Thanks Gerry. I love Inishowen and was great to see that new view you caught along the coastline. Interesting to capture something of the local folklore too, albeit a tragic tale on this occasion. All the best, Steve,
Cheers Steve👍 Inishowen is pretty cool and there is always something new to see, even on well trodden paths. It was lovely to have a friendly chat with the farmer and get a wee sense of life from his perspective.
Great to see the coast at Donegal! You had some beautiful views! It looks remote, and peaceful. Nice camping spot… and nice picture of the old tent! I agree, it does refresh the spirit to get out into these wild places and experience nature!! 😄👌🥾🥾
Well done Gerry, 12 hours in a tent on your own, I suppose it's ok if you can get a good sleep, however if your restless it could be a long night. Some nice wee flowers in full colour this time of year. 👍😁😁
Cheers Aiden👍 I did get plenty of sleep, which hasn't always been the case recently when out wild camping so that put the 12 hours in a bit quicker😊 There were just a few flowers still in bloom at the beach, would be a lot more colour in Spring and Summer.
Cheers👍 It was a cool trip. I was expecting some more of that elusive sunshine we have been missing this year though was happy to take what came along😊
Fantastically dramatic coastline next to the hills Gerry - this area has it all! 😊 If I could grow any hair I would Gerry, although maybe not near my mouth 🤭 It looked a breezy one and no doubt delivered on the escape from it all stakes! Great to see 🎉
Cheers Miriam👍 The tache is coming off imminently as Movember is over😊 As you know Donegal is one of the coolest places there is in the whole world and this little bit of it is the same👍 Good for the heart and soul❤
Nice video Gerry. Did the Malin head walk few weeks ago.Crockalough and spectacular veiws of The stook. looking forward to this walk next year when come back.Cheers.
Cheers Bernard👍 There is some lovely walking in Donegal alright. That coast along the coast to Crockalough is a real favourite and so quiet. The Urris Hills are fantastic and even better walking further to the summit of Ragtin More👣
Hi Gerry, loving the tache 😂. A nice looking spot with the mountains dropping down to the sea and a few loughs as well. The moon is always a big bonus when on the mountain, and that one looked well. It must have been nice and rewarding to witness, as you said good for the soul and recharging the batteries. A nice video. All the best 👍
Cheers Andrew👍 The tache always appears for Movember. The Urris Hills are pretty cool in terms of location and they do have that feel of being way higher than they actually are. It wasn't as easy to get a camp spot as I thought though it was great to just be out there for the night up on a hill all on my lonesome😊 Definitely a nature recharging station😊
Great watch Gerry. We have that direction pencilled in for the summer as we don’t know the area at all so need the longer days to explore. A well put together video, keep them coming 👍.
It indeed looks cold.. but your gears really did a great job! The views are beautiful! Nice to get idea of the trails in Ireland. The Scottish Islands are amazing! Thanks for taking us along.
it definitely had me on recharge😊 The lough in the mist was so cool with the water just disappearing after a few metres and it was really still too. Nothing beats a wee micro adventure👍
Those hills look great, Gerry. We’ve had loads of family holidays in Donegal but have never ventured towards the Urris Hills. Thanks for sharing another great camp.
There is so much to see and do in Donegal👍 They are a fine compact line of hills that look and feel the part and there are some waymarked walks like the Urris Lakes Loop that are pretty cool👍
Cheers Chris👍 There is stunning walking up along the Urris Hills looking over Lough Swilly and away to the bigger Donegal Hills and it is always something cool about being on a hill with water below. Walking further to Ragtin More gives even more spectacular views up to Malin Head.
Excellent video Gerry, loved the photo of the tent at night, looks like a great little tent, shame about the visibility the next day, but that just made it more atmospheric. I agree, wild camping is great for mental health
Cheers David👍 I have only used that tent a handful of times and it took me quite a while to remember how to get it set up and I was freezing by then😊 Sometimes you never know what you will wake up to in the morning though it was really cool to walk back surrounded by the mist. Being out for the day or the night just clears the head I find, nearly taking all the worries away for a while and giving the head and body a break.
Fantastic video and trip Gerry, some lovely hills and beaches up there and so remote. Bit windy too in the morning but then you're hard core. We were up in Fanad last week visiting my aunt but din't go to the Lighthouse. Was also in Gortin Glen Forest park this week and met Darach! We discovered the Sperrin Rambler bus so hoping to take it in the new year to Magherafelt and circle back from there. The Sperrins looked awesome from Mullaghcarn. Regards, Ashley
Cheers Ashely👍 I love Fanad and walking along the coast from the lighthouse. The wind was slightly more than had been forecast though that is the nature of hillwalking here I suppose😊 Gortin Glen is a really cool place and I will have to go and visit Darach too👍 The line of the high Sperrins is a sight to behold😊
Wow what a fascinating part of Ireland. We love the Inishshowen peninsula. So much history. Sounds like a raven around 5 30 in. Ah Fanad. If you ever get the chance check out the Doagh Famine Village tour.....one of the best tours I've ever been on led by Paddy. Some guy! You met 2 walkers! A bit on the breezy side there Gerry. You'll be glad you had the tent well tied down! I'm not fussed with that mist! You take care Gerry! Glad you got your head showered. Yes in noticed the moustache! lol
Cheers Tom👍 Inishowen is a place that I love, though haven't been to the Famine Village, yet. The weather wasn't quite what I was expecting though we know how unpredictable it can be here or in the Castlereagh Hills😊
Hi Gerry. Inishowen is a place of so many surprises. We have been back a few times exploring. The Famine Village is an amzing step back in time authentic local history and Paddy knows his stuff because he lived the life there as a boy. Fort Dunree Wow! Then there is the mysterious The Grianan of Aileach and then there is Malin Head. We love it. And then there is the remarkable museum at Greencastle and the big St Patrick's engraved cross at Carndonagh and the nearby Marigold stone Wow! Wow! Wow! I've got all this on video! lol -And of course there are the amazing views that you already know about! Take care! Tom
I said that to myself from the start Gerry that them hills are gnarly and special looking. You certainly got deep down into them exploring as you do. A few ups and downs from the awesome beach but it not being a race pleasant going. A nice pitch not that we saw a lot of the location - a decent place to reflect upon the day and those you met. Well, great to remember old camps too - nice weighty tent no doubt. Enjoyed that mental wealth and all. Mark
Mark, they are gnarly alright😊 and great to walk👍 They were some adventure away back in the day when I hadn't done much exploring and they haven't lost much of that magic. Weather wasn't great though though the views were and there is something about walking through the mist and being only able to see a few metres in front, where everything takes on a new perspective. Thank you👍
@@gerrymcveigh Yeah, I can see how gnarly from here. Good to hear the old space has not lost its magic. Yeah, I say that in my most recent video coming down of the Black Mountains - the mist and cloud is fully immersive - never without stimulation views or not. Peace bro - have a great weekend.
Cracking wee hills Gerry. Got 2 mates that are from Donegal. Really need tae get over & explore. Impressive coastline from they wee hills like. 😎 Looked a windy morning and nae views. Been there before. 😁
Cheers James👍 Great walking up there and none better than a full traverse of the Urris Hills, Mamore Hill and Ragtin More - which is a fantastic place to camp in the right weather.

No better place to be - Urris is a gorgeous place to walk - we walked from Mamore gap to Dunree a few weeks ago. Lovely video thanks
Cheers Mary👍 That is a lovely walk you did and I agree Urris is a pretty cool place😊

A nice hike and wild camp. Thank you for sharing 😊
