    I made a bog filter based on your design and after 2 days my water is crazy clear. Goldfish loving it. Thanks 🙏🏻

    Thx, I love learning of new "pond" plants to try, especially things that stay relatively small. I have mini ponds and the work of separating & thinning is getting too much!

    Been looking all over for these Impatiens, got 10 today, very fancy looking plants, need to get more to plant in the pond. I had planted a Chameleon plant that's thriving now, without any kind of soil, just kind of anchored it in gravel. It seems most of these water lowing plants, from my experience do pretty well without any kind of soil. One plant that doesn't seem to fancy it is these Horsetail Equisetum japonicum plants, it's pretty much turned to brown for me since I planted it 2 months ago, must be deficient in something.

      Yeap. All plants I have directly into the gravel. Only exception is my water lilies, those are in soil.

    Very nice video. Thank you, we get good knowledge from you every time.
    Sir can you please make video on treatment of fish diseases, such as fungal, bacterial and parasitic, for a planted garden pond. I came across these problems often, but is difficult to treat the whole pond with plants. Usually i use rock salt. But it will be of much use to many if you share your tips on treatments. Thank you very much.

      Thanks mate. It’s just not something I have enough experience with. I prefer to stick to topics I have first hand experience with.

    Have you ever kept corydoras in your pond? My favourite fish, I'd love to see them buzzing around outside.

    Texas has cold winters so how do I protect my plants and keep the bog waterfall from freezing?

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  3 роки тому +1

      G’day Lynnda. Don’t worry about the plants unless they are tropicals. You could either just treat them as an annual or bring them indoors for the winter if they are expensive. If like me you’ve planted perennials that are adapted to your climate they will be fine. It depends on the plant what maintenance you do. I like to trim off any plant that I know fully dies off for the winter as I don’t want that leaf material breaking down in the pond. Everything else I leave alone and might give it a tidy up in spring right before everything starts growing again. With your waterfall you should be able to keep it running year round in Texas. If you get a freeze you just want to ensure that as the ice builds up it doesn’t create a dam that will cause water to leak outside the liner. If you’re really worried you can turn everything off. If the weathers really cold the fish (I believe you have koi) will be in hibernation. Hope that helps.

    I will try that plant! Thanks. On another note...
    A whole family of raccoons destroyed my small heavy-planted pond (no casualties, liner still holds), so anyways now I gotta figure this out.... not sure what to do, except keep the fish oxygenated and sun's rising my plants are drying out i need to fix this now aaaaaaah!.... wondering if you have any experience with pest problems?

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  3 роки тому

      That’s terrible! So far I’ve not had any problems with pests.

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  3 роки тому

      I like the idea of them. They are very expensive and I’m too lazy to pull it out and over winter it. I really prefer small growing things that are easy to maintain and won’t send roots here, there and everywhere. But yes they do look spectacular in a pond.

    My inpatients didn't thrive in my pond. I have floating islands and haven't found any plants that will live very long.

    • @Ozponds
      @Ozponds  3 роки тому +2

      Is there rocks on the island? Or just fabric? Most plants really need something stable they can root into.
