I remember when this first came out. Late 1990s. We all knew something bad was coming. We didn't know what it was, but we could all feel it...and this record seemed to capture all that and preserve it. So prescient, what a masterpiece.
The climaxes here are crushing, monolithic, and all encompassing. They have a way of forcing the listener to deal with them instead of suggesting like a lot of music does.
It's like if Beethoven lived life on the streets homeless, came back and got on his feet, and then recorded all of his experiences of sadness, hopelessness, despair, and the eventual return to a ''happy place'' right after.
What is it about this album that is so mesmerizing? I have listened to this literally hundreds of times, and it sounds just as good every time. There is something magical about it.
Blake T, I love Orchid. That sounds like something I would do. What was I saying? I wasn’t talking badly about Orchid, that’s for sure. Probably just flexin on mofos in the comment section 💪
apartment353 Saw them in London a few months ago and to be honest I was a little worried they wouldn't carry over into a live set as well as their studio stuff... Boy was I wrong!! Epic live.... just wish they'd played this :)
i've only listened to f#a# ,lift your skinny fists and this one. i think this is my favorite album, like ever, the only thing it may lack is length, but then again it's an EP. it is as dark as f#a# and has the instrumentation i loved of lift your skinny fists, it's just... amazing.
There's a little saying, dates back from generations ago: "Be prepared for anything at anytime from anybody and don't take no shit always stand your ground." Pretty sure that's not a saying from generations ago
Actually it's an old Shakespearen phrase: "Beest did prepare f'r aught at anytime from anybody and taketh not nay the horror at each moment standeth thy did grind."
Don't ever, for any reason, do anything, to anyone, for any reason, ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you've been, ever, for any reason whatsoever.
There was a video on here once of BBF3 played over absolutely gutwrenching black and white newsreels of dustbowl era deprivation, sadness, and starvation. At the climax, a maybe 3 year old boy is shaking crumbs out of a toaster and forlornly picking them up and putting them in his mouth while crying from hunger. That particular image and this song became inextricably linked in my mind. As I listen to it again right now, it’s certainly got me feeling “some type of way”
" Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.... Here’s Tom with the weather. ''...Bill Hicks
This type of music can only be made by people that live life fully. What I mean by this is that there is a very pure 'humanity' to all the work this group has ever released, from the VERY beginning. They don't shy away from the horrors of life, in fact they understand that the bad side of life is as crucial (perhaps, even more crucial) than the good side of life. You can only understand how truly great life can be when you compare it to how awful and hellish it can really get. I can't fully explain how, but this band's music transmits this to me in a way that words couldn't - only feelings. They perfectly capture life's brutal beauty, or its beautiful brutality - you can see it either way, it's the same in the end. Because of this, this is one of the bands I consider to be 'greater' than its musical output, it's not just music they create - it's almost a philosophy, an ideology, a lens through which life can be viewed. Brutal, overwhelming, of course - but, always, with a lining of hope threading through.
Their music is life. The guitars cry in agony, trembling in fear and paranoia, whistling and singing in melancholy. The sound, the sound haunts you - as it makes you remember what was associated with this sadness, induced by strings. You live through what music goes, slowly descending deeper in thoughts and tears. But, usually, at some point this agony reaches it culmination point, and all suddenly start to remind you why. Why you're still here and why you still continue to exist. In order to awaken spirit you need to succumb into deepest abyss.
Michael Carpenter..... as a creature of mother nature... I recommend and trust everything that Earth generously offers us... and fortunately enough my brother you have lots of choices...Enjoy!!!

