspiration, but I am still knitting socks. I'm getting really good at it.😉
people will always need socks! I find that even now - after making a fair few of these - I still need to number them - it saves getting into a muddle - just take your time and you'll be fine! xxx
what a lovely thing to share with your Mum who looks like a real treasure...I recently lost my darling mother Margaret at 87...its one of the hardest of life's lessons, losing ones mother...but she was ready to go to her heaven and I was lucky to have her until I was 63 and she left me with 5 siblings (+ 1 decd) so she had a very full life with 7 kids and lots of extended family...Marg was a cross stitcher (as was Dad) & I treasure the ones I have that they made & one of my Grans..thankyou for sharing your lovely story and your crafts Kate...I was looking for Norma :)
my Mum was 93, never one for giving up on a project! she had a great life. it felt really appropriate for her to go when she did. It's the people here who are telling me about their own child, or a young parent ... thats where the tragedy lies and I can't imagine what that must be like. xxxxx
@@thelasthomelyhouse 93 is a great innings..you're right, losing a child is the worst thing that can happen & its something I thought I would never get over but it is amazing how resiliant we humans can be when part of us feels missing...that's what I love about craft..it can fill holes in our lives with something beautiful...including the people we share them with
Hello Kate ~ That is the quilt around the world block that I would like to try some day. It is the very middle section that I am stumped on. I did try Eleanor Burn`s quilt around the world layout which does give you a very uneven top and bottom. At least mine came out that way. Plus she used the full length of the strips to sew into a tube. If you decide to make another quilt your way please show what you do for the middle. TIA. Enjoy your week and thanks for the video.
Busy Beaver Just a tip.If you are sewing the full fabric width and strips, you can get bowing or curving. To avoid this alternate when sewing the strips. One, top to bottom, the next bottom to top, the next top to bottom, etc. First time I sewed strips, it bowed so much it looked like a rainbow. So much, that the teacher asked for it as an example of what not to do, lol..happy quilting
oh - that's always a bad sign if the teacher uses it as what NOT to do! I have more info on this block - I'll add that in when we get started with the Liberty series - xxx
Wonderful! I am from MUMBAI INDIA I love watching you teach quilting so systematically. You are sharing your experiences n knowledge which you got from your MOM as a BLESSING. GOD BLESS you n your family.
Greetings from SunShine Farm Alma, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦 Thank you for sharing and showing us this quilt, Trip around the World. I was inspired to create this quilt after I saw yours completed. Your demonstration is wonderfully gentle and fun to watch and gives us the confidence to have fun too and make quilt pattern of The Trip Around The World. I watch you daily and now start my mornings off knitting after your example. It's wonderful visiting each day sitting on the green sofa with YOU too. Blessings, GiGi In Vintage
I was just getting used 2 there being 2 Kates in each video (Host Kate and Editor Kate) … now Director Kate is showing up putting her 2 cents in. I hope you three are getting along.....lol. Thank You for another great quilting lesson. I need them.
Lovely quilts that you and your Mom swapped. I love this idea. I'm going to plan on swapping with my Sister Julie. Our mom hand quilted many, many years ago. We lost her at the young age of 53 in an auto accident. She and I have carried on her love of sewing/quilting/cross stitch. Thank you again for sharing this will us.
Oh my favorite pattern! A large central pattern like for your Mum's quilt is the first quilt I made. Best bang of a big effect for your buck, only straight seams, and it looks so complicated but isn't. LOVE.
I love your story, your blocks, your voice and your shirt, thanks for sharing all of it. I had to smile big when you ended with the comment that you were going to share the postage stamp block. Somewhere in recent history I saw it on a Facebook posting, downloaded the picture and set it as my screen background and just stared at it, trying to figure out how it was made. It looks like stained glass. You are a treasure, thank you, and of course you have a new subscriber!!
Question... on ‘tube 5’ you picked it up and said “that one”... did you flip it over? Thank you! I just bought my first jelly rolls and plan on using your technique! Very excited !! Thank you
What an absolutely brilliant idea to exchange quilts with your Mum. My Mum doesn't make quilts but she sure enjoys the ones my sister and I have made for her. I infected/got my sister into quilt making. She doesn't have the quilting bug quite as bad as me though. When I attended my first quiltmaking class I just knew I had found what I had been looking for. Thank you for your video. I just know I would get muddled very easily so I very much appreciated your tips on how to keep things organised.
maybe you could try this with you and your sister? and yes - anything that can keep me from getting muddled is a good idea - I'm easily confused!!! xxx
@@thelasthomelyhouse we sort of did. She is fabulous at crocheting and I am not so when I received a crochet project at Christmas we did a swap. She made the scarf for me and I made a quilt top for her. She enjoys crocheting more than me and I enjoy quilt making more than her. I loved being able to make that quilt top for her.
