Maybe its my diminishing space, But I did recently go back to my roots and picked up some Small Mighty max toys, and it was Tremendously satisfying, and possibly relates to Transformers for the reveal of the inner workings as a reason I enjoy Toys. Become the dominator, grab hold of the C-Sacc.
These videos are always great, because afterwards I go and cancel a bunch of preorders because I realise they're not the kind of figures that'll actually bring me joy.
Been out of the hustle and bustle of Transformers collecting for close to 13 years now. But I've always kept up with the community as a whole because of creators like you, Vangelus. What a thoughtful, refreshing topic to cover.
I think this video was just what I needed right about now. I've been a part of the Transformers community since I was a little kid, but I'm only a recent collector. I usually stick to G1 and Live-action, but I've got the terrible affliction of being a completionist, so whenever a new figure related to either comes out I've got to get it, and I do a ton of back-collecting older figures. 2024 has been very successful collecting-wise, particularly with filling out my Decepticon ranks, but it's been heavy in my wallet. Nothing I can't handle, but it does make me question what worth it'll all be. This video made me realize, it's not an investment or anything economically useful. It's just a hobby. Just a hobby! I can't believe I haven't realized this simple thing. All this is just for fun. I've carried by C-SACC pretty well, since despite how this decade has gone I started collecting in it so it feels normal, but now, upon reconsidering the state of my collecting and my consumption of media, I feel like I hold my C-SACC better than ever.
This was a really good video to drop. I was just days ago very excited about getting a figure or two and it was nice until a while passed and I started to think about money and I couldn’t remember what I wanted or why until just now as I’m typing this I remembered what it was like in my teenage years about a decade ago, when I really went out doing toy hunting, and I just didn’t care about any of that, I’d get a character I wanted or thought was cool and I just got it. Obviously with experience we have buyers remorse or keep a budget but broadly speaking it was about having fun and I gotta be honest we’ve come a really far way from the DOTM, Thrilling 30’s, TFP, Beast Hunters, AOE days. So many figures I wished for in fever dreams are just the default, and that’s awesome, ultimately im just trying to not take this Golden Age for granted because make no mistake that’s what we have. And enjoying it is what this is all about. Anyways keep gripping that C-SACC because it’s the only one we got.
I enjoy the interaction between the physical toys and their stories. So, whether that's being able to get the representation of the character from a movie, show, or comic, or first have the figure and then write some fanfiction or create art I find that interesting and fun. I like to see the comics fans make from toy photography, for example. Or, customizing a figure so they look more like a specific headcanon version. I enjoy the representation with the stories.
