  • We recently caught up with award winning producer Fraser T Smith at his London studio, where we talked KORG prologue and his current projects. Fraser recently co-produced South London rapper Dave’s UK Number 1 album Psychodrama, described by The Guardian as “the boldest and best British rap album in a generation”. Fraser explains how prologue was integrated into his work-flow and how prominent it was in that production. Smith is no stranger to producing a successful album and has co-written, produced and mixed seven number one singles and contributed to sixteen number one albums in the UK and US. Some of the singles he collaborated on include Adele's "Set Fire to the Rain", James Morrison's "Broken Strings", Tinchy Stryder's "Number 1" and Taio Cruz's "Break Your Heart". Smith also teamed up with Stormzy to produce his acclaimed debut number 1 album "Gang Signs & Prayer", which won best album at the 2018 Brit Awards. Earlier that year he'd produced 7 tracks on Kano's celebrated Made in the Manor album.

Cool vid! I think its alright to go from presets as a start because the instant difference between them when you test them out can get you a fast impression what could fit in the mix instead of trying to create the perfect sound from scratch which would also be much more time intensive. So yeah it really depends how they are integrated into the mix and how fitting they were in the first place but its not an inferior way of producing in my opinion.

I was wondering if the updates to this synthesizer fixed the little tuning issue it had.. really love the sound of this synth but still a little weary about making a purchase at the moment.. really want it without any fuss.

I heard that the tuning issue is fixed and the tuning is working even faster now

It's fixed. I just bought one that came with the older firmware, heard the tuning issue, patched it with the latest firmware, and now it's gone.

Love my Prologue 16. Sold my Sequential Prophet 6 to fund the purchase. The Prophet 6 is cool & everything, I just couldn't get on with it. The Korg sounds better to me.

It's not something that many who own both say out loud but I've noticed that with a few good musicians I know who have both that they go to the Prologue first and use it more even though they don't admit that they love it more than the P-6

Wouldn’t part with my prologue 16 .... as you say ... just cuts through. You need to get melè to give up on the vintage synths and buy one

I’m sure the freebies and cash from Korg helps you recommend. Amazing a synth having a cutoff knob, and it doesn’t come with a printed manual.

Please Korg add an LFO in firmware, and make it possible to modulate a single OSC. It literally sounds like poop.