Thank you, Kate for sharing your story of your Mom. I watched this after an especially difficult day with my Mom at the hospital. She is in hospice care for cancer and has been suffering a great deal of pain. I am an only child and my mother always encouraged my creativity and taught me to sew when I was quite young. It was comforting to watch your video and see your lovely quilts.❤️
Hello Roseanna Sending love and hugs to you and mum🤗💗this is close to my heart, so hope you're staying strong xx Well thank you for putting my day into perspective! I thought my day was going badly until I read your comments and realised how stupid and small these things are in comparison to what someone else is going through! Will be praying and thinking of you both take care xx
There are so many challenges we face - thinking of you Roseanna as you care for your Mum - harder when it is just you - I have two brothers and some really great nieces and nephews, plus my own three kids - I think we cared for my Mum at the end pretty well - but everyone has their own way of dealing with the difficult times in our lives - I hope you have some good people taking care of you - Paloma for one - I love how these commenters become a source of friendship - its rather amazing! xxx
The Last Homely House East of the Sea Thank you, Kate. I do have wonderful children who are a source of love and support. Yes, the internet has allowed me to make friends all over world as has travel. Is it the French who have the saying “The more it is different, the more it is the same.”? XO
Oh Kate what a fantastic story, both of the quilts are gorgeous but I have to say on I’m your mums side about greens, I love purples, lilacs & mauve but my absolute favourite colours are black, grey & white which I know your not a great fan of, the quilt your mum made you and the design she done is really lovely and the same with the one you made your mum, I thought that was a fantastic idea of you both making each other’s quilts . Thank you for sharing such a wonderful story & memories of your mum. 🤗 xxx
I love both yours and your Mom's quilts! Gorgeous. And I love how your Mom managed to put some purplish blocks into the one she made. Also a great tutorial on the block-thank you 🥰
What a beautiful story about you and your mum's shared love of quilting! My mom passed in 2014 (she was 100). She was an amazing seamstress (and cook) and she made quilts and had a handquilting suspension type frame she hung from the ceiling in the spare bedroom. I came late to them and my brothers as my parents were in their 40s. So though I remember her quilting on that frame, what I really remember is the zillions of quilts she made from polyester double knit fabric scraps. Those quilts will be around forever!! Mom never taught me to do anything but I learned through osmosis, I suppose. Anyway, I was making a spider web/string pieced quilt and told her I was making it for her. I'd gotten to the quilting and was doing that on the machine and was about done by the time I told her it was for her. She told me that she didn't want it. I was crushed! I tossed it in a basket - unfinished. My goal for 2020 is to finish it and give it to someone who will love it. I loved my mom and she adored me but she really had a way of crushing your spirit without meaning to.
@@thelasthomelyhouse take your time, make it nice and long 😉 Vienna has a market tomorrow morning, she has a wee business selling her handmade jewelry, she want to be a jewelry maker/designer when she grows up. Although it means I have to be up early on a Saturday morning to be her chauffeur and helper 😂
New subscriber here. Love your videos. The story of your mother was wonderful, and so are the pics. It sounds like she was a lovely lady. It makes me miss my mom. She was a sewer, but not quilts. She was a pattern maker and seamstress. Sadly, I got into sewing after she died, but I know I got my love of sewing from her. I love this pattern. Thanks so much for sharing.
Such a simple way to make Trip Around the World squares. I have two batik jelly rolls calling my name. I loved the story of your Mum and the quilts. They both were lovely.
Hello Kate..I must tell you my story about my very first effort with the 'Trip Around the World' quilt. I was very young and excited to get started, but I cut all my little blocks and started in the very middle...and continued my trip around the world sewing every stitch by hand and going around and around that very first block. Fabric I used was double knit and worked up quite nicely. My daughter still has that quilt. Put SO much work into it! I do love that pattern tho.