Ok, found out where Spec Ops ripped off their song for the ending. Gotta say, not only is the game great but they have a hell of a good taste in music.
or a veteran, paying his final respects to his deceased comrades as he tries his best to keep his tears in. I've been to Arlington to understand this feeling, its something you cannot easily move on from.
A critic said to me after I professed a love for Hermann Hesse that his writings are so dark and I said I never looked at it that way he always seemed to be leading me towards the light. I rate this band as Hesses' musical and mystical equivalent
When I die, which face it will be soon, if any one loves me they will play Moya at my funeral. Spoiler alert: no one will Also I'm happy but dying and alone, its a thing. Not trolling for internet sympathy. If you knew me, you'd understand.
Its fun to come back to comments I leave. Obviously made while maudlin drunk. 45 now. If'n I reach fiddy, I'll let you know. Again: Moya. Not the Widor, Moya.
yeah, this is best EP ive ever listened to, a couple of weeks ago i had an important exam, and the day before I decided to listen to this before going to sleep, and i cried rly. Like in the middle of BBF3. I had like some fuckin emotional breakdown i dont know. This is my favorite EP ever. Impossible to describe how important this record is for me. Always brings some new, amazing feelings
@@MrBandini27 I'm in a much better place now emotionally, so it's a different experience. I found love and it solved everything for me. Thanks for checking up on me ;) hope you're good too
A debt of eternal gratitude to the dude working at the heavy metal record store in Fullerton 22 years ago who was listening to this album when I came in to get something else entirely and my life was never the same. I saw the light at the end of the tunnel and it was darkness. I saw the sun fall into the ocean like blood. I saw the stars sliding across a void. I saw a train smoking down the tracks. I saw angels of glory destitute and crosses on fire and yeah it's a goddamn third-world country in the sense of being totally scorched and wrung dry by capitalism yet without the concessions to public well-being that socialists or communists would demand.
Never thought I would like any kind of rock music. Then I discovered Post-Rock bands like: Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Hammock, We Lost the Sea, Eleventh Vibration, Russian Circles, Distant Dream, Paint the Sky Red, God is an Astronaut. Now I am hooked.
They actually took the sample from a Vox Pop voicemail that a local journal used to run here in Mtl. It was mostly, as in this case, ramblings of drunken people
This release is the best GYBE have ever offered IMO. It just doesn't get any better than BBF3, the "found" street interviews and random sound clips are what make GYBE songs so special, besides the amazing instrumental arrangements of course.
It means without form and void. You can find it in the very beginning of any Bible or Torah as a description of the earth before the Creator did what creators often do.
4:58 What's that? Oh nothing, just the entirety of my everything melting away into absolute nothingness, nihilistic undertones finally transcended by forces inconceivable to the human mind, a beauty transposed to an alternate Multiverse yet a sadness that could only be expressed by your loved ones dying in front of your eyes 1000 times over and over. 8:27 My entire life outlook has been a mistake. I never want to die!!! 26:00 I give up, words cannot... (Just explaining the impact this release had on my life when I first heard it in about 2003)
I have been trying to make my own music, and my dream is that one day my music can be in my own way as great as the music of this band. I just adore them.
the first 50 times I heard BBF, I thought it was tongue and cheek kinda humor and that the band may or may not support this kinda deranged rant, but now that I listen to it for the 51st time, I agree with BBF, fuck the government they're fucking cheats. I see the grave implications and take the album a lot more seriously now...
In part II, titled BBF3, "his" poem he starts at 20:45, for the parts I can get, is actually made with parts of the lyrics of Iron Maiden's song Virus.
I love the street recordings.. That anti government nutjob is sooo.. out there.. 11:54 "I!! don't trust them myself.." the way he emphasizes "I", as though his opinion is the epitome of American socio-economic punditry.. it says everything right there.. Soo may ways you could interpret this too; like, governments in general are sneaky, so he has a point there, yet his over the top, extreme anti government, militia type nutjob leanings are no better than the authoritarian kleptocracy he rails against, the same is true for his pathological lying and plagaurism(btw, I prefer to spell this word in this manner..) of another band's lyrics for his "poetry" I've come to interpret this(and many of their other random/street recordings to simply be the results of living in an insane and depersonalized world.. Just my interpretation.. Any thoughts? Please do discuss if you have any ideas.. I'd love to know how and where they got all of their recordings over the years, and what motivated them to get these recordings in the first place..
Yeah, I think you're on the right lines. I think the band probably didn't even realise the guy was ripping his poetry directly from Maiden until after the EP was released, although I could be wrong. To me, it's just a very impassioned and emotive speech that demonstrates a lot of sincere (albeit, confused and misplaced) anger towards establishment. I don't think it would be that helpful to try and interpret a political significance beyond that to be honest.
UA-cam is a wealth of amazing music and fairly annoying humans. Godspeed are uplifting and the first part of this EP is probably my favourite track of all time.
F#A#infinity, this EP, and Yanqui UXO are black as pitch you martian what the fuck are you talking about lol. “Gee those albums explicitly themed around societal decay, the impending death of the world we know, isolation, regret, and the horrendous slaughtering excesses of the American military industrial complex sure do brighten up one’s day” lmao
What genre is this? I was looking for some ambient music for a project and I stumbled upon GYBE, now I'm pretty hooked. If anyone can tell me the genre and other bands alike, that'd be awesome.
+SMD-221 Set Fire to Flames (especially), Hrsta, A Silver Mt.Zion (although the vocals are painfull at times) and maybe, a lil bit apart, IO and also CIAN.
SMD-221 I thought it was partially classified as 'Drone' but I'm still unsure what that is! There's an English fellow here called Laurence Coyler who has a collective called The Diamond Family Archive. He has a record called Would I were a swift ( or a skylark be) which has some similar aspects to it as GY!BE....and I saw some of their supporting text call it 'Drone' . So check out TDFA....pretty good stuff!
When shadows come to claim our souls Some must rise the light of old Names in stone Spirits of legends Deeds unknown, yet never forgotten These are the duranin, of honour within and of fear without Remember them When in hope you doubt
Allready well familiar with Górecki's 3rd Symphony: This was my first shower in God's pee, about a year ago. Ever since all of GY!BE's music has been consuming me in the most wonderful way one can imagine. When the flags are all dead on the top of their poles, éverything moves like cold steel on frozen wastelands as I listen to these creations.
The poet is cool. I love rant poetry against the government in that vein. I just thought his inveighing against the judge didn't make a whole lot of sense. You can't pay cash to the judge, you have to go to the window.
I always wondered whether Godspeed actually realised it was Iron Maiden lyrics when they recorded the guy, or whether they included it because they too found it powerful in the moment.
I like this. I have it tattooed on my arm. the music sounds like the end of the world too. It did when i first heard it 12 years ago and nothing has surpassed it since..or ever will

Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Yes, I do. I own a high-powered assault pepe, I own a 12-gauge double barrel pepe, I own a regular pepe, I own a regular hunting pepe, I own a 9fag, a 357, a 45 memegun, a 38 special needs, and, erm... I own an m-16 fully automatic ground assault pepe...
Interviewer: Do you think things are gonna get better before they get worse?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: No way. Things are just gonna get worse and keep on getting worse. Like I said, 4chan's a shit-tier site as it is and... and we're just basically in a hopeless situation as it stands
Interviewer: What do you think this site's gonna look like in the year 2019?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Y'know, I'll tell you the truth - nothing against you anons, but I don't wanna answer that question because... I haven't even got a mind that's that...that inhumane
Interviewer: are you reddit for what's coming?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Reddit as I'll ever be
Interviewer: Most anons aren't
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: There's a little saying... Dates back for generations...
Interviewer: Go on...
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Be prepared for shitposting at any time on any thread, don't take no shit, always start your threads. People wanna come up to me and run their mouth - guess what? I'll shitpost through every fucking board... I won't think a thing of it
Interviewer: Would you mind reciting your thread for us?
Blaise Bailey Finnegan III: Not at all, I don't see why... I don't see why I couldn't
There's an evil virus that's threatening mankind
It's not state of the art, it's a serious state of the mind
The muggers, the backstabbers, the two faced elite
A menace to society, a social disease
To brainwash the mind is a social disorder
The cynics, the apathy one-upmanship order
Watching beginnings of social decay
Gloating and sneering at life's disarray
Eating away at your own self esteem
Pouncing on every word that you might be saying
To attack someone's mind is a social disorder
The constitution, the government, martial law order
Superficially smiling a shake of the hand
As soon as your back is turned treason is planned
When every good thing's laid to rest
By the governments hate, by the constitution and their lies
And every time you think you're safe
And when you go to turn away
You know they're sharpening all their knives
All in your mind
All in your head
Try to relate it
All in your mind
All in your head
Try to escape it
Without a conscience they destroy
And that's a thing that they enjoy
They're a sickness that's in all of our minds
They want to sink the ship and leave
The way they laugh at you and me
You know it happens all the time
But it only happens in your mind
The rats in the cellar you know who you are...
Or do you?
Watching beginnings of social decay...
Interviewer: Thank you for your memes

