THE CREATOR Director, Gareth Edwards, Took Some Inspiration From a Trip to Area 51

Director Gareth Edwards knows how to make a good sci-fi thriller. Formerly Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Edwards now brings us THE CREATOR, a dystopian look at the dangers of AI running out of control. Edwards joined Den of Geek at San Diego Comic Con to talk about about the film, but the inspiration for one specific visual reveals an intriguing story...
About The Creator:
"As a future war between the human race and artificial intelligence rages on, ex-special forces agent Joshua is recruited to hunt down and kill the Creator, the elusive architect of advanced AI. The Creator has developed a mysterious weapon that has the power to end the war and all of mankind. As Joshua and his team of elite operatives venture into enemy-occupied territory, they soon discover the world-ending weapon is actually an AI in the form of a young child."
The Creator comes to theaters September 29th.

Gareth Edwards has quickly become my favourite director. Both as a filmmaker (taking risks, inventing new methods, good movies) and as a person (this interview is the best example). Very much looking forward to see this movie and his next movies!