That’s awesome Kate, I’ve heard about and seen the trip around the world block, but have never seen it being made, thank you. 😊 I absolutely loved the photos of you and your dear Mum and the beautiful quilts you made for each other, very precious. ❤ I designed & made my darling Mum a quilt for her 75th birthday (& made the same one for myself,) mums birthday was the 10th and mine the 14th of October, she was 25 years old when I was born. We had a big party together for my 50th and her 75th, we always celebrated together. We were very close ❤ When Mum passed, I gave her quilt to my beautiful niece, her first born grand child. I like you, miss my darling Mum so very, very much! ❤️ from Australia 🇦🇺
Good morning Kate. Such a lovely story of quilts and your mum. Brought a tear to my eye. You must have been a teacher or maybe a Mum of many as I am, you have such a wonderful teaching style. Thanks for filming. Hope you have a great day.
My heart was touched by the lovely photo of you and your Mum, thanks for sharing that, and the story too. I can see how quilting would keep the mind sharp, I should have started when I was younger...HA! :-) The quilts all turned out beautiful!
What lovely idea to exchange fabrics with your mum. My very first quilt I made was the Trip around the world...omg it is so plain and ugly...didn’t have the knowledge or confidence in picking and matching colours..and there were no jelly rolls etc then. My daughter and granddaughters now enjoyed it as a picnic blanket 😂. It needs to be quilted again as the stitching has all come undone because I used invisible thread !...so Im thinking I’ll appliqué some leaves and flowers on it to brighten it up. 😆
Applique! ♥️ What a wonderful idea to "fix" a homemade quilt. I have one my Mom and her neighbor finished for me. I sewed the top while in between jobs after my daughter went to bed. My Mom's scrap bag of pinks & blues from years of sewing Easter dresses for all her granddaughters went into that quilt. Once I got a job, I couldn't find the time to finish it and she did it to surprise me. ♥️
Thank you for sharing your story about your quilt swap with your mom. My youngest daughter is a quilter and she lives in another state. She came home for Christmas last year and her gift to me was fabric and her time. We made a quilt together and got it done before she had to go home, I will always treasure the time we had working together and the quilt we made.
I just recently found your UA-cam channel videos. I've been quilting for years and I'm always looking for new ideas and inspiration. I made a Trip Around the World quilt years ago and enjoyed making it very much. I have to tell you that I loved your One Direction picture snuck in there as a visual reminder to press seams in "one direction" when appropriate. I love the band One Direction. I'm a 60 something year old woman who has been a fan of the band for about 9 years. Now I believe I will be playing their CDs while I piece and sew my quilts. Thank you so very much for your ideas and inspiration!
What a special story about you and your mum making quilts for each other. And thanks for a great video and the helpful hints. I did notice your curtains in the background too. Can't wait to watch that video. Thanks so much!
Hi Kate 👋. I can’t thank you enough for this video. I’m 72 years old and started quilting in the 80s when there was a quilt revival. But knitting has kept me busy of late and I really needed this refresher course for the quilt I’m going to make for my disabled son. I’ll keep my iPad right next to me every step of the way and be confident of the best results….thanks to you. 🥰
That is lovely and you can see where you get all your excellent skills from Kate. Your lovely Mum. I love this block and have never known how to make it. Another for my favourites list. Thank you for sharing this. :-):-)
Your video about the quilt your mum made for you and added her tag on the back to you inspired me to make a grandmothers garden quilt for each of my daughters. Brought back memories of my grandmothers quilts. My mom never did handstitching only sewing clothes for the 4 girls in my family. The video brought tears to my eyes and so grateful that you shared. I could not find that video again so I am commenting on this one. Thank you for all you share. I wish I could support you with money but I do with sharing your videos with all.
What a beautiful story. Tears...what great memory. Thank you. Love your videos. Love the one on the wall. Going to rethink Kaffe. Usually to bright foe me. A little bright might be right!
Hello from Texas! That was fun to watch and I enjoyed the "Playful" music clip. I like hearing the story and seeing the photo and actual quilt for your Mom. You're a fun teacher and person. :)
What a wonderful story of the quilt and your mum. I was making a baby block quilt for my mom in her favorite purples and lavendars, but she passed before I could finish it. I need to fi ish it for me. I made a Trip Around the World quilt in the year 2000 with 2 1/2 inch blocks from quilters exchange from around the world, 2000 blocks on top and on the back (backing has 2000 written all over the fabric) I put all the signature squares I received with the blocks.