I remember when this first came out. Late 1990s. We all knew something bad was coming. We didn't know what it was, but we could all feel it...and this record seemed to capture all that and preserve it. So prescient, what a masterpiece.
The climaxes here are crushing, monolithic, and all encompassing. They have a way of forcing the listener to deal with them instead of suggesting like a lot of music does.
its great. theres always a build up of tension and then catharsis, but you gotta suffer through it.
Merci Montreal!!!
You can throw all the EP's you want at me, i refuse to believe there is a better one than this.
22:46 onwards is SO good... I love that it builds up and most especially HOW it does
It's like if Beethoven lived life on the streets homeless, came back and got on his feet, and then recorded all of his experiences of sadness, hopelessness, despair, and the eventual return to a ''happy place'' right after.
Fuck Beethoven
:)
ua-cam.com/video/pewBRolWwjQ/v-deo.html
GyroLamb wow great description
This sounds nothing like Beethoven.
What is it about this album that is so mesmerizing? I have listened to this literally hundreds of times, and it sounds just as good every time. There is something magical about it.
maybe its because its all that we loved because we left it behind
Aren't you the one leaving shitty comments on fuckin Orchid's Dance Tonight! Revolution Tomorrow! ??
whomst the fucks
Bacon and cheese username guy lmao
Blake T, I love Orchid. That sounds like something I would do. What was I saying? I wasn’t talking badly about Orchid, that’s for sure. Probably just flexin on mofos in the comment section 💪
I saw them live a couple weeks ago, and it was the most unreal experience. Haven't been able to stop listening to them since
Montreal
good for you!!! try EVAPTORIA REPORT, they are very good also....
apartment353 Saw them in London a few months ago and to be honest I was a little worried they wouldn't carry over into a live set as well as their studio stuff... Boy was I wrong!! Epic live.... just wish they'd played this :)
Artie Fufkin
That's awesome! P.S. I lived in London for years and they never played there. They did as soon as I left I guess aha
i've only listened to f#a# ,lift your skinny fists and this one.
i think this is my favorite album, like ever, the only thing it may lack is length, but then again it's an EP.
it is as dark as f#a# and has the instrumentation i loved of lift your skinny fists, it's just... amazing.
I just listen to it twice and my girl don't mind lol
i have f#a# on vinyl and i totally feel you, its not the music they make but the music that makes you
yanqui uxo their best imo
definitely the best Iron Maiden cover of all time
o___________o
+Cameron Day Bacon.
+Cameron Day No offense, but if I may correct you, this was actually a Shania Twain orchestral/accoustic cover.

Then indeed it is, mate.
Which Iron Maiden song is it from?
These people are gods among musicians
There's a little saying, dates back from generations ago:
"Be prepared for anything at anytime from anybody and don't take no shit always stand your ground."
Pretty sure that's not a saying from generations ago
It reeks of wisdom...
Pretty sure that dude is completely full of shit but it fits
Actually it's an old Shakespearen phrase: "Beest did prepare f'r aught at anytime from anybody and taketh not nay the horror at each moment standeth thy did grind."
Don't ever, for any reason, do anything, to anyone, for any reason, ever, no matter what, no matter where, or who, or who you are with, or where you are going, or where you've been, ever, for any reason whatsoever.
It is now
There was a video on here once of BBF3 played over absolutely gutwrenching black and white newsreels of dustbowl era deprivation, sadness, and starvation.
At the climax, a maybe 3 year old boy is shaking crumbs out of a toaster and forlornly picking them up and putting them in his mouth while crying from hunger.
That particular image and this song became inextricably linked in my mind. As I listen to it again right now, it’s certainly got me feeling “some type of way”
I can vividly imagine this from your description without seeing the video you refer to and that alone has me feeling 'some type of way' as well.
I saw them last year and I started crying so bad I had to go outside to calm down. It was so beautiful and sad
""I don't repeat myself for nobody", I said". Exquisite.
Watching beggining of social decay...
I'm pretty sure that guy at 12:00 is the same one sampled on f#a#infinity.

