I've played guitar off and on for years, but I've never REALLY buckled down and practiced on a regular basis. In this series, I want to see if I can get out of my early-intermediate skill level rut. I have given myself 9 months to achieve some attainable goals. I'll be using @JustinGuitar 's Intermediate Lesson Modules to start out. Let's see how I do!
Part 10 - It's been nine months, and I've been practicing every day. Did I meet the goals I set out in the first episode?

Bradley don't let the seemingly small progress fool you! In music every single improvement is a big and difficult step and just to keep what you already got requires constant practicing. It's amazing how much you learned in just 9 months. I have played double bass for 18 years and started French horn about 5 years ago, I know first-hand how slow and demanding it is to learn an instrument. Studying every day is the only way forward but it demands a great deal off discipline and will. You've done a lot in 9 months, and if you keep going, you will be in that intermediate level you talk about sooner than you think. Congratulations!

I’ll give you a little tip. I think of the chord notes (tones) as the foundation for the music we play since you can play different scales for example over the same chord and give your lines a different sound. But anyway, it’s been a real treat and an inspiration watching your journey. I myself stopped playing bass and guitar for 15 years and have picked up the bass again. Watching you had definitely motivated me. And OF COURSE you deserve a reward!!! Can’t wait to know what it is!!!

Way to go, Bradley! I had no idea you played. I’ll have to go back and find the other videos. Those LP Specials are absolutely fantastic. They’re just fun. You’re right about how they make you want to play. Congrats on the improvement, you’re sounding great!

I found your channel by searching LP Special reviews. But I didn't expect to find such a inspiring journey of learning and progressing on playing guitar, not to mention the effort you put in to documenting all this. You have my respect sir! I've been playing for more than two decades but still find myself going back to the basics and relearn every knowledge I've learnt. Keep up the good work man! You deserve to be a better player! And yes, you do make me pull the trigger of getting that LP Special! Ha! P90s sound great man!

Dude! You rock. Definitely reward yourself. To quote Dana K. White who has nothing to do with guitars, "The goal is always to make it BETTER." You've done that. Yay, you!

Sounds great to me! I can hear a big difference now versus then and confidence probably has a lot to do with it. I think more practice will take you to the next level. And if you can play with others, in a band or just dinking around, that would also push you to the next level.

I definitely think you deserve a reward. You’re showing that you’re more consistent and a more confident player than when you started. Keep it up!

Everyone look up circle of fourths, also called the circle of fifths. I think it's amazing and can help you remember keys. Also check out the 7 "Modes" (separate from the Major and Minor Pentatonic Scales. Also known as blues scales) Major scale= Ionian mode. 7 modes in all = Ionian, Dorian, Phyrgian, lydian, mixolydian, Aeolian, Locrian. Each mode matches up with each note of a key, say G for this video. If you were to start a chord progression on the second note in the scale, (A), but still in the key of G, the second "Mode", Dorian, would fit over the progression. This is how people jam on two chords, or use multiple scales at one time over a single chord progression :D Best of Luck to everyone! And amazing work SaT for only 9 months! You'll figure it all out in no time!

Cool man, yeah you're getting better with the before and after showing that very clearly. I can tell you want bigger gains though. Start looking at it like going to the gym and targeting weak areas with your weekly/daily routines. That left hand needs to build strength and finger independence. Shortest route to that is simple alternate picked chromatic runs ascending then decending. Do that to a metronome, gradually increasing speed and you'll do 9 months of gains in 9 weeks. Trust me. Cheers and keep at it, you tha man!

Those breakthroughs are amazing. Only up to 4 chords a month in- but I often feel like I am in a Calculus class as I start to think about keys and scales and the like. Your guitar sounds fantastic.

I can understand why you'd think it demoralizing to realize you're an upper level beginner over intermediate, but keep in mind you really only tinkered with guitar previously. You've now applied 9 months of focused study, and the difference is very apparent. Well done! I'd say you've earned your reward, whatever that might be.

REALLY like those P90s, Bradley. I’ve been wanting to get a Les Paul-shaped Harley Benton and put P90s in it. The only Gibson I could afford would be an Epiphone, but I am NOT impressed with the quality. The reviews I’ve seen about Harley Bentons seem like the construction is much better than lower end Gibsons. More bang for the buck, basically.