What a wonderful story, thank you for sharing it. My mum was a great sewer but never got into making quilts. I think money was always the issue. My mum has been gone for around 20 years and I am 66, but I wish I could have spent more time with her sewing. Both quilts are beautiful. Sending well wishes from Australia.
Loved your video. Thanks for sharing the story about your mum and the quilt block. That certain quilt block brought back so many memories of my grandmother. She too was a hand quilter. For my first marriage she gave us a "Around the World" quilt. It was in what I call autumn colors. Browns and yellows.
Great story about your mom and you. Was thinking I would try this quilt but then you mentioned a scrappy block and think I will wait and check it out first. Thanks for sharing, both your stories and the quilt block😄
I’ve made and gifted a few trip around the world baby quilts. Loved making them. But this strip/tube method is revolutionary!! I can’t wait to try it. ❤❤❤
I love kaffe fassett! I’m enjoying your trip around the world tutorial! I’ve watched them many times. I grabbed 3 jelly rolls to make my first trip around the world.thank you Kate!
Wow‼️ wow‼️ wow‼️ wow‼️ What cool tricks! Turning it into a tube and opening up at different seams to stagger the fabric just blows my mind! Plus it ensures perfection when cutting! Thank you for sharing your incredible tricks!!!! I must apply this technique to using my home decor fabrics when I make my Decadent Digs!!! 🙌❤️💥
I'm sorry to say that you made me cry ... the love for your Mother touched my heart. I have also lost my Mother and would dearly love her to be here so I could make her a quilt. I would put a beautiful heart in the center of it to show her that she would always remain in my heart. I love the quilts (even though like your Mum green is not my "favourite" colour. But also admit that it has it's place of "necessity" in some quilts.) :) You made me feel like I was sitting with you having a tea and watching and learning as you very kindly taught everyone how to make your beautiful quilt. You make all your quilts with such Love. You were very blessed to have such a beautiful soul that you could call Mother. She must have been such a wonderful, caring and giving lady. God bless Mothers everywhere ... especially "yours" and "mine". :) And Thank You for not only being my Teacher but also making me feel like we were "old friends" ... (emphasis NOT on "old" lol)... Now I'm off to listen to the rest of your video and look forward to seeing many more. Thank you. :)
i watch your just because. you have lovely stories, great at explaining things, and you have a lovely accent. i especially love that your not fancy, in your own house as is. i feel like i have gone to your house for a visit. most on youtube have a fancy back grounds, and or studios blah blah blah. makes me feel distant from them. hugs to you and your lovely house, and lovely you!!!
Kate, I could watch quilting tutorials all day long. And the back story about the quilt and your mum is really sweet. I can't wait to finally find a house, to unpack my things from storage and re-acquaint myself with my sewing machine and fabric stash. A trip around the world is on the to-do list. Fun video. Take care. Regards from Oz.
Good afternoon flower, i had a wonderful mum too that taught me every craft that came to her. She was a perfectionist that liked things to be the best that they could be, but she was just so talented. Watching you make this Trip Around the World block, in the colours that you have, it made me think having listened to you telling us about your wonderful mum that she would have loved this block finished into a quilt as well. The trip around the world quilt was the first quilt that i fell in love with and hope to make it some day for myself. Weren't we sew (LOL)lucky to have such talented people in our lives to learn from. I am still on my first quilt(my sewing machines broke down, both of them) which is for my autistic grandson. He loves Toy Story, so that is the materials of the Disappearing Nine Patch that i have been making for him. I only have two more quilting seams to sew, before binding it. He has a double bed, even though he is only just turned 6, so it was a mammoth task doing it with only a little sewing space in my machines, but i've managed doing it from the middle outwards. Thank you for sharing your wonderful quilts with us and you have 1 new subbie. Crafty hugs from Norah, Glenochil Village, Scotland

The Last Homely House East of the Sea beautiful people here. Thank you.
LOVE 💓 LOVE your stories about your mum in fact your family. You and I could easily be friends.😜😜👍
You are blessed❣
@@ksharpe8137 THAT is really special🥰💜
I find that even now - after making a fair few of these - I still need to number them - it saves getting into a muddle - just take your time and you'll be fine! xxx
Good to see I'm not the only person who was challenged by this pattern. Love your tutorials on it.