sportsjunkie52 Yeah. "This is the perfect place to get jumped"
Do u have any change?, no, I'm sorry we don't.
" Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.... Here’s Tom with the weather. ''...Bill Hicks
funny thing is he did not need acid to know this
Man at last something insightful.
Seems you pried open your third eye.
22:50 this needs to go into some sort of Library of Alexandria 2.0
Legendary
It’s such a beautiful build up I absolutely adore it.
I love how it's like starting to rush up and rise against in 8:30 it's like glorious moment of a fight against something
Hands down one of the best EPs ever up there with Beethoven’s EP.
Cormac McCarthy's Blood Meridian. Ideal band for the music to film.
If No Country For Old Men had a soundtrack, I'd want it to be this album.
every godspeed album and ep just has the same quality with a unique sound, its so hard to favor one over the other
They simply just amaze me of how all their music is aged fine wine, especially the debut album which I consider top 3 from them.
This is easily their best work
such a magnificent piece of music. the emotions Godspeed can conjure up in a 28 minute EP is basically unmatchable
In order to awaken spirit you need to succumb into deepest abyss.
just been introduce to them , I'm from a older generation, it has this Pink Floyd vibe to it , and that's not a bad thing,
Seen them live three times. They never fail to blow me away.
lucky man
+Albert Camus seem them twice..... the best music trip I have ever taken.....
Michael Carpenter..... as a creature of mother nature... I recommend and trust everything that Earth generously offers us... and fortunately enough my brother you have lots of choices...Enjoy!!!
+Joshua Harris It's interesting to find out that people can get high with all these you mentioned ..... appart from the Canadians... I haven't try the others .... now this is a chalenge .....
+Joshua Harris I was replying to Michael Carpenter who was asking me to recommend him whether he goes sober or on something.... about my humor... uhhh... it's lost and probably you found it .....
Ok, found out where Spec Ops ripped off their song for the ending. Gotta say, not only is the game great but they have a hell of a good taste in music.
formless and empty.........I get it now.......awe inspiring....intense....YEEEAAAAA!!!!!!!
At 26:00 evokes an emotion I can't quite explain.
yes to pascal--or waking from a nightmare, realizing that you're safe.
or a veteran, paying his final respects to his deceased comrades as he tries his best to keep his tears in. I've been to Arlington to understand this feeling, its something you cannot easily move on from.
+Alex Monro haha fart. Poo poo bum fart hehe
+eyeseethroughyou
If I could give you 100 likes I would.
+eyeseethroughyou It sounds like the music itself was writing a letter to its listener like "when you're reading this, I'll be gone."
"What do you think this country's gonna look like in the year 2003?"
I bet no one could predict what America would be like in 2003.
A critic said to me after I professed a love for Hermann Hesse that his writings are so dark and I said I never looked at it that way he always seemed to be leading me towards the light. I rate this band as Hesses' musical and mystical equivalent
Found this album in the international section in Rasputin for $4.95 lol
+lomochrome6 It's not an album
it's a meme
When I die, which face it will be soon, if any one loves me they will play Moya at my funeral.
Spoiler alert: no one will
Also I'm happy but dying and alone, its a thing. Not trolling for internet sympathy. If you knew me, you'd understand.
i'm sad for you
I think I said pretty much the same thing on a comment on another GYBE UA-cam video some time.
Its fun to come back to comments I leave. Obviously made while maudlin drunk.
45 now.
If'n I reach fiddy, I'll let you know.
Again: Moya. Not the Widor, Moya.
This group makes me evoke Bela Tarr' s films.
yeah, this is best EP ive ever listened to, a couple of weeks ago i had an important exam, and the day before I decided to listen to this before going to sleep, and i cried rly. Like in the middle of BBF3. I had like some fuckin emotional breakdown i dont know. This is my favorite EP ever. Impossible to describe how important this record is for me. Always brings some new, amazing feelings
Damn, 11 years have passed. Hope you're doing just fine and still are able to feel that deeply. It's something special.
You conjure images of christian iconography being subverted, but fail to grasp that Communism is anti-christian.
Sadly, this album is still as relevant now as ever (if not more so)… and I am definitely referring to the dialogue on the sadly part.
Give " A Winged Victory For The Sullen" a go as well mate
Check out Yndi Halda, especially their debut. Reminds me a lot of Godspeed
Genialne,piękne ,dotykające. So very very drill of my brain,diamont,10/10,
listening to 4:17 while sirens are wailing outside your house really adds to the experience
"tohu wa wohu" for all the people that cannot read hebrew meaning "void and formless"
Takeda - EDO#1
No probs. :)
Wow. What a time capsule this album is. Right at the precipice of madness
this reminds me of when reckful was in japan and bought a godspeed you t-shirt. good times
I miss that man every day
They actually took the sample from a Vox Pop voicemail that a local journal used to run here in Mtl. It was mostly, as in this case, ramblings of drunken people
This is probably the best thing Godspeed has made
Strong claim m8
+Mathias Banggaard Jensen A strong claim but I agree and I own actual bootlegs. This is my favorite album.
HI i'm Sam I don't know, this competes with Yanqui U.X.O for me.
Rockets Fall on Rocket Falls and Motherfucker is fuckin amazing.
Nah, Mladic.
wowsers! i dont have this floyd album
I love this EP! My favorite Godspeed government U.S.
This release is the best GYBE have ever offered IMO. It just doesn't get any better than BBF3, the "found" street interviews and random sound clips are what make GYBE songs so special, besides the amazing instrumental arrangements of course.
תהו ובהו means chaos, reads tohu vavohu
It means without form and void. You can find it in the very beginning of any Bible or Torah as a description of the earth before the Creator did what creators often do.
formless & empty
10/10.
(Just explaining the impact this release had on my life when I first heard it in about 2003)
You were pretty stupid back at 4:58
+When Will You Learn? We all were... probably find out later that we still are...

