My favourite Island. Coffee Shack (Captain Cook), Town of Holualoa (Kona), Ken's House of Pancakes (Hilo), Two Ladies Kitchen (Hilo) for their strawberry mochi, Suisan Fish Market (Hilo) - great poke.............!!!!!!!!

I have lived in Hilo for 45 years and no it (doesn't rain all the time) Hilo is an amazingly beautiful city, to say it rains all the time is so wrong, today and yesterday have been beautiful along with many many day's, rain makes our city so very green..
How fun!! How many hours is it from Hilo to Kona? 🚙 I thought there was a recent lava flow that blocked the highway. Excuse the ignorance. I only see bits of news (I don’t live there). 😔 I look forward to part 2. 😃
Thank you Belinda! It took 2 hours and 40 minutes to Kona from Keeau (south of Hilo). We took the scenic route. There is a newer highway that is faster at about 1 hour and 50 minutes/2 hours. The lava flow went through a neighborhood and did not affect the major highways. Thanks for watching!

She’s been to the Smoky Mountains and Dollywood that she’s shared with me so far. Like you, I’d love to travel the states but I think I’d like to do it via a Mississippi River cruise. Those are so expensive so I do ocean cruises instead. 😆 BBQ?! Expect an overcharge for your suitcase! 🤣🌴
It is about a 20 minute drive to downtown Hilo and the airport. Not bad, as there isn't any traffic like Oahu does and it really didn't feel like 20 minutes at all. I also chose it because it is about 20-30 minutes from Volcanoes National Park as well.

I hope you went to Manago Hotel Restaurant in Captain Cook, and to the Coffee Shack also in Captain Cook.
Yes Manago is a must. I'm a big coffee snob and don't even care for Kona Coffee. I know...I'm strange. So I bring my own on all trips.