I've been a quilter for 21 years and never made a trip around the world. Your instructions are good !
there's a tricky bit in the middle which i will explain next time i talk about this block xxx thank you xxx
such a nice story. You're lucky to have that memory of your mother. What a treasure. :)
what a lovely thing to share with your Mum who looks like a real treasure...I recently lost my darling mother Margaret at 87...its one of the hardest of life's lessons, losing ones mother...but she was ready to go to her heaven and I was lucky to have her until I was 63 and she left me with 5 siblings (+ 1 decd) so she had a very full life with 7 kids and lots of extended family...Marg was a cross stitcher (as was Dad) & I treasure the ones I have that they made & one of my Grans..thankyou for sharing your lovely story and your crafts Kate...I was looking for Norma :)
my Mum was 93, never one for giving up on a project! she had a great life. it felt really appropriate for her to go when she did.
Would love another video this week.
Wonderful! I am from MUMBAI INDIA I love watching you teach quilting so systematically. You are sharing your experiences n knowledge which you got from your MOM as a BLESSING. GOD BLESS you n your family.
Greetings from SunShine Farm Alma, Ontario, Canada 🇨🇦
Thank you for sharing and showing us this quilt, Trip around the World.
Blessings,

I was just getting used 2 there being 2 Kates in each video (Host Kate and Editor Kate) … now Director Kate is showing up putting her 2 cents in. I hope you three are getting along.....lol. Thank You for another great quilting lesson. I need them.
ahh - you noticed director Kate - she's very new on the job - I'm not sure she's up to the task to be honest!!! how lovely you are! xxx
Thank you again for sharing this will us.
oh - I'm sorry Lori - ten years younger than me and such a shock - I'm glad you and Julie might try this xxxx
I like your funky music. I love your curtains.
Haha Kate - One Direction!!! ❤️
so few people got that - I'm glad someone did or I would have felt a bit of a twit! it took me ages!!! xxx
Oh my favorite pattern! A large central pattern like for your Mum's quilt is the first quilt I made. Best bang of a big effect for your buck, only straight seams, and it looks so complicated but isn't. LOVE.
PS: The quilt-making-and-swapping story is so special. How I wish I had that experience with my crafting life. You're a lucky and talented one, Kate!
exactly - I love patterns that look complicated but are really easy! xxx
You are a treasure, thank you, and of course you have a new subscriber!!
welcome Joan! xxx postage stamp coming soon! xxx
Question... on ‘tube 5’ you picked it up and said “that one”... did you flip it over? Thank you! I just bought my first jelly rolls and plan on using your technique! Very excited !! Thank you
Hi Thanks for the tutorial and the lovely story about your mother and the quilts. Look forward to more quilting tutorials.
Hello Roseanna
Sending love and hugs to you and mum🤗💗this is close to my heart, so hope you're staying strong xx
Well thank you for putting my day into perspective! I thought my day was going badly until I read your comments and realised how stupid and small these things are in comparison to what someone else is going through!
Will be praying and thinking of you both take care xx
There are so many challenges we face - thinking of you Roseanna as you care for your Mum - harder when it is just you - I have two brothers and some really great nieces and nephews, plus my own three kids - I think we cared for my Mum at the end pretty well - but everyone has their own way of dealing with the difficult times in our lives - I hope you have some good people taking care of you - Paloma for one - I love how these commenters become a source of friendship - its rather amazing! xxx
Paloma Loredo Thank you, for your kind words. I appreciate them more than you know.❤️
The Last Homely House East of the Sea Thank you, Kate. I do have wonderful children who are a source of love and support. Yes, the internet has allowed me to make friends all over world as has travel. Is it the French who have the saying “The more it is different, the more it is the same.”? XO
Those quilts are beautiful. They are sewn with love that will be cherished and passed away on for generations to come.
Bless, thanks for sharing. I am pretty excited about the postage stamp curtains 😉
coming soon wendy - still filming it! xxx
It looks like fun !!!
Such a simple way to make Trip Around the World squares. I have two batik jelly rolls calling my name.
I loved the story of your Mum and the quilts. They both were lovely.
I have a couple of batik rolls too - so much fabric - so little time!!! xxx
I haven’t tried this block before. It certainly gives a nice pattern. Thanks Kate.
Beautiful idea sharing fabric with your Mum. You must miss her 💞
Hello Kate..I must tell you my story about my very first effort with the 'Trip Around the World' quilt.
Thanks, Kate!
Amazing... You make it sound so easy.
Beautiful story. What a treasured memory.