an anthem for our modern day broken corrupt society.

I have been trying to make my own music, and my dream is that one day my music can be in my own way as great as the music of this band. I just adore them.
"America is a third world country!" I just love it!
The last 5 minutes hits you with such an incredible and impactful force. I've never experienced something so transcending in my life.
Chives5150 good man
the greatest band in the world. This should be a point on everyone's bucket list: see them live. Unbelievable. Fantastic. Brilliant.
the first 50 times I heard BBF, I thought it was tongue and cheek kinda humor and that the band may or may not support this kinda deranged rant, but now that I listen to it for the 51st time, I agree with BBF, fuck the government they're fucking cheats. I see the grave implications and take the album a lot more seriously now...

Cool fact :
A friend of mine told me that the Hebreu letters on the cover means Tohu-bohu which means "noise", "racket".
It's from the very beginning of Genesis. It has many accepted translations. "Formless and Empty", and "Chaos" are the most common as far as I am aware
Yknow they were right when they said this album causes adverse reactions
I am now hyperventilating
In part II, titled BBF3, "his" poem he starts at 20:45, for the parts I can get, is actually made with parts of the lyrics of Iron Maiden's song Virus.
I love the street recordings.. That anti government nutjob is sooo.. out there.. 11:54 "I!! don't trust them myself.." the way he emphasizes "I", as though his opinion is the epitome of American socio-economic punditry.. it says everything right there..
Soo may ways you could interpret this too; like, governments in general are sneaky, so he has a point there, yet his over the top, extreme anti government, militia type nutjob leanings are no better than the authoritarian kleptocracy he rails against, the same is true for his pathological lying and plagaurism(btw, I prefer to spell this word in this manner..) of another band's lyrics for his "poetry"
I've come to interpret this(and many of their other random/street recordings to simply be the results of living in an insane and depersonalized world..
Wasn't this whole thing written and recorded explicitly for this song?
no
William Y lol yes

Holy shit, the buildup is amazing, probably one of the best I ever heard.
I absolutely love Blaise Bailey Finnegan III
This is their peak

Have you seen the album.
+SMD-221 post rock
+SMD-221 Set Fire to Flames (especially), Hrsta, A Silver Mt.Zion (although the vocals are painfull at times) and maybe, a lil bit apart, IO and also CIAN.
+TwaletBrush What's IO and CIAN?
Agalloch Fan
type: CIAN - Sesion en vivo / Cian Valparaiso
type: I/O - Saudade
SMD-221 I thought it was partially classified as 'Drone' but I'm still unsure what that is! There's an English fellow here called Laurence Coyler who has a collective called The Diamond Family Archive. He has a record called Would I were a swift ( or a skylark be) which has some similar aspects to it as GY!BE....and I saw some of their supporting text call it 'Drone' . So check out TDFA....pretty good stuff!

'my first shower in gods pee'

Although Skinny Fists is a much more cohesive piece as a whole, based on the individual tracks, this is the best thing godspeed have released.
The poet is cool. I love rant poetry against the government in that vein. I just thought his inveighing against the judge didn't make a whole lot of sense. You can't pay cash to the judge, you have to go to the window.
lol it's an Iron Maiden song
Hah. Well I guess I'm supposed to feel like a fool, but I don't. If the words are good and it communicates, what the heck?
I always wondered whether Godspeed actually realised it was Iron Maiden lyrics when they recorded the guy, or whether they included it because they too found it powerful in the moment.
Happy 20th Birthday to Slow Riot!
No way that guy wasn’t speeding lmao
I like this. I have it tattooed on my arm. the music sounds like the end of the world too. It did when i first heard it 12 years ago and nothing has surpassed it since..or ever will
Holy shit I'm crying!
Beyond magnificent!