Good morning Kate. Such a lovely story of quilts and your mum. Brought a tear to my eye. You must have been a teacher or maybe a Mum of many as I am, you have such a wonderful teaching style. Thanks for filming. Hope you have a great day.
you rumbled me - I have taught in many places over the years - adults and kids - I really enjoy it xxx
My heart was touched by the lovely photo of you and your Mum, thanks for sharing that, and the story too. I can see how quilting would keep the mind sharp, I should have started when I was younger...HA! :-) The quilts all turned out beautiful!
You are such a lovely lady beautiful voice love your story beautiful quilts thanks for sharing Sydney Australia
So much love.
I like the idea of adding new elements to an old quilt - that sounds lovely! xxx
Applique! ♥️
What a wonderful idea to "fix" a homemade quilt.
Thanks for the beautiful video. Loved hearing about your Mother and enjoyed the quilt lesson.
I made my mother a trip around the world block using greens and blues, she used it every day until she died. I too now have that quilt back.
its a great memory to have xxx
I enjoyed your story!
What a precious photo of you and your Mum, and what a lovely thing for your Dad to give back to you. A very sweet memory! Thank you for sharing!
What a special story about you and your mum making quilts for each other. And thanks for a great video and the helpful hints. I did notice your curtains in the background too. Can't wait to watch that video. Thanks so much!
I love this video, thank you so much for sharing about your Mum, it brought a lump to my throat.
I am so glad you have had such a wonderful loving relationship with your mom
Love your music and love to sit around and chat all the while you ate teaching. Fabulous
Hello from Texas! That was fun to watch and I enjoyed the "Playful" music clip. I like hearing the story and seeing the photo and actual quilt for your Mom. You're a fun teacher and person. :)
Thank you Pattie xxx
What a precious relationship you and your mum had! Thanks for sharing this!
Love this idea thank you👍👍👍👍Purple and pink is my favorite have a Blessed day💜💜💜💜
Such of lovely story about your mum.
What a lovely quilt story.
Glad I've found you. What an incredible woman. xxx
Thank you!🍀
Really enjoying your videos and the beautiful fabrics. They are a little different from what we see in East Texas.
What a lovely story about you mom and you .!,, I am a beginner quilter and I love that pattern .. just beautiful!!!! Can’t wait for the stamp one ?.
coming soon!!! xx
Love the quilt your mom made and the pictures of you two , miss my mom too.
Lovely quilts and what a wonderful memory.
I like the 1 Direction reference, LOL love this block Thanks
Very calming and sweet. Thank you. ❤️
Two very lovely ladies, you and your mum! :)
Love your top my favourite colours
Oh how extremely special Kate, wonderful keepsake.
Great story about your mom and you. Was thinking I would try this quilt but then you mentioned a scrappy block and think I will wait and check it out first. Thanks for sharing, both your stories and the quilt block😄
yes - I'll be posting about that soon it's how I made my curtains xxx
I’ve made and gifted a few trip around the world baby quilts. Loved making them. But this strip/tube method is revolutionary!! I can’t wait to try it. ❤❤❤
Hence tge line green sofa. Now I get it. Your mum was beautiful and I've been wanting to know all about the round the world quilt. Thanks Kate
Thank you for sharing your stories and your quilts.
I love kaffe fassett! I’m enjoying your trip around the world tutorial! I’ve watched them many times. I grabbed 3 jelly rolls to make my first trip around the world.thank you Kate!
What a sweet picture of you and your mom and your quilts! Such a wonderful idea to share with her and now have such a treasure to keep. ((hugs))
Nice story about your mom. And the quilt exchange. Thanks Kate
Wow‼️ wow‼️ wow‼️ wow‼️
What cool tricks!
Loved your story about your Mum. It's always good to remember them. Luv u. My cat Delia and me
I'm sorry to say that you made me cry ... the love for your Mother touched my heart.
Thanks for sharing the lovely story about you and your Mum! I can't wait to try this block!
I hope that happens soon - It is so good to have a place to create - xxx
I love the story about you and your mum making quilts. I'll have to find someone who will do that with me. Here's some love for you from Montana, USA.
Oh you are a dream come true Kate. You make things looks so easy. I am going to give this a go. You make it look so simple. Thank you
Good afternoon flower, i had a wonderful mum too that taught me every craft that came to her.
What a wonderful idea. I have a quilt my grandma made me. My mom embroidered a table cloth with the 12 days of Christmas on it. I treasure them. I love the quilts and the memories you have of you and your mom.
